Chapter 169: Don’t put your dog face near my sister
Mother Bai was using the medicine that she had used on Wang Ba and the rest. Bai Meiyue thought it was a good thing that they were already given the necessary treatment before Lei Qian came with her.
If not, this golden boy of her mother would have made everyone take a back seat. Even she, Bai Meiyue, who was the biological daughter of her mother, had to step back when Lei Qian was in the room. She sipped her cola and muttered inwardly, ‘Cai Cai, why didn’t you inherit your father’s slick tongue? Maybe you could have charmed everyone just like this.’
In response, she felt a little churn in her stomach. Looks like her little baby was not happy with the comparison. Haha, someone was disliked.
Bai Meiyue glanced at the little nature spirit that was still working hard by growing the lettuce whose seeds were sprinkled in the small pot that her mother had brought out of the store house. The second the little spirit was done, the lettuce seeds suddenly sprouted and grew into large heads of lettuce.
Not only were the leaves of lettuce green and fresh, but they were bigger and smelt better than any lettuce leaves sold in the market in the past. Bai Meiyue was glad that she had bought the seeds of all kinds of vegetables and fruits; this way, she didn’t have to worry about not being able to eat the fruits that she used to like.
The little spirit that was attached to Mother Bai seemed to have gotten stronger and no longer resembled a small twig; it was bigger and sturdier and no longer needed to cling to Mother Bai all day long.
This meant that Mother Bai was getting stronger as well; it was just that her mother had no idea that she had awakened. Fortunately, Bai Meiyue knew how to circulate the energy of crystal nuclei in the house, which helped her two elder brothers and mother.
Bai Meiyue wanted to tell her mother about her awakening but after seeing Xiang Mei and how she was being pulled around by Bai Xue like a puppy in a dog show, Bai Meiyue changed her mind.
Supernatural beings had not appeared in the world yet and their numbers could still be counted on one hand. She didn’t want her mother to be dragged into a mess like Xiang Mei. While the glory of awakening was something that every supernatural being adored and cherished, they had no idea what was waiting for them in the future.
The leaders of the bases would make use of the little supplies that they had saved after getting the information prior to the rest to make these supernatural beings sign a contract. One that strictly stipulates that they would work for their bases.
At first the ability users were treated really well but then the true and dirty faces of the bases would come out slowly. The base leaders kidnapped the family members of the ability users and then made them work for them without giving these users a day of rest.
Some ability users whose powers were weak to begin with were sucked dry by these base leaders and died.
That was the kind of fate that was waiting for Xiang Mei. Back then Su Hu lied to her under Bai Xue’s orders and told Xiang Mei that his life was in danger, which led Xiang Mei to work until she died.
The same thing happened in Bai Meiyue’s past life and she didn’t see how it was going to change when Xiang Mei was still willing to follow Su Hu and Bai Xue.
Bai Meiyue didn’t want the same thing to happen to her mother. If someone found out that her mother was much more skilled than Xiang Mei and half the nature ability users, she was worried that the base leaders would target her mother.
She might as well suppress the truth in her heart and let everyone think that it was all due to the mutated soil.
Unlike Bai Xue, she didn’t need to rely on her mother to control her team. Her strength was enough to make people follow and respect her. She didn’t need to depend on anyone. More importantly, her focus was to get enough rare supplies that she could use to exchange for a planet where she could start a self-sufficient and safe life for her son.
Bai Meiyue had no plans to take control of others or become a powerful figure like Bai Xue.
Bai Meiyue looked at the lettuce and then turned her head to look at Lei Qian. Even though she didn’t want to share such a good head of lettuce with Lei Qian, she knew that she had to because her mother would definitely hand a few of these lettuce to Lei Qian.
While Bai Meiyue was worried about sharing her food with Lei Qian, Bai Jixuan was glaring and looking at Lei Qian with a pointed look in his eyes. He looked rather dissatisfied with him.
“I thought you wanted Yueyue to marry him,” Bai Zhan coaxed his sons and fed them strawberry cakes that Bai Meiyue brought with her. He had no idea where she found them and from the way his sister was acting, it was quite clear that she was not going to tell him either.
So, he didn’t ask just as he didn’t ask how the bag that she had given him could hold an entire car and not burst. He would wait for his sister to come and tell the truth to him; sooner or later, she would definitely find the truth. Anyway, he knew very well that even if he pushed his sister, she would never speak the truth to him.
“That was before the world ended,” snorted Bai Jixuan. “I was worried that people would bully our sister if she remained unmarried after getting bullied but now who will dare to bully her? So why should we bother with that man? I cannot understand why Mom likes him so much?”
