Chapter 1055: Regret
Atticus’s words came like a divine being sentencing his subjects to death. There was no emotion in his voice. No anger. No happiness. Simply, cold, blunt words.
“Carius Valarius. Drakthanion Ignisyth. Both of you stand guilty of treason against the Alliance. You colluded with the Obsidian Order… You brought a Zorvan colonel into the academy military camp… And in doing so, you ended millions of lives, destroyed countless futures, and crippled the very hope this alliance was built upon.”
His words spread across the quiet world. Every recruit, every sergeant, every paragon watched silently.
His words chilled the air. Froze the spines of everyone who listened. And there were different levels of shock.
Atticus’s aura spread, intensifying the weight on everyone.
“I am General Atticus Ravenstein.”
The killing intent spiked, washing over Carius and Drakthanion. And surprisingly, they suddenly felt the hold on their bodies free.
But Atticus’s words didn’t stop. The next ones made the hearts of many freeze.
“…And I sentence you both… to death.”
Finally, Atticus’s eyes turned towards Carius and Drakthanion.
The latter gazed at Atticus with a face filled with regrets. He knew that he would never have forgiven himself for doing that to someone who had saved his life.
It was a cowardly thing to do.
Drakthanion knew that well.
But he hadn’t done it for himself. If there had been any other way, he wouldn’t have chosen this path.
And now, he was simply facing the consequences.
But…
‘He should know the reason.’
Drakthanion clenched his fists. He wasn’t seeking mercy, no. He just wanted to say it…
A final word of gratitude, for the one who had once saved him. And that perhaps Atticus, of all people, who cared about his family and would do anything to protect them, would understand him. Would understand why he did this.
His gaze slowly lifted, locking onto Atticus’s cold, emotionless eyes.
He tried to steady himself, to stop the trembling creeping into his limbs at locking eyes with this force of nature.
“I… I did it for my family…” Drakthanion choked.
But Atticus didn’t even blink.
“I don’t care.”
A wave of black-crimson energy surged from Atticus’s arm, spiraling like a vortex before engulfing Drakthanion.
Then, the erasure began.
Drakthanion gritted his teeth, biting down hard on his tongue to keep the scream from escaping.
He could feel his flesh unraveling, his bones dissolving, his very essence being stripped away bit by bit.
It was unlike the other paragons that had been erased instantly. It was as though Atticus had reduced the effects of the fusion energy to make his death slow, painful.
His fists clenched tighter, nails piercing his palms as he fought to endure the pain without a sound. He didn’t want to make any sound.

As the end came closer, his thoughts drifted. But they weren’t to his actions, not to his guilt, but to the faces of those he loved.
His wife.
His children.
Their laughter. Their warmth. Their quiet, happy moments together.
“I’m sorry…”
The final whisper barely left his lips before his body vanished into nothingness.
Gone.
Silence ensued. One that felt loud. The Dragon race recruits, sergeants, and paragons alike felt like volcanoes teetering on the edge of eruption.
They gritted their teeth, clenched their fists as they watched not only their leader but also their apex get turned into nothingness.
But none of them moved. They couldn’t even if they wanted to. Atticus hadn’t just spoken words, he had backed up everything with action.
The dead paragons were a testament to that.
Then, Atticus’s eyes turned to Carius. Eletantron and many of the remaining Dimensari’s expressions turned to dread.
Would he do the same to him too?
But surprisingly, Carius gazed at Atticus calmly.
No tremble. No hesitation. No regret.
His chin lifted slightly, eyes narrowing at Atticus.
“Your eyes are ugly.”
Multiple gasps rippled across the battlefield.
“Don’t mistake this for superiority. You are not my better. I’m simply granting you the privilege of ending my life.”
There wasn’t a shred of fear in his voice.
Not an ounce of hesitation. Just pure, unshaken pride.
His words sounded across the quiet land, making several paragons’ eyes bulge in disbelief.
What the hell was he doing?
He was basically taunting the one who held his life in his hands!
All eyes turned to Atticus, wondering how he would react.
But his expression didn’t even shift.
Unchanged. Emotionless.
Suddenly, his grip loosened.
Carius’s body grew heavier in an instant.
His eyes widened just as he was hurled downward, crashing into the earth with a thunderous impact that shattered stone and sent a thick cloud of smoke and debris flying outward.
As the dust cleared, Carius’s eyes snapped open, only to see Atticus standing just a few meters away, unmoving, silent.
‘What’s he doing?’
Carius slowly stood, mind racing.
Atticus remained still. He had sheathed his katana, hands at his side, gaze locked onto him.
‘I… I can’t use my abilities.’
No matter how much he tried, he couldn’t use his dimensional powers. The mana in the air refused to respond to him.
‘My weapon… it’s gone.’
His gaze turned upward, toward the cocoon still hovering in the sky.
His weapon, his space artifacts, everything was trapped inside.
His fists clenched, and he turned to Atticus.
“What is the meaning of this?”
But there was no reply.
Atticus simply began to walk. His katana remained untouched, still resting at his hip.
‘Is he trying to fight me with his bare hands?’
Carius lowered his stance slightly, eyes narrowing.
He knew he couldn’t escape. He was a pragmatic man and he had accepted reality. So, he waited to see what Atticus would do. And so did everyone watching.
Still, Atticus said nothing. He simply advanced… then vanished.
Carius’s eyes widened, barely reacting before
CRACK!
A palm slammed across his left cheek, the impact detonating like a shockwave.
His head snapped sideways, the force lifting his body off the ground, sending him hurtling across the field, crashing into rock and dirt.
Debris exploded outward from his landing point.
He lay still for a moment, his lip bloodied, his face numb from the impact. His eyes, his eyes were wide open.
He turned sharply towards Atticus as he realized his intention.
‘He wants to humiliate me.’
