Chapter 121: Yet Another Strange Vampire
Cortana had no intention of engaging with William. He dodged the incoming ice spikes, knowing that conserving any bit of strength was crucial at this point.
Seeing Cortana’s relentless attitude, William couldn’t help feeling helpless.
“Hey, buddy, I’m just here to watch the show. No need to be so ruthless, right?”
But running away wasn’t William’s style either. With plenty of life-saving cards up his sleeve, he was inclined to try a bout of combat.
After all, Cortana’s aura of evil was quite prominent in William’s eyes.
On the contrary, while the other vampire’s scent of blood was strong, it didn’t give William much of an evil vibe.
William wasn’t the type to harbor a deep-seated hatred for evil, but he could still intervene when the opportunity arose.
Besides, the other vampire would arrive soon enough.
With Angela still lying on his shoulder, William wielded his staff.
Fourth Circle Spell, Binding Web!
A giant web emitting a silver-white glow appeared in mid-air, heading towards Cortana.
William’s objective was simple: to detain Cortana in place.
Cortana watched the giant web flying towards him, his face darkening to the extreme.
In his eyes, a mere Silver-tier mage dared to resist; it was Courting death. {A/N: Satisfaction at its peak by saying this}
With a wave of his remaining arm, a sharp blood-colored blade directly cut through the Binding Web William had cast, continuing its momentum towards William.
After shattering several shield spells in front of William, the blood blade dissipated in the air.
William was somewhat astonished. Indeed, Cortana was a Gold-tier expert; defending against his attacks required his full effort.
Without hesitation, William consecutively used spells to hinder Cortana’s advance.
Fourth Circle Spell, Rockfall!
Fourth Circle Spell, Ice Storm!
Although the combination of these two spells didn’t have much power, their restriction effects on the enemy’s movements were outstanding.
Continuously dodging the magical rockfalls and feeling his speed slowing down amidst the flurry of snowflakes and winds, Cortana was getting impatient.
Marion had already recovered from the self-destruction of his body and was quickly rushing towards William’s direction. There was simply no time to engage with this human mage.
With determination, Cortana gathered the remaining blood light around him, and a huge crimson claw appeared in front of him.
Blood Magic, Sacrificial Blood Flame Claw!
This was Cortana’s desperate move. After conjuring this blood claw, the blood-colored aura around Cortana became almost invisible.
Seeing this blood claw, William knew that it was not something he could withstand at the moment, and even Angela would find it difficult to block.
After all, it was a desperate blow from a Gold-tier expert.
Without any hesitation, William infused magic into the Stephen’s Teleportation Ring he wore, activating its Seventh Circle Spell, Dimensional Shield.

An invisible spatial barrier appeared around William’s body, as if he were in another space altogether.
When Cortana saw his blood claw, which had consumed most of his strength, shatter into nothingness in front of the mage without any disturbance, his body froze in place as he prepared to charge forward.
What’s going on? I…
Just as Cortana was still trying to figure out the situation, a hand thrust out from his chest, grabbing onto Cortana’s still-beating heart.
“Heh, how boring.”
With a smile, Marion withdrew his hand from Cortana’s chest. Cortana’s body fell from the sky like a torn sack, turning into a pile of black ashes before even hitting the ground.
With Cortana’s heart in his hand, Marion’s smile grew even wider.
“Oh, didn’t expect to come across such a nice prey while out for a stroll. Lucky me.”
This guy is nuts!
In his mind, William concluded that Marion was mentally unstable, feeling somewhat wary.
From the conversation just now and the information from Mora, this guy had clearly been hunting down the Gold-tier vampire all along. Yet now, he’s talking about being lucky.
Looking at the Gold-tier vampire’s heart in his hand, still emanating a rich and pure blood aura, Marion pondered whether to keep it as a gift for the Godchild.
But then he shook his head.
This vampire’s heart was just average, and due to the injuries sustained, the blood energy within it was continuously depleting. It probably wouldn’t last until he found the Prophet.
“Don’t waste it!”
Marion smiled as he swallowed the crimson heart in his hand, one mouthful at a time. A hint of blush appeared on his pale face.
William looked on expressionlessly at the gruesome scene before him, his heart unmoved.
Come on, compared to the disgusting scenes he had witnessed in his past life, this was nothing.
Once Marion finished consuming the heart in his hand, he descended from the sky.
Standing before William, Marion placed his right hand over his chest and performed an elegant and refined noble gesture, saying:
“Thank you very much for your help. I am Marion Corrin. May I know your name, sir?”
Marion was very polite, graceful, and completely different from his demeanor just moments ago.
Marion was well aware that the young Silver-tier mage before him was not simple. He sensed a legendary aura emanating from the mage, akin to Prince Damon’s, or even stronger!
Although sometimes eccentric, Marion knew very well whom to engage with and whom to avoid.
“Hello, I am William Kane. It was just a small favor,” replied William with a nod, maintaining his respect for the Gold-tier expert, though he couldn’t help but wonder.
Another strange vampire had appeared.
“I wonder what you were just doing,” William said as he looked at Cortana’s ashes with a smile.
“Just disposing of some scum who betrayed our Lord Ancestor. Nothing major,” Marion replied casually.
With that, Marion’s gaze flicked towards Angela, who was perched on William’s shoulder, squinting his eyes.
A white bat. Is it a magical beast?
Marion didn’t sense anything special from Angela nor did he detect any scent similar to that of the traitors.
Shaking his head, Marion dismissed Angela from his thoughts.
He was busy. He had been in Canlight City for several days already, yet there was still no trace of the Godchild.
With a slight bow, Marion said to William, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave now.”
“The kingdom and the Church’s people will arrive soon, and I’d rather not meet them. So, I’ll leave first.”
“Hopefully, we’ll meet again, Mr. William.”
With that, Marion’s figure disappeared from the spot, leaving behind the destroyed streets, confirming that a fierce battle had just taken place.
Seeing several civilians lying on the ground groaning in pain, William didn’t approach to heal them. Instead, he walked into a nearby alley and left the scene.
The city guards would arrive soon, and these people would receive treatment.
It was better to leave first and avoid trouble!
