Chapter 380: Yu Miaomiao
“Is something the matter, Master Yang?” A beautiful woman dressed in a lab coat walked into the office and glanced at the soldier who was kneeling on the floor and shivering with fright. She arched a willow-like brow and then turned to look at Master Yang before questioning, “Did something happen?”
“It is a good thing that you came here, Miaomiao.” Master Yang addressed Yu Miaomiao before explaining the things that happened last night. Once he finished speaking, he said to her, “How is this possible? Tell me, didn’t you arrange for everything to go according to Commander Yun’s will? How come things went south all of a sudden?”
Thinking about how Yu Miaomiao took over the responsibility, Chief Yang couldn’t help but blame her.
When Yu Miaomiao heard that the east city base had been cleaned overnight, she couldn’t help but frown. As far as she knew, it shouldn’t have happened. Unless—
“It seemed like someone was foolish enough to throw their life away casually,” stated Yu Miaomiao with a cold glint flashing in her eyes. She couldn’t believe that someone dared to gamble with their life. Yu Miaomiao couldn’t help but curl her lips in derision when she thought about how there was such a foolish person.
When Chief Yang heard her response, he narrowed his eyes and remarked, “Then doesn’t that mean that the vaccine you and your team prepared is full of loopholes? Doctor Yu, you assured me that the vaccines prepared were foolproof. That there wouldn’t be any problems. Now, what do you mean by this?”
When Yu Miaomiao heard the blame in Chief Yang’s voice, she couldn’t help but snort inwardly. But on the outside, she strode over to where the man was sitting and started rubbing his shoulders when she came to stand behind him. She said to him, “Don’t worry too much, Chief Yang. It was simply an unfortunate incident that this time around, we ended up suffering a loss. However, not everyone would be foolish enough to always throw away their life.”
Her eyes flashed with murderous intent as she said, “But we do need to investigate the situation at the east base. If someone cleared up the entire base, then I am afraid that they are not simple.”
“You are right,” Chief Yang nodded and agreed. His eyes were filled with the same brutality as Yu Miaomiao’s. When he thought about how his carefully arranged plan was thrown into chaos because of someone, he truly wanted to go on a rampage.
But now was not the time. He was not aware of the dangers outside, and from what he could see, there were bigger fish in the sea. The world had changed, and he could no longer act like a tyrant anymore. If he wanted to survive, then he needed to be careful.
Instead of charging right ahead, Chief Yang needed to first see how deep the sea was, as well as the strength of the person who was behind the massacre.
“Achoo!” Bai Meiyue woke up in her bed only to find the thermostat in her room showing that the temperature had reached minus twenty degrees. She rubbed her arms and increased the temperature of the heater. Only then did she feel a bit better.
It had been a month since she had cleared up the base that was being built. After a month of cultivation, as well as soaking in the energy that was within Boss Yun’s core, Bai Meiyue had jumped to a fifth-level ability user. In her past life, she reached the sixth level after two years of continuous training before she passed away.
However, thanks to the knowledge that she had gained in her past life, Bai Meiyue was able to cross the threshold that took her more than a year in just a few months.
Her two brothers, Bai Zhan and Bai Jixuan, also reached the third level, while the rest of the team also broke past the second level. As for the Liu siblings, they had just awakened.
With a team like this, Bai Meiyue was certain that she would have been counted as one of the powerhouses of the bases in her past life. But Bai Meiyue had no such desires in this life. Thus, even though she had one of the strongest ability users, she had done nothing other than collect supplies and exchange the crystal nuclei with the barter system.
Of course if the situation called for it, she was prepared to reap the souls of those who tried to hurt her or family.
“Yueyue?” Bai Meiyue got up from the bed and opened the door of her room. Peering up at her elder brother, she asked, “What happened?”
“Mom’s calling you for breakfast,” Bai Zhan replied with a smile as she looked down at his little sister. These past few days, Bai Zhan had gotten even closer and more protective of Bai Meiyue, and he was now just as fussy as Mother Bai. Seeing the child grow in his sister’s womb, Bai Zhan was really worried and anxious but at the same time, he was inexplicably filled with a warmth that he couldn’t explain.
Bai Meiyue nodded as she agreed to go downstairs with her brother. “Let me freshen up, Brother Zhan. I will head downstairs in a while.”
“Alright, hurry up or the food will get cold.”
Bai Meiyue hummed as she closed the door and went to the bathing room to take a shower. Once she was done, she changed into a new set of clothes and headed out of the room. When she arrived downstairs, she saw her mother taking out steaming hot pork buns.
“You are up.” Mother Bai raised her head and looked at her daughter with a smile on her face. She glanced at the oversized shirt that Bai Meiyue was wearing and sighed. She had been hoping for some kind of positive response from the Lei family, but it seemed like Bai Meiyue had no desire to let their family find out about her pregnancy.
