Chapter 387: Importance of Doctors (3)
Bai Meiyue looked at the heavy pouch that was filled with crystal nuclei and said, “I didn’t do anything.” She refused to take the crystal nuclei and remarked, “They are the ones who deserve it more.” She tipped her head towards Zhou Hongbei and Shen Zhen, who were resting on the bench along with the nurses.
“Of course I know that,” Lu Jingguo said to Bai Meiyue. He smiled and then said, “We have already arranged enough crystal nuclei for them; these are for you. You need to take these, Miss Bai.”
He refused to take the crystal nuclei back and insisted that Bai Meiyue take them. Though they had once looked down on Bai Meiyue, they knew that this team was led by her. As long as they showed enough respect to her, her team would have nothing to say against them.
What’s more, in the past, they had laughed at Bai Meiyue for bringing so many useless people back home.
In their eyes, supporting those who had not awakened was nothing but foolishness. While they had no choice but to listen to Bai Xue, Bai Meiyue had a choice, and yet she brought these people along with her.
What good would it do her if she brought more than ten babies? Not to mention, the doctors and nurses were not awakened users. They couldn’t kill zombies, nor could they bring supplies. They were nothing but a burden which would sooner or later suppress Bai Meiyue and her team.
At least this was what they thought till today.
But after the incident that took place with Tan Jiu, they realised that they were the ones who were thinking too naively.
The contempt that they had for Bai Meiyue turned into respect when they realised that no matter what world they were living in, they could never disrespect the doctors. So what if they became ability users? So what if their wounds got healed in a matter of a few hours or minutes? They could survive, but what about their loved ones who did not awaken? What would happen to them?
In the end, no matter what kind of world they were living in at the moment, they would always need doctors and nurses. Among them, only Bai Meiyue was the one who had the vision to see things more clearly. Unlike them, who were drowned in their arrogance, Bai Meiyue could see things much more clearly.
“Just hand them to the nurses,” Bai Meiyue stated coldly. “Since money is useless in this time and era, just hand over the right amount of crystal nuclei. There is no need for you to be polite with me.”
As she finished speaking, one of the nurses stepped forward and said to Lu Jingguo, “Please come with me; I will register your name. We will charge you according to the medical supplies and resources used; don’t worry.”
Once the nurse finished speaking Lu Jingguo’s face turned red with shame.
Of course, Bai Meiyue did this because she wanted to embarrass this man. Who asked him to take out a handful of crystal nuclei and show off in front of her? Did he think that she was a beggar who would feel happy with just a few crystal nuclei?
Soon these nuclei would become the money bills of this new world. And compared to the supplies that were used on Tan Jiu’s injuries, these nuclei were not even enough. Lu Jingguo was only handing out a handful of crystal nuclei; how could it be enough for the supplies that were used on Tan Jiu?
It was similar to handing out pennies while buying rubies.
Who was Bai Meiyue? She had enough crystal nuclei to buy two houses in the safe bases. Did Lu Jingguo take her as a small server who could be sent away with just a few pennies? He must be dreaming. Bai Meiyue was not Bai Xue, who would feel satisfied even if she was given a few crystal nuclei. Nor would she try to flatter anyone.
“I apologise; I was rude.” After Bai Meiyue finished speaking, Lu Jingguo realised that he did act a tad bit inappropriately just now. Bai Meiyue was not someone who would be impressed by such a small amount of crystal nuclei.
He turned to look at the nurse and handed her the crystal nuclei, washing off the embarrassment that was crashing against him. The nurse, of course, noticed that the nuclei were not enough so she asked him to bring more, as they were not enough.
When Lu Jingguo heard that the crystal nuclei were not enough, he felt his heart tremble. He turned to look at his team members and said to them, “Go on, take out the crystal nuclei that you are carrying. I promise that I will return it all to you in some time.”
Tan Jiu was his aunt’s only son. Now that his aunt’s entire family had turned into zombies and only Tan Jiu was left alive, he couldn’t let him die.
Once Lu Jingguo said those words, the rest of the team members had no other choice but to take out the crystal nuclei that they were carrying with them. Soon a small pile appeared in front of the nurse, who nodded at Lu Jingguo and the rest of his team.
Even Bai Meiyue felt satisfied; at least these people were smart enough to understand the value of one’s life and the effort it took in saving someone.
Once the entire team handed her the crystal nuclei, the nurse in charge of collecting them turned to look at Bai Meiyue and asked her, “What should I do with them? How should I distribute these crystal nuclei in the team?”
“Just bring them to Doctor Zhou and ask him to distribute the crystal nuclei between you all. Divide as you all like; this is what you deserve and no one is going to take it from you.”
Bai Meiyue didn’t want to take half of the crystal nuclei, as she didn’t think that she deserved them.
“Miss Bai, are you sure?”
