Chapter 83: A foolish man
When Bai Feng heard her words, his lips pursed into a thin line and his brows tightened habitually like they always did.
Earlier, he had planned to take the Bai family out of the prison once he had held a decent conversation with Bai Meiyue. But he then received the information from his connections that there were heavy chances of tsunami and he pulled the Bai family out of the cell without discussing with Bai Meiyue.
The reason he came looking for her was not only because he wanted to make sure that she was doing fine but also because he wanted to apologise to her for pulling the Bai family out of the cell without telling her beforehand.
However, now looking at Bai Meiyue’s face that was filled with vigilance and hatred, he knew that nothing he told her would help alleviate her pain or his guilt.
“Yueyue, there is something that I need to talk to you about. I also need to apologise to you about something,” Bai Feng told her with a frown. His long fingers tried to reach out and hold her hands but Bai Meiyue stepped back as she eyed him warily.
“There is nothing to talk about,” Bai Meiyue said to the man coldly. “And since you want to apologise, then I guess the deed is already done, then there is no point in apologising about it. If you knew that you would have to ask for an apology, then you shouldn’t have done it in the first place.”
In her last life, Bai Feng often said that she was too soft and easygoing; it was because of this that she and her son were bullied. He even asked her to change for the better but it wasn’t until she lost what was important that Bai Meiyue learnt her lesson.
Back then she was a fool but she was no longer willing to be one. If you want to apologise, then see if she was willing to listen.
In this life, unless she wanted, no one could make her do anything that she did not want to do!
She already knew that the reason Bai Feng wanted to apologise to her was because he had pulled some strings to get the Bai family out of the prison. Bai Meiyue didn’t care about these things, as she already knew that family would come out.
As long as they did not have enough supplies to live the kind of comfortable life that they lived in the past, she didn’t mind where they lived or where they stayed.
After she finished speaking, she closed the door on Bai Feng’s face without showing any hint of respect to this elder brother of hers.
If he wanted, he could be the filial guardian of that family, but there was no way she was going to understand his predicament. And nor was she going to give up on tormenting Bai Xue; this time around she would make sure that she would suffer every single pain that her poor Cai Cai went through.
Starting from starvation!
Bai Feng looked at the closed door and sighed helplessly. He loosened the button of his collar and tugged at it harshly. He knew that he had let down Bai Meiyue by releasing their family but what else was he supposed to do? Was he supposed to watch them die?
He knew that his family was in the wrong but couldn’t watch them die helplessly.
This was why he wanted to talk to Bai Meiyue and make her understand his stand. He was not targeting her nor was he treating her wounds as something that could be scraped or ignored. He just didn’t wish to see his dad die when he could save him.
As someone who grew up listening to the chants of his parents telling him that he needed to be more filial, thus, his heart felt unsettled leaving them alone.
“Yueyue, I know that you are angry but don’t worry—I will try to give you an explanation. I will ask Xue’er to give you an apology and even deal with Yuya; she is currently admitted in the hospital, which is why I cannot deal with her for the time being but once the water level goes down, I will definitely question her about drugging you.”
Something about Bai Meiyue’s sudden alienation and vigilance made him worry.
Bai Meiyue, who was listening to his words, sneered coldly. He wanted to solve this matter with an apology? Did he think that her body was too cheap? Was Bai Xue even worthy of apologising to her?
Bai Feng was still the same; even though he knew that his family was in the wrong, he was still subconsciously protecting them.
However, in Bai Meiyue’s heart, she didn’t care about what Bai Feng did or what he thought. No matter what he did, it had nothing to do with Bai Meiyue. The only reason she was annoyed was because now she would have to look for an opportunity to kill the Bai family.
In her past life, Bai Feng did not return to the country till the start of the apocalypse but it seemed like he returned after seeing the news on the internet.
Bai Meiyue clicked her tongue; now, with Bai Feng protecting the rest of the Bai family, she would not be able to kill them with ease. She hoped that by some turn of events, the Bai family would get bitten by the zombies; at least that way she would be able to kill them.
Because she could really not wait for Bai Feng to die!
As for giving up on killing the Bai family, as Bai Feng was asking her, it was impossible. How could she give up and let them survive? How would she face Little Cai Cai if those people’s heads weren’t cut off their shoulders?!
Bai Meiyue sniffed and calmed down. Once the sadness disappeared from her eyes, what remained was chilly murderous intent. Did Bai Feng say that Chen Yuya was in the hospital? Very well. Then she was going to make a little visit there.
