Chapter 51: Arrange a funeral for you?

After comforting the two children, the entire family sat down together and finished their meal.

Once they were done with their meal, the entire family sat down and started watching the television. Bai Zhan was watching the news reports as the rain hadn’t stopped and was not showing any signs of stopping. Seeing the situation, Bai Zhan couldn’t help but worry about the future.

The news that was being shown on the television was about Cloud City. According to the news reporter, there were troubles in Cloud City; as per the reports, a few tourists went to the mountain region for hiking and as a result, the entire group of tourists went missing!

Their families were trying to search for them but they couldn’t find even the smallest trace of these people who disappeared.

Thunder clapped outside in the sky, leaving a harsh glare on Bai Meiyue’s face.

While taking her vitamins, Bai Meiyue glanced at the news report. It was obvious that there was something more going on at Cloud City, but the news was being controlled really harshly. If not for the fact that Cloud City was really big and it was impossible to suppress such big news.

But Bai Meiyue had to admit that the officials had done a really good job in suppressing the information. If not for the fact that Bai Meiyue had already experienced the tragedy of living, even she would have never sensed that something was amiss.

Even though she was miles away from Cloud City, Bai Meiyue could still smell the scent of blood and rotting corpses because she knew that those tourists who went missing were most likely dead!

For a moment, Bai Meiyue, despite knowing everything, panicked. It was as if she was back in the times where the zombies and mutated animals were already running rampant. She knew that the world was going to end but with this news making it to the television channels, the thoughts that she had in her mind slowly turned into reality.

After thinking about it a little, Bai Meiyue once again snuck out of the house and went to the supermarket, where she bought the clothes for children, including books and toys.

She also brought some frozen meat and milk powder.

Along that, she also brought self-heating hot pots, water purifiers, creams, laundry detergent, facial cleanser, small fans, candles, torches, drones, telescopes, night vision goggles, toilet paper, and sanitary napkins.

Aside from that, she also brought tablets, shoes, sleds, and speedboats.

She also bought more gasoline, fuel, and oil containers and used the connections that she had snatched from Lu Ling to get her hands on some bulletproof vests.

With her hands on the steering wheel, she turned the car to the left and was heading towards the farmer’s market to buy some vegetables and some fruit seeds that she could grow at home when her phone started ringing.

She looked down at the string of numbers and frowned because she did not recognise this number. Just as she was hesitating whether to pick up this call or not, her heart suddenly started feeling a bit tense, which led to her answering the call,

“Meiyue!”

As soon as she answered the call, Lei Qian, who was on the side of the call, heaved a sigh of relief as he called out to Bai Meiyue.

Bai Meiyue was quite surprised when she heard Lei Qian’s voice; she never thought that this man would be able to call her even after going to the cloud city that had been cut off from the rest of the world.

“Brother, didn’t you say that you cannot make a call? Who did you call? Ask them to come and help us or else we are going to die—”

“Shut up!” Lei Qian snapped at his sister.

He was about to die and felt sad when he thought about how he was never going to get a chance to chase after his goddess. Lei Qian had loved Bai Meiyue from the very day he met her but couldn’t make a move as she was already involved with someone.

And now that he finally got a chance to chase after her, he was about to die a horrible death!

Lei Qian was so upset that he wanted to cry tears of blood.

And this was his final chance to confess his love to Bai Meiyue, and yet his sister, this light bulb, couldn’t read the room.

Lei Yan was stunned when she was scolded by her brother. Her eyes turned red but she no longer disturbed her brother.

Bai Meiyue sensed something amiss when she heard the sounds coming from the other side and arched his brow when she realised that something was amiss.

“Hey, are you surrounded by mutated beasts?” Bai Meiyue questioned when she heard a loud bang followed by a roaring chattering sound.

Maybe Lei Qian was hiding somewhere close where the beasts had concentrated or maybe the phone that he was using was quite sensitive but she was able to hear a very familiar and nostalgic sound. So, the mutated animals had started to appear? Her hands and feet were suddenly feeling really itchy when she heard the roaring chatter of the mutated rats. If possible, she wished she could go to Cloud City and kill these mutated rats.

Lei Qian didn’t say anything; his mind was lagging and he didn’t sense anything amiss. All he was worried about was how to tell Bai Meiyue that he was about to die and he might not be able to take her responsibility. Or the fact that he had let her down?

Seeing that Lei Qian was silent, Bai Meiyue understood that he had been trapped and there was no chance of him getting out of the cloud city. She couldn’t help but tease him, “Are you scared? I never thought that a big man like you would be scared of some mutated rats?”

This time around, Lei Qian heard Bai Meiyue’s words much more clearly and his lagging mind suddenly cleared up. He asked, “Meiyue, how do you know that there are mutated rats?”

“I told you to be careful, didn’t I?” Bai Meiyue curled her lips and snorted. “You didn’t take my word seriously, did you? Whatever, now that you are about to die, shall I arrange the funeral for you? Since you have helped me this much, this is the least I can do for you.”
