Chapter 390: Future Worries
Bai Meiyue and her convoy returned with the supplies. As soon as they returned, they attracted the attention of the soldiers who were patrolling outside the makeshift barricade. Bai Meiyue noticed that these soldiers who were patrolling were different.
She arched a brow and looked at the changes in the guards and curled her lips. The one who took charge was not a simple person, like Boss Yun. Given that this person handed a rifle in the hands of these guards with enough ammunition to turn a perfect human being into a sieve, it could be seen that the one in charge was not someone who knew mercy.
Fortunately, she had prepared everything already, or else Bai Meiyue would have been worried. By the time they reached the first safe point, it was already noon, and Bai Jixuan was the one who was driving the RV this time around. He was careful not to bump into any of the speed breakers and allowed the soldiers to examine them carefully.
Even Bai Meiyue didn’t resist and let them do the basic check-up. Though neither of them did anything to stop or offend the soldiers, they still attracted a lot of attention. And it was all because of the medical supplies that they were carrying in their vehicles.
Not far from the checkpoint, there was a woman in a white coat in her late twenties. She was holding the latest binoculars and looking at the convoy that was being held at the checkpoint. Her eyes were shining with a cold glint, and her beautiful face, though smiling, was covered with a layer of ice.
She could see that there was something weird about the convoy as it was taking a long time to clear up, but at the same time, she was too unbothered to use her skills on such a small thing. She turned to look at the buzzer sitting next to her, and with her fingers that were worthy of playing only the piano, the woman tapped on the buzzer.
No sooner did she finish pushing the buzzer than a man who was waiting outside stepped right into her office. She turned to look at him and pointed to the convoy that was stuck at the checkpoint, and then said to him, “What’s going on there?”
The soldier had already been keeping an eye on the situation outside. Thus, he knew what was going on and immediately replied, “They are the residents of the Sunshine Deluxe Apartments. From what I found out, these two teams are led by a woman called Bai Meiyue and a man called Bai Feng.”
“As for why they are taking so long to clear up the checkpoint, it’s because they brought back a lot of medical supplies, and we need to take a look at whether they have brought something else other than that with them.”
“Medical supplies…” Yu Miaomiao’s eyes flashed when she heard the response of the soldier.
“That’s right,” The soldier nodded and continued, “Commander Yu, why are these people collecting the medical supplies? Shouldn’t they be collecting food supplies? What’s the point of coming out and killing zombies if they are only going to collect medical supplies? Isn’t it foolish?” The soldier couldn’t help but wonder if these people were idiots who were collecting just about anything that they could get their hands on.
“Maybe to us they are fools, but who knows? They might have a vision stronger and broader than we can see.” Yu Miaomiao didn’t believe that these ability users were fools. Especially when she saw Bai Meiyue kill the zombies with a quick flick of her wrist, which summoned a water hydra.
A woman as strong as her wouldn’t do anything useless.
Yu Miaomiao’s eyes narrowed as she recalled the things that she had heard about Bai Meiyue from that woman and wondered if this was the same person that woman was talking about. However, this Bai Meiyue was certainly not as gloomy and depressed as that woman said, though.
She said to the soldier, “Go and find someone who was living in the Sunshine Deluxe Apartments. As soon as you find them, try to recruit them, no matter what the position.” Yu Miaomiao turned to look at Bai Meiyue, who had cleared a large number of zombies with just one move. “Such a strong ability user; if we could recruit her in our army, then no one would dare to offend us.” Letting her stay among the common folks would be a shame.
“As you say, Commander Yu,” the soldier replied. He then paused and handed the file that had been given to him by his colleague. “When we investigated Mr Bai Feng under your orders, we found out some shocking information.”
Yu Miaomiao took the file and started reading the information that was collected in the files. When she saw Lei Qian’s name, her eyes flashed with a hint of enamour. She took a look at the information recorded in the file and then turned the page over to look at his photo. The second Yu Miaomiao’s eyes fell on that enchanting face, her face turned red.
She said to the soldier, “Bring this man to me. No matter what conditions he puts forth, you have to agree and bring him to the military.”
After she finished speaking, she closed the file and turned to look at the fight going on in the street once again. Her sonorous voice echoed in the room as if she were certain that Lei Qian would agree to join the military no matter what the price.
Or maybe the woman believed in her charm so much that she thought that she could enchant any man as she liked and wanted.
At that moment, Bai Meiyue had no idea that she and Lei Qian were already being targeted. She had used her water ability to create a water hydra which was spitting out warm water that melted the zombies in a matter of seconds and cleared the path for her convoy to pass.
