Chapter 79: The End of the world is here

However, just as Bai Meiyue finished setting the pods and was about to head into one herself, the doorbell rang. She paused and her delicate eyebrows furrowed a bit. Though she hadn’t opened the door, she knew that it must be Lei Yan, that little hot pepper.

Bai Meiyue hesitated for a second, but when she thought about Lei Qian, she gritted her teeth and rushed down. Who made that man the father of her son? She had no choice but to make sure that the Lei family would be fine! What was more, that man was unconscious; if something happened to his family, Lei Qian would certainly try to settle scores with her after he awakened.

While being pregnant, Bai Meiyue couldn’t fend off that man.

“Get inside!” Bai Meiyue shouted at Lei Yan and the rest who came with her.

Her eyes fell on Lu Yu, who was supporting Lei Qian but didn’t see Lu Yin.

It was a good thing too because she did not want to bother with that woman; using such a good thing at that fake white lotus would be a shame. She might as well drown and die!

Lei Yan, who came with the Lei family to ask for Bai Meiyue’s to come with them, was stunned but seeing the worry in Bai Meiyue’s eyes, she didn’t hesitate and bolted right inside the Bai house.

They planned to leave with the Bai family but it seemed like Bai Meiyue was far more understanding of the situation!

Thus, it was better to listen to her.

“Yan’er, this—” Mother Lei began but before she could say anything more, Lei Yan looked at her and said in a hurry, “Sister Bai will not do anything to hurt us, mom. Just listen to her; it seems like she knows about this situation better than we do.”

Mother Lei parted her lips; she wanted to quibble with her daughter but realised that this was not the time. She simply chased after Bai Meiyue, who rushed to the second floor after she was done locking the door securely.

“Miss Bai, wait —” Lu Yu, who was supporting the unconscious Lei Qian with Father Lei, spoke up in a hurry. “My sister is still in the penthouse; I asked her to wait so that I could take her with me.”

Lu Yin was scared stiff after she heard the alarm and refused to leave the penthouse; she wanted to hide in the bathing room instead of running away. Lu Yu had no choice but to first handle Lei Qian and then take his sister away.

“Do you think we have so much time?” Bai Meiyue turned her head and snapped at the man. “Mister Lu, its every man for himself. You can leave Mister Lei and rush to your sister’s aide but I don’t know whether you will make it to the penthouse.”

As she spoke, she pushed open the door of the room where the pods were lying haphazardly on the floor. Because Bai Meiyue was in a hurry, she just opened a bunch of them by mistake.

Now she was glad that she opened these pods or else she would have to do so in front of the Lei family.

“Get in one of these; you will be fine,” Bai Meiyue told them as she helped Lu Yu lay Lei Qian down in the pod. As soon as the pod detected a human presence, it closed itself on its own.

Lei Yan who saw the pods, was dumbstruck and exclaimed in awe, “Wow, these look—”

“Get in! There is no time!” Bai Meiyue shouted as she pushed Lu Yu inside one of the pods and hurried into one herself.

As a supernatural being, she could hear the sound of surging water!

Seeing her hurry, Lei Yan and the rest didn’t dare to delay. They didn’t question where these things came from or how she got her hands on these pods; the first thing that they needed to care for was their life!

It was a good thing that the Lei family listened to Bai Meiyue because just as they slipped inside the pods, the entire building shook and trembled. The feeling was so terrifying that every single person in the room started to shake with fear.

Lei Yan, who took the pod that was standing, could see the entire window that was holding against the water being submerged whole! No rather than saying that the entire window was submerged whole, it was better to say that the entire city was enveloped in these frantic, ruthless, and raging waves!

She raised her hands and covered her mouth in horror. Fortunately, fortunately she did not rush out of the building with her family. If she did, then they would have been submerged in these violent waves. Once caught in these trubulent waves, would they even have a chance to get out of here?

The rest of the Lei family had the same thoughts; they looked at the rising water that made the entire building shake and closed their eyes, hoping that they would somehow survive this tragedy and this building wouldn’t collapse!

Mother Bai and Bai Zhan were not in any good condition either; when Bai Meiyue asked them to get into these pods and not step out, they already knew that something was wrong. But they never thought that the situation would be this bad!

This was the top floor! The top floor of one of the longest buildings of the city and yet it was submerged in the water as if it were just some small and puny thing.

Sure enough, when Mother Nature retaliated, there was nothing that humans could do!

Bai Meiyue looked at the water that was getting higher and higher while her expression turned sombre. Now that the tsunami was here, she knew that many creatures, including the mutant rats, would start running amok.

If she had known, then she would have ignored everything and knocked Shen Zhen and brought her here. With the tsunami hitting the shores three days earlier, even Bai Meiyue was a bit shaken up.

It seemed like this was the butterfly effect of her rebirth!
