Chapter 60: Lu Yin

“If a rat with its intestine spilling out of its stomach can attack you, why is it impossible for a human to turn into one?” Bai Meiyue ruthlessly broke the fantasy that Lei Yan was having about the world returning to its usual state. “As your brother has helped me a few times, I will offer some advice to you and your family. Stock up on as much food as possible when the world is yet to completely fall. Because once the world ends, I am afraid that you will have no such opportunities.”

Though Bai Meiyue was not very patient, she was still willing to help the Lei family. Because no matter what, Lei Qian was the father of her son, and the Lei family was also related to her son. She couldn’t watch them starve to death.

Lei Yan and Lu Yu were terrified when they heard Bai Meiyue’s warning. They looked at one another and even though they didn’t say anything, they could see their mirror in each other’s eyes.

Bai Meiyue didn’t care if they believed her or not; she simply said to them, “You should think it over. It’s not going to take too long and it might do you some good if you cover the windows and doors such that no water would be able to get in.”

After she finished, she turned around on her feet and walked away.

Behind her, Lei Yan was trembling so much that she almost staggered and fell on the floor. If not for Lu Yu, who helped her, she would have fallen back and hit her head on the floor.

“Brother Lu, what am I going to do?” she turned to look at Lu Yu while clutching his arms and said to him, “It was so terrifying! You have no idea how scary it was to be surrounded by those mutated rats; how will I survive if that virus is spread to humans and they turn into zombies like those rats?”

Lei Yan had seen and felt the terror of being surrounded by those mutated rats and couldn’t help but lose her mind a little. She thought that as long as she returned home, she would be safe. Who would have thought that the situation would only turn even worse from here on out? What was she going to do now? She did not want to live in a world as terrifying as the one that Bai Meiyue painted in front of her!

Lu Yu didn’t go to the cloud city with Lei Qian and the rest; thus he did not know what kind of situation Lei Qian and the rest of the Lei family had faced. However, from Lei Yan’s reaction, he could see that it was not optimistic.

He patted her on the back when he saw Lei Yan feeling terrified. He said to her, “Let’s deal with one thing at a time. First we should ask your parents to stay away from your brother for the time being and I will try to get some more resources.”

Lu Yu also thought about bringing his sister to the penthouse; though he did not know much about Bai Meiyue, he was an experienced man. Even though Bai Meiyue did not explain or tell them why she knew so much about the current situation, he had a feeling that her advice was not for show!

He immediately contacted some of the workers to fix Lei Qian’s penthouse and, at the same time, went to brave the water-filled street to bring his sister to the penthouse. If Bai Meiyue was willing to stay here, then it meant that this place was safe!

Lei Yan, on the other hand, walked inside the house and told her parents what Bai Meiyue had said to her. When Mother and Father Lei heard Lei Yan’s words, their first reaction was to refute Bai Meiyue’s claims.

“Nonsense! How can there be such a thing as zombies? That woman is fooling you.”

“That’s right, such a thing only appears in movies.”

“Was what we saw in the cloud city a movie as well? Mom, Dad, don’t forget how we managed to escape from that city!” Lei Yan also didn’t trust Bai Meiyue completely. But when she thought about the dangers that she had faced in the cloud city, Lei Yan gritted her teeth and thought that it was better to trust Bai Meiyue once again, just like her brother.

Who knows? Maybe that woman might be right once again?

On the other side, Lu Yu rushed to the small apartment where he lived with his sister. When he arrived at the house, he was stunned to see that there were many marks on the door. It could be seen that someone tried to break in but failed!

“Lu Yin!” He opened the door and exclaimed.

Lu Yin, who was hiding in the small storeroom of the apartment, rushed out and jumped into the arms of her brother. “Brother Yu, where were you? It’s terrible. As soon as you left, someone tried to break into the house and demanded that I give him the groceries. When I didn’t, he called me a lot of names.”

Her eyes looked at the door with a terrified expression and she questioned, “Brother, is everything alright? What’s going on?”

This was what Lu Yu would like to know!

He gritted his teeth and said to his sister, “Go and pack up all the groceries; we are moving to somewhere else. I think that in a few days this apartment will be flooded.”

When Lu Yin heard the words of her brother, she was even more scared and immediately went to pack her clothes and the groceries that her brother and she had.

However, just as the brother and sister got in the car and drove to the Sunshine Deluxe apartment, they saw a gigantic figure rushing past them and attacking an elderly woman who was trying to cross the flooded street!

A second later the water turned red.

“AHHH!”

“What is that?”
