Chapter 66: Hunting for good things
Bai Meiyue sneered when she saw the crowd running away. They wanted to steal but didn’t have enough guts; it was a clear example of bullying the weak and fearing the strong!
Behind her, Mother Bai was stunned when she saw the actions of her daughter. She truly did not expect such a thing to happen.
When Bai Meiyue told her that she had a way to deal with these people, she never thought that Bai Meiyue was going to deal with them so violently!
“Yueyue, this—”
“Mom, I know that you are worried but you need to understand that the situation is not right at the moment.” Bai Meiyue knew that her mother was worried that those people would file a complaint against her but with the entire city almost flooded, would the police even bother with them?
Not to mention, if she was not wrong, then the information about the receding ocean must have already reached the authorities. With so many things happening at the same time, would the authorities care about theft and threats?
Mother Bai pursed her lips and wrung the rag in her hands worriedly. “But Yueyue, they all live in the same building as you. If you attack them like this, what if they become hostile to you?”
“Then let them become hostile to me, Mom.” Bai Meiyue’s eyes flashed with a fierce glint. The end of the world was coming; who was afraid of who? She turned to look at her mother, who was obviously concerned and placed her hand on her mother’s shoulders.
She comforted her mother, “Mom, there is no point in acting polite with people like them. Do you think that if I were to treat them with courtesy, they would leave me alone? No! The condition outside is really bad; the city is flooded and there is an unknown virus spreading in the city. No one knows what’s going on.”
“With the current situation, I am afraid that these people will do anything. Its better to deal with them from the start lest they start having thoughts that may prove fatal to us.”
Once she finished speaking, she turned to look at her two elder brothers and asked them, “Elder Brother, Second Brother, will you cooperate with me? The heavy rain has turned into a flood and we need to collect some supplies; we cannot just sit inside the house and eat.”
“I purchased a rubber boat a few months ago; we can use it to brave these waters for the time being.”
Though she had a lot of supplies, she could see that her mother and two elder brothers still had some compassion left in their hearts. Unless she brought them outside and let them see what was going to become of the world, Bai Meiyue was worried that they would not understand the severity of the situation.
Back in the apocalypse world, she was worried that Bai Cai would be affected by the doomsday virus or he would get hurt; thus, she kept him away from harm’s way and protected him fiercely, making her son rather naive and innocent.
Which was totally wrong!
She should have taken her son out and let him see the harsh and cruel reality of the world but she protected him too much, which led to him getting harmed by those bastards.
Of course, she wasn’t guilt-free either. It was because of her that her son was harmed, which was why she would never make the same mistakes again.
When Bai Zhan and Bai Jixuan heard Bai Meiyue’s suggestion, they had to admit that she was indeed correct. They were eating three meals every day but the supplies were not regenerating themselves every day, were they?
Bai Zhan nodded and agreed with Bai Meiyue’s suggestion and he said to her, “Then we should go at night; if we go now, then I am afraid that those people will attack us and try to steal the supplies that we find.”
Bai Meiyue heaved a sigh of relief when she heard her brother agree.
She really didn’t want to waste her time convincing them; if they had refused, then she would have simply knocked them out and brought the two of them with her.
Bai Zhan and Bai Zixuan, who did not know that their sister was having such ‘good’ thoughts in her mind while planning their future for their own good, shivered with fright. They knew that someone was scheming against them instinctively but they had no idea who it was!
On the other hand, Bai Meiyue started planning for their outing. Now that the entire city was in chaos, maybe she would be able to pick up something good.
For the system’s upgrade as well as for the sake of purchasing those safety pods. Currently, no matter how many times she skimmed through the Barter System, Bai Meiyue couldn’t find anything useful.
Not to mention even the level of barter had increased. If she didn’t get her hands on something good, then Bai Meiyue was worried that she would not be able to purchase those pods that she had been looking for.
It was one thing to not find them but missing the chance to purchase them was out of the question!
After all, unlike her, her family could not breathe underwater!
In case something went amiss, then the loss would overcome the gain!
She was planning to go outside and look for something that could be worth bartering for! That way, her chances of getting hold of those pods might get higher. With how the entire city was flooded, Bai Meiyue didn’t believe that anyone had the time to move their goods.

Thus, she planned on taking this trip and taking a look at all the antique as well as the gold and diamond jewellery shops. Get what she could and leave what she couldn’t!
She was lost in her thoughts and was wondering which shop to visit first when she heard the doorbell ring. Bai Meiyue frowned before turning to look at the door, wondering if the people from earlier came to bother her once again.
