Chapter 394: A Dangerous Barter
Maybe Bai Meiyue was right. In troubled times, they needed to take extraordinary steps. Otherwise, if they stayed put, then she was worried that the world would come to an end before it truly ended.

So, Shen Zhen agreed with what Bai Meiyue said. They soon arrived at the apartment building where they parked the RV and took advantage of the night. They brought the medical supplies to the floor where Bai Meiyue lived. Even though there was not enough space, they somehow managed to stock the supplies in a corner.

While Bai Meiyue headed inside her house, Shen Zhen pulled Zhou Hongbei into her room along with the rest of the nurses to hold a meeting with them.

Seeing Shen Zhen get busy with her own thing, Mother Bai also hurried out of the kitchen. When she saw her daughter, she swelled like a bullfrog. Mother Bai expected Bai Meiyue to leave the house for a few hours, but who would have thought that she would vanish for more than an entire day!

She was pregnant for more than three months; what was she thinking running around like that? Originally, she wanted to scold Bai Meiyue as she was really dissatisfied and angry with her. After all, her daughter was acting simply ignorant. How could she run around when she was carrying a child?

Did she think being pregnant was such a simple thing?

When Bai Meiyue saw the expression on the face of her mother, she couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty. The more guilty she felt, the more Bai Meiyue knew that the scolding she was going to receive was going to be really impressive. Thus, she hurriedly let out a yawn to show that she was tired.

She also emphasised, “Mom, I am really tired. We didn’t get a chance to sleep last night.”

Hearing this, Mother Bai, who was about to hurl a diatribe at her daughter, choked. She looked at her daughter’s face and could only hold back her anger when she saw that Bai Meiyue really did look tired. Fine. She would let the child sleep first, but once she woke up, Mother Bai was determined to teach the child a lesson.

Her daughter was being way too careless. Did she think that becoming a mother was just that simple?

When Bai Meiyue saw that her mother had allowed her to go to her bedroom, she heaved a sigh inwardly. Fortunately, she was able to pass the obstruction and could reach her room with ease.

Though Bai Meiyue found it easy to return to her bedroom, her two brothers didn’t have it that easy. As soon as Bai Meiyue left, Mother Bai turned to look at the two Bai brothers and yelled at them at the top of her lungs.

“Do you two even have a brain? How can you let your sister, who is pregnant, run around with you like this? Are you trying to get her killed!?” Mother Bai was furious. Many women have lost their lives because they were not careful when they were pregnant and ended up having a miscarriage.

Her sons could not understand the importance of such things, but Mother Bai, who had given birth to three children, knew how hard it was for her to give birth without getting the basic care that she needed as a pregnant woman.

The first time she gave birth, she nearly died.

That was all because she didn’t care about her life and death.

Bai Zan and Bai Jixuan, who were scolded until their ears started to bleed, wanted to cry but had no tears. What were they supposed to do? Their sister was the one who planned and dealt with everything and when they didn’t listen to her, she threatened them with the threat that she would not bring them along the next time.

It was already late at night, and Bai Meiyue was sitting on her bed while skimming through the barter exchange system. She found a few good things that she exchanged for jade bracelets and rings. She was about to close the window when she suddenly found something even more interesting.

It was a book and from the description of it, it was a book written by an immortal and included all kinds of medical treatment methods, whether traditional or western. And it came with a built-in touch function, which meant that as long as a person touched the book, he or she would end up learning everything that was written inside her book.

When Bai Meiyue read the description, she thought that the original poster was lying way too much. No wonder no one was willing to buy it.

Originally, she was going to ignore it as well, but Bai Meiyue didn’t know why but for some reason, couldn’t just get past the post that was in front of her. A part of her wanted to ignore it, but her heart kept telling her to buy it.

Bai Meiyue didn’t know what was going on. In the end, she let out a sigh and took a look at the exchange request. When she found out that the op wanted nothing more than a few sacks of rice, she thought that this was definitely a dud, but she still followed her heart and exchanged the book.

Once the barter request was done, Bai Meiyue found herself back in the room. She was sitting on the bed, with the book in front of her.

“I must have lost my mind,” she muttered while looking at the book that was lying in front of her. It was not only old and frail-looking, but Bai Meiyue was sure that there was no such thing as one-touch knowledge.

She sighed and reached out to grab hold of the book. However, as soon as she touched it, Bai Meiyue found a sudden rush of blood flowing right into her head, and her eyes rolled back in their sockets as she fainted right on the bed.
