Chapter 81: Life must go on

“Lu Yin!”

Lu Yu rushed inside the penthouse, which was a complete mess compared to Bai Meiyue, who had taken enough measures to make sure that the water wouldn’t be able to leak inside her house; the Lei family did not take such measures.

Thus, the entire house was flooded, causing the entire penthouse to turn upside down. A lot of their supplies were also ruined but the damage was not big enough for them to start worrying.

Lei Yan looked around the supply room and sighed. At least the precautions that they took at the last moment helped save a little supplies or else!

Mother Lei sank down on the stool with a distraught expression on her face.

“Ruined, everything is going to be ruined.”

In the past, Mother Lei used to heavily doubt Bai Meiyue’s words but now that she had seen the chaos that was raging in their world, she was sure that there was something very wrong! Now she felt that there was some truth in the words that Bai Meiyue told their family but as she looked at the dark apartment, she had a feeling that it was too late for them to start preparing.

Of course, there was a nagging question in her head as she wondered how much Bai Meiyue knew and how but she also knew when to reign in her curiosity. Who knows what might happen to her if she was to look for a way to answer?

After all, curiosity killed the cat.

“What are you talking about?” Father Lei looked at his wife and said, “Don’t be so pessimistic. Even if things are not going as we hoped, at least we are all alive and nothing has been lost.”

He picked up the packed generator and the gasoline tank before heading to the power room. There was a lot of work that needed to be done. Now that the main switch had been ruined, he needed to dry and deal with the rest of the connection.

Lei Yan looked at her mother, who was still looking pale and then walked to the kitchen, where she prepared a glass of cold water and then headed to the couch before handing the glass of water to her mother. “Here, drink some water. You must have had a hard time these last few days, mom.”

Mother Lei took the glass of water and drank it slowly. However, once she finished drinking, she burst into tears. “What are we going to do? The world really seems to be coming to an end. We have no water and food to last for that long.”

This was what Mother Lei was worried about; though their family had saved a little, it was nowhere enough for them to last a lifetime. With such little resources, how were they going to survive? And Lei Qian also caught that terrible virus. No matter how much they tried to wake him up, he never showed any signs of waking up.

Mother Lei felt like the entire world was crashing down on her and she couldn’t help but panic.

And this was just the start!

Those terrible things that Bai Meiyue talked about were yet to come out. If those things came out, what were they going to do then? Where were they supposed to go and how were they going to survive? These thoughts flashed in Mother Lei’s mind and she became even more worried.

Bai Meiyue said that those things would appear after the world would be enveloped in a tsunami. Now that the tsunami was here, does that not mean those zombie thingies would be making an appearance soon too?

“Mom!”

“MOM!!!”

“Ah!” Mother Lei turned to look at her daughter, who was looking at her with confusion and concern in her eyes.

“What?”

“What do you mean by what? Why are you worrying so much, mom?” questioned Lei Yan. “Whats going to come is going to come; we can only…” she gulped before adding, “Face it.”

“Think about it: how many families might have lost their family members after this disaster? At least we are alright.”

Of course she was scared but she also knew that there was no point in avoiding or worrying about the things that were inevitable. The apocalypse was here, so were they going to sit here and fret about things that they couldn’t even control?

Mother Lei pursed her lips. Though she was worried, she could only nod. Her daughter and husband were right. Since she could not stop it, she might as well try to face what was headed their way.

It was just that —

She glanced at her son, who was still unconscious and sighed.

“How long will your brother be unconscious? I am getting worried,” she remarked.

“Sister Bai said that it will depend on brother’s immunity and will power,” thinking about her elder brother even Lei Yan was worried. “She said that as long as he keeps holding on, things will surely get better.”

Mother Lei sighed once again.

She parted her lips to speak but the sound of footsteps stopped her from speaking. She raised her head and saw Lu Yin, who stepped out of the bathing room with Lu Yu. She was drenched from head to toe and looked like a bedraggled rat.

“Ah, Yin, are you alright?” Mother Lei was quite surprised when she saw Lu Yin’s condition. At the same time, she felt slightly guilty when she saw the condition of the poor girl.

They were completely fine but it seemed like Lu Yin had a hard time during this past week.

“I—I am fine, auntie.” Lu Yin shivered and looked at the family members of the Lei family and her heart slowly started to get filled with resentment. They were completely fine, which showed that they had a place to hide but they didn’t tell her and her brother. If not for them hiding their safe house, would she suffer like this?

These people, they were bullying them too much!

Lu Yin shivered and gritted her teeth in anger. She was going to make these people pay for what they have done!
