Chapter 344: Sudden gifts
When Bai Meiyue woke up, she let out a loud sneeze. She felt a bit chilly as the essence inside her room and her body had turned even colder with Ciyi awakening as a sentient being. She got up from her bed and donned more than three layers of clothing before heading downstairs. She saw her mother sitting on the dining table with a bristling expression.

At first she didn’t understand what was going on. But that was until she heard the bits and pieces of discussion that was going on in the house. When Bai Meiyue heard the glorious things that her mother had done last night, she was speechless.

It seemed like she had indirectly influenced her mother. Never before had her mother dared to do such a thing but after staying with her, Mother Bai was suddenly getting bolder than she was in the past.

Bai Meiyue ignored the inquisitive looks that were being thrown at her mother and sat down. She saw that even though her mother was not happy with her decision, she was still willing to take care of her. Her mother stewed an old hen for her to eat all morning.

Given how much her mother treated this old hen as a treasure, it showed her pure concern for her daughter.

When Bai Meiyue looked at the freshly stewed chicken soup with goji berries and other precious herbs. Usually her mother would be stingy when it came to using these things but now she was doing it for her sake.

Sure enough. Having a mother was a blessing for a child.

In her past life, because she didn’t have Mother Bai by her side, no one protected her and even treated her casually. Forget about drinking warm soup; she was not even allowed to drink the drinks that she brought with her when she went on a hunt with others. Bai Meiyue sipped on the warm soup happily, feeling refreshed and calm. But then her senses caught onto a noise that was coming from outside and she frowned when she heard it coming from right outside her entrance.

She drank a few more sips of the soup and took a bite of the chicken leg before setting down the bowl and heading out of the house.

However, she didn’t rush to the spot where the quarrel was happening and instead watched the show quietly. At first she had no idea what was happening but soon she realised that the source of the quarrel was Zhou Hongbei and Shen Zhen.

When Bai Meiyue saw the two of them raising their hands and waving them, she suddenly got curious. What was happening? She stepped a bit closer and noticed Lu Jingguo standing in front of the two of them with Lu Xinran and the other members of the team, which was led by Bai Feng.

What were they doing here?

Bai Meiyue arched one brow and continued to watch the show in front of her.

“Brother Zhou, I know that it is a bit awkward. But we do not mean any harm; when we were looking for supplies, we ended up finding a few baby and children supplies. These things are not of any use to us. You can keep them with you; treat it as a gift.” Lu Jingguo flashed a flattering smile.

If someone was to look at his flattering attitude, they could have never imagined that this man was the same one who was condemning Bai Meiyue and the rest of her team for living their lives without understanding the situation.

While Lu Jingguo was determined to make acquaintance with someone from Bai Meiyue’s faction, Zhou Hongbei and Shen Zhen were a bit worried. The reason for their worries was simple.

They knew that Bai Meiyue had no good feelings towards Bai Xue and the rest of the Bai family; since she didn’t like them, she naturally didn’t like Bai Feng, who was determined to protect that family.

Since Bai Meiyue didn’t like that family, how could they accept their gifts? Wouldn’t this offend Bai Meiyue? When Shen Zhen and Zhou Hongbei thought about the consequences that they might have to face if Bai Meiyue were to find out the good thing that they had done, they thought she might kick them out.

Thus, Zhou Hongbei shook his head and politely smiled and said to Lu Jingguo, “There is no need for you to worry about this. We have enough baby supplies and we don’t need more for the time being. Please take them back.”

Shen Zhen also nodded with a polite smile. “That’s right. We brought enough supplies when we went out yesterday. There is no need to bring more supplies with us for the time being. I think the ones that we have are enough.”

Of course Lu Jingguo also understood their rejection but when he thought about the commands that Bai Feng gave him, he shuddered and finally decided to do the things in the rogue way. He placed the bags that he was carrying on the floor and said to Shen Zhen and Zhou Hongbei, “But these things are useless in our hands. We don’t need them, as we have no need for these toys and baby powder. If you take them, then you can at least make use of them.”

After he finished speaking, he took a step back and then another before turning around and walking. Lu Xinran flashed the two a sheepish smile before she followed suit.

When the rest of the team saw them leaving, they did the same thing. They turned on their heels and ran away. What were they supposed to do? This was the command of the leader himself.

“Hey!” Zhou Hongbei was stunned when he saw the actions of Lu Jingguo and his team. He immediately chased after them and said, “Take these things back!”
