Chapter 39: Handling scum

Bai Meiyue touched her belly instinctively. She couldn’t help but sigh as she said to her son in her heart, “Xiao Cai, your father is not a bad person. Since he has helped, then your mother will also give him a hand. As for whether he understands and takes your mother’s advice, it’s up to him.”

“Bai Meiyue, what do you mean?” Lei Qian couldn’t understand what Bai Meiyue meant.

However, Bai Meiyue had no intention to explain. Even if she were to tell Lei Qian that the world was coming to an end, Bai Meiyue didn’t think that he would believe her. So she might as well save her breath.

She didn’t care what Lei Qian thought about her and walked back inside the penthouse; as long as Lei Qian called his parents and asked them to come back, it would be enough.

Lei Qian, who was abandoned outside, was speechless. What was going on? How did Bai Meiyue know that his parents were in Cloud City?

Bai Meiyue didn’t bother with Lei Qian as she had her own troubles. As soon as she stepped inside, Yan Wanning and her brothers who had already helped her two nephews to fall asleep on the couch, looked at her sternly.

Yan Wanning looked at her daughter and said to her, “Bai Meiyue, come here.”

Bai Meiyue sighed. She knew that her mother was not going to let her escape, so she calmly walked over and sat down. What followed was what Bai Meiyue had already expected; her mother and two brothers took turns to question her about that night.

But Bai Meiyue didn’t say a word. She repeatedly told her mother, elder and second brother that she was fine and there was nothing wrong with her.

However, the more she acted like this, the more Yan Wanning, Bai Zhan, and Bai Jixuan became certain that there was something wrong with her. If nothing happened that night, then why did Bai Meiyue cry so badly? Something severe must have happened and it was so humiliating that Bai Meiyue dared not tell them about it!

The three of them angrily planned to go to the police station first and question Bai Qingshi; if that man didn’t say anything, then they would head over to Bai Meiyue’s company and cause trouble. Anyway, they were barefooted farmers and had nothing to worry about!

Bai Meiyue looked at her family and was speechless. She was thinking about calling Lu Ling and warning him not to cause trouble for her mother and two elder brothers when the man called her himself.

Her lips curled up in delight as she answered the call.

“Hello?”

“Bai Meiyue!!! What have you done to me?” Lu Ling had never been in so much pain before. His entire body was covered with sweat and he couldn’t even sit down; the second something touched his skin, he felt like hot needles were pressing against his entire body.

He went to get an examination done but nothing could be traced back and the doctors even told him that it was all in his head. Like hell it was!

“I told you that if you don’t listen to me, then you will be in trouble,” Bai Meiyue replied, her lips curling in a smirk. “But you thought that I was lying, CEO Lu. It’s not my fault.”

Lu Ling was furious when he heard Bai Meiyue’s languid voice; he snapped at her harshly, “Come here and give me the antidote!”

“Is this how you are supposed to be begging for favour?”

“Bai Meiyue!”

“Don’t yell.” Bai Meiyue pulled away the phone and calmly said to Lu Ling, “You already know the terms to get the antidote; as long as you are willing to hand me the weapons that I want, then I will hand you the antidote.”

“Bai Meiyue, you—”

“And there is one other matter: my family will come to your company and demand justice for me. Make sure to deal with them politely; if I hear that you have done anything to disrespect them, then, CEO Lu, our deal will be off. After all, I can get these weapons from somewhere else but you might not be able to get the antidote from somewhere else.”

Once she was done speaking, she ended the call, leaving Lu Ling to fume. Once he got his hands on the antidote, he would teach this bitch a good lesson.

On the other hand, as soon as Bai Meiyue ended the call, her phone started to ring again. She frowned and looked down at the screen of her phone.

The second she saw the name on the screen, her eyes flashed with mockery.

She answered the call at the fourth ring, “Brother Feng.”

“Meiyue,” a cold and refreshing voice answered from the other end of the phone. “How have you been?”

“I am alright. Have you returned from Country A?” Bai Meiyue questioned. It seemed like Bai Qingshi was really at his wits end; he actually called his illegitimate son to help him out of the prison.

Unlike Bai Xue, Bai Feng, who was born from a small maid, had a rather awkward position in the Bai family.

One could see how much Bai Qingshi wanted to wash off his past, where he relied on a woman, that he would rather train a son born from a small maid than to train her brothers.

But because Bai Feng never acted like a monster in front of her, Bai Meiyue had nothing against this man even if he was her half brother.

“I returned last night,” Bai Feng replied coldly from the other side. “Meiyue, can you tell me why—”

“Why are you talking so much nonsense? Just ask that bitch to come here and pull back her complaint!”

Hearing Chu Xia’s voice, Bai Meiyue understood that it was Bai Qingshi and Chu Xia who asked Bai Feng to return a month early and help them out of the prison.

“Brother Feng, if you have called me to pull back my complaint, then I am sorry I cannot do it. You are a smart man and I will not say the ugly words but the things that Bai Qingshi and Chu Xia have done, I can never forgive or forget them.”

“For the sake of our past relationship, I will not say anything harsh to you but don’t call me again; if not, I might slip some more secrets, like how our father was planning to smuggle our country’s technology to other countries.”

“That would surely put him in quite a bit of trouble, wouldn’t it?”
