Chapter 81: The Genius Girl in the Library
“You are?”
Huh? This voice sounds somewhat familiar.
William looked towards the direction of the voice and saw a figure in a black mage robe emerge from behind the bookshelf.
The petite figure was tightly wrapped in the mage robe, with even the hood pulled over her head.
Apart from knowing it was a girl from the voice, William couldn’t discern anything else.
However, William didn’t expect the butler of the mansion’s library to be a mage. How come he had no impression of her?
“I’m William. Where did Joyce put the magic books that were sent here yesterday?”
William asked casually, glancing at the butler.
The person bowed respectfully and said, “The magic books brought by Butler Joyce are not placed on these shelves. Please follow me, Master William.”
With that, the person led William to the other side of the bookshelf.
William noticed that there was already a magic book laid open on the nearby table. It seemed that the butler had been reading magic books before he arrived.
“What’s your name, and how long have you been the librarian of this library?”
“I am called Lisa, Master William.”
“When I was eight years old, the old master brought me, a wandering orphan, here. It’s been fifteen years since then.”
“Since Butler Joyce appointed me, I’ve been responsible for managing the library.”
Fifteen years?
William felt something was off. It didn’t make sense for him to have no impression after spending fifteen years in the mansion.
Although there were a few instances in his previous memories when he came to the library, there was no trace of a girl named Lisa.
It felt very discordant.
“Lisa, are you a mage?”
William continued to inquire.
“Yes, Master William.”
“Master Brandan saw my talent and sent me to the Magic Academy for a period of study. Since then, I’ve been studying in the library by myself.”
William asked further, “Lisa, what rank of mage are you now?”
The girl named Lisa answered honestly, “I’ve been at the Silver rank for about six or seven years now.”
Hiss~
Without specialized tutoring, she broke through to the Silver rank around the age of sixteen, just by self-study. It was terrifying.
After so many years, with her talent, wasn’t she already close to the Gold rank?
With such talent, she shouldn’t have been an unknown figure in the game world in his previous life.

“Can you put down your hood?”
William made a somewhat impolite request, but he couldn’t care less about manners at the moment.
The girl’s body trembled slightly, but she didn’t refuse. Slowly, she pulled down her hood.
What came into William’s sight was an extremely beautiful face: delicate nose, slightly blushing cheeks, cherry-like lips, and a flawless melon seed face, with a hint of timidity in her eyes.
But what caught William’s attention even more was Lisa’s long hair, as white as jade, and her blood-red eyes.
Stunningly beautiful, it made even the knowledgeable William reluctant to look away.
To be honest, compared to Angela, the foodie, Lisa looked more like a vampire princess from a bygone era.
Seeing William somewhat stunned, Lisa hurriedly pulled up her hood again, her petite body trembling slightly, with a hint of disappointment in her demeanor.
When she was young, Lisa was ostracized by her peers because of her unusual white hair and red eyes. They called her a monster, a demon.
This left a shadow in her heart, so after coming to the Cain family, she preferred to stay in the library, wrapped up tightly, avoiding contact with others.
Fortunately, there was still the old butler taking care of her, ensuring that she lacked nothing in terms of food, clothing, shelter, and resources for cultivation.
Lisa also enjoyed this kind of life. The library was her little world, where she could study and research her favorite magic without having to interact with others.
However, for some reason, when Butler Joyce came yesterday and brought some magic books, he told her not to hide anymore when Master William came.
Although she didn’t know why, Lisa was willing to follow Butler Joyce’s arrangement.
It seemed that I messed up. I must have scared Master William.
Feeling somewhat disheartened, Lisa thought she couldn’t even do such a simple thing properly and felt useless.
William finally came to his senses and blinked.
Without mincing words, Lisa’s appearance completely hit William’s sweet spot.
Who could resist the temptation of a beautiful girl with white hair and red eyes!
“Why cover your face? You look so beautiful!”
“Hmm?”
Lisa suddenly raised her head and met William’s sincere gaze.
Feeling a bit unresponsive at first, a blush quickly spread across Lisa’s cheeks.
Thump thump thump~
Lisa couldn’t handle William’s gaze, so she quickly took a few steps back and hid behind the nearby bookshelf.
William couldn’t help but chuckle at Lisa’s little reaction. Fortunately, he had already found the magic books that Joyce mentioned.
However, William also confirmed that he had indeed never encountered Lisa, the character in the plot, in his previous life.
Otherwise, with her elegance, she could easily have competed for the top NPC spot most favored by players.
But, what if there were other possibilities?
William thought about it. Female mage NPCs who were powerful and of the right age in his previous life… forget it!
Shaking his head, William pushed this matter aside for now. It wasn’t urgent.
William began searching through the magic books brought by Joyce.
The content of these books was obviously much more advanced than what William had seen before.
“Discussion on the Balance Between Stability and Explosiveness of Fire Elemental Particles in Spell Models”
“Advanced Elemental Theory – Research on the Relationship between Elemental Generation and Suppression”
“Comprehensive Guide to Necromancy Spells”
“Research on Engraving Space and Magic Control in Magic Rune Inscriptions”
William selected several magic books related to runes and decided to take the book on necromancy as well.
The rest could wait. He would come back for them after reading the ones in his hand.
While William was selecting magic books, Lisa peeked out from behind the bookshelf, watching William as he packed the books into his storage ring one by one.
“Lisa, I’m leaving now. We’ll exchange spell insights next time.”
After packing away the selected magic books, William clapped his hands and greeted Lisa.
“Mm.”
A soft voice came from behind, but William didn’t mind. He closed the door as he left.
Once Lisa was sure that William had left, Lisa breathed a sigh of relief.
The library returned to being Lisa’s world alone, which made her feel somewhat reassured.
She wasn’t experiencing some sort of teenage infatuation just now; she was simply caught off guard by William’s reaction.
“Master William is really strange!”
Walking towards the underground laboratory, William scratched his head while squeezing Angela in his hand.
He originally thought that Joyce was just an ordinary person who didn’t understand extraordinary powers, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case.
Today, he clearly guided William to meet Lisa.
For what reason?
William was puzzled.
Moreover, to think that there was a genius mage like Lisa hidden in his own home!
It was simply unbelievable. Having a Gold-ranked Vampire was already surprising enough, and now there was the incredibly talented Lisa.
It seemed that the Cain family wasn’t as simple as William had initially thought!
The waters ran deep!
However, William wasn’t worried.
After all, whether it was his innate intuition or the memories from his previous life, he believed that Joyce wouldn’t harm him.
