Chapter 143: Where is Bai Xue?
“Thats right,” Bai Qian Han nodded and said to Bai Meiyue, “I heard a big brother call the woman who was asking them to break the door immediately—Sister Xiang Mei. Aunt, do you know her?”

Bai Meiyue curled her lips in a sneer. Know? Of course, she knew Xiang Mei. This woman was just as foolish as Chen Yuya, or it would be right to say that she was blinded by her affection for Su Hu.

Because Xiang Mei liked Su Hu, she listened to everything that the man asked her to do.

Su Hu asked Xiang Mei to be nice to Bai Xue and that love-sick woman started treating Bai Xue better than her own ancestor.

She knew that the woman whom Su Hu liked was actually Bai Xue but she didn’t dare to bully her because Xiang Mei was afraid of offending Su Hu.

Thus, she took out her anger and rage on Bai Meiyue.

In her past, Bai Meiyue foolishly believed that Xiang Mei didn’t like her because Bai Xue cared more about her. It wasn’t until she saved Xiang Mei when the woman was about to die that she found out the truth.

She told him that she regretted it and shouldn’t have listened to Su Hu and targeted her. Though Xiang Mei apologised to her, Bai Meiyue didn’t have much emotion towards that woman. Xiang Mei might have regretted her actions but that didn’t change anything.

She had bullied Bai Meiyue and her words firmly remained imprinted in Bai Meiyue’s heart.

She handed the knife to her brother and said, “I will take care of this matter; you two should cook something for the kids.”

Bai Zhan understood what she was going to do. He asked, “Do you want me to come with you?”

“Need not,” Bai Meiyue sneered. She could take care of this little trash alone.

In the penthouse where Bai Xue lived with the Bai family, a small fire was burning. Xiang Mei warmed her hands and rubbed them against her face and arms before saying, “That… Bai Meiyue… its as if she is guarding against some mafia lords; why did she install such a thick and hard-to-break door? If I didn’t know better, I would have thought she knew that the world was coming to an end.”

“You are thinking too much,” said the assistant director who came with Xiang Mei. “I heard from others that Miss Bai went crazy after that night’s incident.”

“How do you know that?” Director Lu asked with a surprised expression.

The assistant director rolled his eyes and explained, “A few of the refugees who came to hunt the mutated rats in the corridors told me that Bai Meiyue now hates men and doesn’t trust anyone. Maybe she installed that door to keep people out of her space?”

He then told the others the great things Bai Meiyue had done in the apartment building.

“Then if she finds out that we tried to break into her house…wouldn’t she chase us with a dagger?”

As soon as this man finished speaking, someone shook their head and said, “I think these people are just trying to scare us. Bai Meiyue is such a scaredy cat. I used to work with her and she never raised her head; even the staff could bully her as they liked.”

He looked contemptuous at the mention of Bai Meiyue and sneered mockingly, “That woman can never do such bold things.”

BANG!

The door of the penthouse was cracked open and a gush of water trickled inside the room. There was another loud bang and the shiny blade of a machete glinted in the little light of the flames that were burning in the room.

Soon the door was kicked open and Bai Meiyue, who stood outside the door, stepped inside. She looked around the room and asked, “Who went to my house last night?”

Director Lu and the rest stiffened when they saw Bai Meiyue entering the house with a bloodied machete.

Xiang Mei looked at Bai Meiyue and then spoke up in an angry voice, “What do you mean by this, Bai Meiyue? No one went to your house last night.”

“How can you break someone’s house door open and barge right inside? Have you lost your mind? Do you even know what the situation is like outside? No, you have to compensate us.”

Others also chimed along.

“Thats right, you have broken the only protective layer of our house; you cannot leave without compensating us. You must pay compensation, hand your house to us and you come here and live.”

“And don’t even think of taking the supplies that you have. You endangered our lives; this is what we deserve.”

“Even if you are crazy, you can’t just go crazy for no reason.”

The noise attracted Bai Qingshi, who rushed out just in time to see Bai Meiyue raise her hand and swing the machete in her hand at Xiang Mei.

The sharp blade jammed into her shoulder blade and soon dyed the floor red.

“AHHHH!” Xiang Mei screamed in pain. She fell on the floor and covered her arm, which was nearly chopped off. She didn’t expect that the woman who could be bullied by just anyone would dare to do such a thing.

Bai Qingshi, who was about to run out and confront Bai Meiyue, was also dumbstruck. He immediately closed the door and didn’t dare to take another step out of the room.

Xiang Mei only tried to break open the door and steal some supplies and Bai Meiyue almost killed her. Compared to that, he had done something much worse; if he stepped out, wouldn’t Bai Meiyue immediately kill him? After all, their grudge was even deeper than the one Bai Meiyue had with Xiang Mei!

It was better if he stayed inside his room and didn’t show his face in front of Bai Meiyue.
