Chapter 132: Voragath
In a basement in the Lower District.
In the center of the room stood a long stone table, around which several individuals in dark robes, emanating a deep aura, sat. The atmosphere was heavy with tension.
“What’s going on exactly?”
An angry voice reverberated through the dimly lit room. The muscular right arm protruding from the black robe violently smashed the stone table in front, sending shards flying.
The others seated around the table paid no heed. One of the slender figures in a black robe shook his head and said, “Calm down, Peter. Your anger won’t change anything; the deed is done.”
“How can I possibly calm down, Kaez? This concerns our Lord’s plans,” Peter, the burly man, said to the slender figure, his voice filled with restrained fury.
“It’s useless to be in a hurry now. The most crucial thing is to find out where Cortana is. Instead of wasting energy, why don’t you use your brains to think?” Kaez said calmly, completely unfazed by Peter’s tone.
Upon hearing this, Peter reluctantly calmed down.
Fighting wasn’t a problem for him, but coming up with ideas was truly challenging.
“What’s the situation now?” Kaez, seeing Peter finally quiet, asked the others.
“I’ve been to the Golden Lily Lane. Cortana seems to be relatively cautious; the secret chamber hasn’t been discovered by the kingdom or the church. Everything we’ve prepared is still intact,” the black-robed figure sitting on the other side said, and upon hearing this, everyone relaxed slightly.
Cortana’s whereabouts weren’t their primary concern. What mattered most was the secret chamber guarded by Cortana. It was the key to all their subsequent plans and mustn’t be discovered by the kingdom or the church.
They were quite alarmed when they received news of the vampire conflict at Golden Lily Lane.
According to their plan’s current stage, everyone should be lurking in the shadows and not actively causing trouble.
Even Peter, the most irritable and lawless among them, behaved this way.
After entering Canlight City, he obediently followed the arrangements and stayed in the secret chamber. After all, this time was crucial for the church’s plans and also the will of God.
As a hidden Golden-tier vampire in Canlight City, some of the arrangements of their plan were hidden in Cortana’s territory, and they didn’t expect such an accident to happen.
After the incident, the kingdom and the church had been searching Golden Lily Lane, and they didn’t have a chance to check the situation in the secret chamber. Finally, there was some good news.
Even though Cortana was their colleague, a Golden-tier powerhouse, the items stored in that secret chamber weren’t considered important in the eyes of everyone.
Kaez looked at the other two figures in black robes and asked, “Anielo, Tash, are your secret chambers okay?”
Upon hearing the affirmative answers from the two, Kaez nodded, and the gloom in his heart finally dispersed a little.
Seeing the two shake their heads, Kaez, who was controlling the church’s plan this time, finally relaxed. It seemed that the plan hadn’t gone wrong.
Now the problem was finding Cortana and figuring out exactly what had happened.
For some reason, the kingdom and the church had intensified their patrols in the Lower District recently, and clandestine investigations had increased, leaving them somewhat at a loss.
This plan had consumed almost all of the church’s accumulations over the past few years, so there couldn’t be any mistakes.
“As for Cortana, he’s dead now,” the black-robed figure sitting above said flatly, causing everyone to freeze.
“Lord Dalton, Cortana is dead? But he had the strength of a Golden-tier!” Peter couldn’t believe it. Although he had always despised Cortana for being a cunning fellow, his strength was not much weaker than his own.
Therefore, even though the person saying this was a church envoy, Peter couldn’t help but ask.
“He no longer bears the Soulfire I bestowed upon him.”

The envoy’s words left no room for doubt among the others.
When the Soulfire extinguished, it meant death was absolute.
“Envoy, what should we do next? Should we investigate who killed Cortana, or should we proceed with the previous plan?” Kaez asked respectfully. The decision-making for the plan rested with this envoy, whose strength was enough to convince everyone.
“We don’t need to concern ourselves with Cortana anymore. For now, refrain from any actions beyond the plan. Wait until all preparations are complete before deciding.”
“Additionally, prepare yourselves. We may have to initiate the final arrangement sooner than expected.”
“Lord Dalton, is that necessary? We still have plenty of time,” Kaez said, somewhat surprised. Such actions might not achieve the desired outcome in the end.
The envoy remained silent for a moment before saying, “Apollo Stephens, the Flame of Judgment, has returned to Canlight City ahead of schedule. He’s not like Morris from the Dawn Church.”
The envoy’s revelation silenced the room, dispelling any doubts about the envoy’s decision.
The words “Flame of Judgment” weighed heavily on their hearts, for even in their madness, they dared not act against a legend.
If he decided to intervene, their secret chambers would be no match for him.
“Don’t worry too much. As long as we stick to the plan, our Lord’s arrangements can withstand those legends.”
The envoy seemed to sense their apprehension and spoke with unwavering confidence in the divine intervention.
Everyone nodded. That trump card was the cornerstone of their plan to cause chaos in Canlight City.
“Anielo, Tash, continue to watch over your respective secret chambers. We cannot afford any more mishaps.”
“Peter, you will remain in Cortana’s secret chamber for the time being. No excursions.”
“At the request of Lord Dalton, everyone must be prepared. If any unforeseen circumstances arise, signal immediately and activate the ritual circle!”
A hint of madness flickered in Kaez’s calm gaze as he stared at the others and said, “Tell the believers not to fear. Death is not our end; we shall be reborn in the kingdom of our Lord!”
Everyone nodded in agreement. At this stage, they were beyond fear or retreat.
Or perhaps, chaos and excitement were what they sought.
The envoy rose from his seat once more and reiterated, “That’s all. Be careful when you return. I don’t want to see anyone meet the same fate as Cortana.”
The others also stood up but didn’t leave immediately.
Gathered around the stone table, the flickering candlelight failed to dispel the darkness that enveloped them.
With devout yet slightly frenzied tones, they recited:
“Our Lord, Voragath!”
“You are the master of all beasts!”
“You are the embodiment of fear and wildness!”
“Our Lord, Voragath!”
“You are the hunter in the wilderness!”
“You are the protector of druids!”
“Our Lord, Voragath!”
“Your loyal followers pray to you!”
“Your name will echo throughout the world, mortal fears will turn into your power, and their dread will make you stronger!”
“We beseech you to cast your gaze upon us and protect us on our journey!”
