Chapter 427: A Rather Ruthless Character
“Nothing.” Lei Qian smiled at her while being lost in his own thoughts.

Bai Meiyue rolled her eyes as she turned around on her feet and headed out of the room, and when Lei Qian saw her leave, he immediately chased after her. He said to her, “Where are you going?”

“Home”, Bai Meiyue turned to look at the man who was running after her. She said to him, “I am tired.” She was indeed tired; this was her first time doing acupuncture, and Bai Meiyue, who was carrying a child, couldn’t work hard for continuous hours. It was rather strenuous for her body.

When Lei Qian heard that she was tired, he stopped chasing and allowed Bai Meiyue to walk away from him. He wanted to follow her, but when he thought about how his grandfather still needed him, he could only sigh and return to the room where Old Master Lei was resting.

On the other hand, when Bai Meiyue arrived at her home, she was pulled inside by Mother Bai. As soon as she pulled Bai Meiyue inside the house, Mother Bai looked her up and down, and the first thing she asked was, “Is my grandson alright?”

“He is fine.” Bai Meiyue was amused by the actions of her mother. Just a few days ago, she was chattering about how Bai Meiyue needed to abort Little Cai Cai. But now that Mother Bai had accepted that she was going to become a grandmother, she was really worried about her grandchild, even more than her daughter.

“Are you really okay? Did you eat something? It is not good to stay hungry for long hours when you are in this situation.” Mother Bai told Bai Meiyue, who nodded and replied, “Don’t worry about me too much, Mom. I am fine, and the child is fine as well. I did eat something; now I am a bit tired and want to sleep.”

When Mother Bai heard that her daughter had eaten something, she waved her hand and said to her, “How can this be done? The food outside is, of course, not as good as the food cooked by your own mother. Not to mention, who knows how long the supplies outside might be lying there? You should eat something warm.”

After speaking, she pulled Bai Meiyue to the kitchen, where she started to cook a warm meal for Bai Meiyue. As she cooked, she nagged Bai Meiyue, who listened quietly because she knew that there was no point in telling her mother that she had a space pocket that she could use to store food and water for a long time.

As far as she knew, with how worried her mother was about everything, she would definitely not listen to a word that she had to say. If anything, Mother Bai might just as well declare the supplies in her space pocket as unhealthy. No matter how fresh they were. Bai Meiyue knew her mother and she knew how the mind of that woman worked.

She let her nag her and continued to finish her meal. Once she was done eating, she turned to look at her mother and told her that she was going to sleep.

Mother Bai agreed at once. In truth, Mother Bai hoped that her daughter would lie on the bed until her pregnancy was over. She didn’t wish for her daughter to run all over the place.

Bai Meiyue listened to the nagging of her mother and was speechless. She really couldn’t listen anymore and rushed upstairs. She wanted to ask her mother how she could give birth if she continued to lie on the bed, but she was afraid to hear something that would turn her speechless, so she closed her eyes and ears before rushing upstairs.

Bai Meiyue wished to tell her mother that she was going to be alright; she was not like those novice mothers who had no idea what to do when they were pregnant or whether what they were doing was wrong or right. She had already given birth once and Bai Meiyue knew her limits really well.

What’s more, Bai Meiyue had more worries than just taking care of her child. Yu Miaomiao, that crazy woman who was behind the crazy theory of using the children of the ability users to refine pills to awaken commoners, was now in charge of building a base around the sunshine complex.

This complex, which was once her haven, had turned into an unsafe region because of that woman.

She was already almost four months pregnant; Bai Meiyue knew that she could no longer take any risks. If Yu Miaomiao set her eyes on her child, then that woman would naturally try to attack her son.

Bai Meiyue could not allow this to happen, which meant that she had to hide. This was not the time for her to take adventurous risks by running to Yu Miaomiao’s base and killing her. She was different from Boss Yun. That woman was so careful that even getting close to her would leave Bai Meiyue with enough injuries for her to lie in bed for several days.

Much less fighting with her.

Bai Meiyue felt really tired and uneasy. Her posture continued to shift from one form to another. The uneasy feeling came from the fact that her sanctuary had turned into a dangerous one, and as much as Bai Meiyue didn’t like it, she had to accept it.

She was lost in her thoughts, but even after thinking long and hard, Bai Meiyue didn’t even know how to deal with the next thing or where to go or find a new place to stay. She took off her jacket and lay down on the bed wearing only a tank top. Her eyes fluttered closed.

Bai Meiyue didn’t even know when she fell asleep, as she felt like she hadn’t even slept a wink, but when she opened her eyes, she saw that the sky had turned dark.
