Chapter 86: Meeting Lu Ling again

With her appearance back to normal, Bai Meiyue didn’t stop nor did she look back. As she ran, she hunted down other zombies who were attacking others. She maximised the use of her speed and strength and chopped down the zombies with her dagger. Unlike others, she did not waste her time fighting with these zombies; she cut down their heads.

As long as their heads exploded, the rest of the being would die without any fight. Because the number of zombies at the beginning of the apocalypse was still a bit less, Bai Meiyue was done dealing with them in a matter of a few minutes.

Bai Meiyue looked down at her clothes that were covered in zombie blood and frowned in disgust. She felt nauseous when she smelt the rotten smell but somehow managed to calm herself down. She was about to turn around and leave when a man who was almost bitten by the zombie rushed out of his hiding spot and shouted,

“Bai Meiyue! You can’t leave; you need to protect me.”

Bai Meiyue paused and turned around when she heard the familiar voice. She looked at the man who stood behind her and questioned, “For what reason?”

“For the reason that I am here because of you!” Lu Ling, who was supported by Xie Yi, glared at Bai Meiyue.

He was the husband of one of the richest women of the city. As a result, he had long learnt to act domineering, not to mention it was Bai Meiyue who was the cause of his tragedy. This woman promised him an antidote and only delivered half of it; as for the rest, she did not bother with it, causing half of his life to leave his body.

Before the doomsday broke, he called Xie Yi and asked him to bring as much money and weapons as possible. Lu Ling wanted to use the last batch of this stock and buy rations from country A. But before he could, chaos erupted all around him and humans turned into weird beasts!

When he was thinking about how to escape from this mess, Bai Meiyue appeared. She also knew how to kill these things that no one could handle; the more Lu Ling thought about it, the more he looked at Bai Meiyue as if she were one of the assets that he could use.

‘If I can make this woman follow me, then I will have nothing to worry about,’ Lu Ling thought as greed flashed in his eyes. If Bai Meiyue followed him, then not only could he make her protect him but also make her serve a few people in exchange for supplies. With that beautiful face, it would be a shame if this woman was used in the right manner.

Lu Ling lifted his chin and talked down to Bai Meiyue as if he were an emperor. He said to her, “I am telling you, Bai Meiyue. You have harmed me really badly; you have to help me. Not only do you have to follow me but you also need to take care of me and even make up for the losses that I have suffered.”

He was still yet to understand that Bai Meiyue was no longer that pathetic woman who would not dare to say east if others were to say west. As for the things that she did before, he thought that it was due to the fact that Bai Meiyue was provoked by Chen Yuya and Bai Xue.

He never took this soft persimmon seriously. In Lu Ling’s eyes, she was still the same woman who could be pinched and bullied as he liked.

Killing intent flooded in Bai Meiyue’s eyes when she heard Lu Ling’s words. A dense and baleful aura erupted from her body. It was the death aura that she had faced and formed in the past life. What Bai Meiyue hated was nothing more than people looking at her as if she were some pathetic and weak damsel that they could use as they wanted.

Because it reminded her of how her son was taken away from her.

Lu Ling was stunned when he saw Bai Meiyue stare at him with those murderous eyes. He did not expect that this woman, who had never raised her head, would one day look at him as if she wanted to drink his blood and cut his tendons. He realised that he might have kicked an iron plate.

As Bai Meiyue stepped towards him, Lu Ling asked Xie Yi to pull him away from the crazy woman. He looked at Bai Meiyue and quaked while screaming, “You can’t kill me! You can’t kill me! My wife is Gu Zejun! She will not leave you alone if you were to kill me. She loves me too much!”

“Ah, will she?” Bai Meiyue curled her lips coldly. She then raised the dagger in her hand and sneered, “Will she really help you when she finds out what kind of person you are and the things that you have done behind her back?”

Lu Ling’s face turned pale when he realised that Bai Meiyue was not joking. He wanted to run away but before he could, Bai Meiyue stepped forward and clutched him around his throat. She sneered and said, “I was giving you face when I let you live the last time. But it seems like you do not love your life that much. Do you think that I was joking when I gave you that poison?”

Faced with Bai Meiyue’s threats, he turned to look at Xie Yi and said to him, “S—Save me.”

How dare Xie Yi save this man who provoked this Goddess of Death? Even if he was a lowly thug and never went to school, he knew when to act servile and when to act tough. Yet Lu Ling, this fool! He actually said such words to this woman instead of pleading with her.

“You are afraid now? Were you not really brave when you bullied me when I was working in your company? You even joined hands with my father to send me to the bed of that investor. I am just eighteen years old. Eighteen! I haven’t even seen the world and yet you did such a doglike thing to me.”

Lu Ling’s voice trembled as he begged for her forgiveness humbly.

Bai Meiyue sneered, “If I don’t teach you a profound lesson. Won’t you come to bother me again in the future?”

Recalling the harsh days she had to live under this man, Bai Meiyue felt a sense of frustration and anger in her heart. Like a flood that broke through a dam, her rage could no longer be controlled and she hurled the man in the direction of the corridor where the zombies were coming from.
