Chapter 1077: Idea
The phrase clicked. An idea had just sprung up in his head, one he had no idea would work.
But at this point, Atticus was ready to try anything.
With a single thought, the tears streaking down his face evaporated into the air.
He turned toward Avalon again.
“Dad.”
At his call, he saw the thin wisp of smoke rising from Avalon’s face. He too had evaporated his tears.
Slowly, Avalon turned to look at him.
“I’m sorry,” Atticus said calmly. “But I can’t let you keep torturing yourself like this.”
Avalon opened his mouth to speak, “Att—”
But Atticus raised a hand, cutting him off.
“But you don’t have to give up on gaining power.”
He stepped forward, closing the distance between them. A small smile appeared across his face.
“In fact,” he said with an excited gaze,
“I might have a better way than this… torture.”
Avalon frowned, and his eyes narrowed slightly, not understanding what his son was getting at.
But Atticus’s grin only grew wider.
…
Seconds passed.
Avalon now sat cross-legged in the center of the training room, his back straight, his expression composed. And Atticus stood behind him.
The lava landscape had disappeared, replaced by the room’s original state, pristine white, untouched, almost serene ground and walls.
Atticus had convinced Avalon to try his idea. What helped his case was the very real reminder that if Avalon didn’t comply, Atticus would tell Anastasia everything about his self-destructive training.
Avalon had grimaced, but ultimately, he agreed.
And truth be told, even without the threat, Avalon was ready to try anything.
He wanted power, needed it, and Atticus had proven himself more than once.
There was no reason to doubt him.
“All right,” Atticus said from behind. “I want you to relax yourself.”
He placed a hand just slightly above Avalon’s back, not touching, but close enough to feel the warmth.
“For what I’m about to do to work, you have to be completely focused. Completely relaxed.”
Avalon gave a single nod and closed his eyes, steadying his breath.
Atticus continued.

“Let me explain how I was able to advance my elements first.”
“I’m sure you know, each element resonates with different emotions.”
“What does fire resonate with?”
Avalon’s mouth almost twitched.
The fact that his teenage son was lecturing him like some first-year student left him feeling… awkward.
Still, he answered without complaining. “Anger.”
“Exactly,” Atticus said. “Anger.”
He paused for a moment, watching his father’s steady breathing.
“To become a Paragon, you have to become the element’s molecules. Not control them. Not command them. Become them.”
He knew Avalon already understood all this. But he was laying the foundation anyway.
He wanted to center Avalon’s mind and make sure everything was fresh, sharp, and aligned for what they were about to do.
Seeing Avalon nod, Atticus said softly,
“All right. We’ll be starting now.”
“All you have to do is try to become them. Don’t force anything. Just try your best, like you’ve always been doing.”
Avalon exhaled slowly. “Okay.”
In the next moment, Atticus’s eyes sharpened, focus snapping into place. With a single thought, the temperature in the entire hall soared until it reached staggering levels.
But despite the intensity, the heat didn’t burn Avalon’s skin.
In fact… it felt soothing.
There was only one way to describe it: it was just right.
The most optimum temperature for him.
It was a level of precision that not even the state-of-the-art training room features could replicate.
As Avalon felt it, instinctively and immediately, he started focusing.
He turned his attention inward, trying to resonate with the fire molecules around him. And as he did, a soft orange glow began to form around him.
But Atticus wasn’t idle. He was working too.
The idea he’d come up with had been simple, at least in theory. But in practice, it was something else entirely.
It demanded things most couldn’t even dream of having.
In fact… not a single person in Eldoralth, not even the paragons, should be able to pull it off. It was because it was him.
The reason most people took decades to cross into the Paragon rank was simple:
They needed an extraordinary amount of time to fully resonate with the elemental molecules in the air.
To truly become them.
But Atticus, he had come up with a way to fasten that process.
He held absolute control over the fire element.
He’d done it before. He understood how it worked, its rhythm, its nature.
Also, his Will stat was so high it allowed him to impose his will onto the world. Magnus had only taught him how to do that through emotions. And right now, that was exactly what he needed.
Avalon tried.
He tried to resonate with the fire molecules using his burning anger. But no matter how hard he pushed, he had never quite found the right intensity.
And this, this was where Atticus came in.
Maintaining the perfect temperature, holding it in that narrow, optimal threshold, Atticus let his Will bleed into the world.
Into the mana.
Into the elemental molecules.
And then, he adjusted their emotional resonance.
He tuned the fire’s anger, bit by bit, until it mirrored Avalon’s.
Perfectly.
In that moment, Avalon felt something snap into place.
A connection. One he had never achieved before!
An intense shock surged through his body, so potent it felt like his entire soul was catching fire.
‘What the hell is he doing?!’ the thought crashed through his mind, but Avalon didn’t care.
He didn’t care one damn bit.
Because this was it. This was the connection he’d spent years chasing.
The feeling he thought he’d never reach.
But just as suddenly, it started to slip. The connection began to fade.
No matter how fast he reached, how desperately he chased, he couldn’t catch it.
Until, it disappeared.
Avalon’s eyes snapped open.
He turned quickly, and his gaze landed on Atticus, grinning wide.
Avalon stared at him, his throat dry. Then, with his voice filled with happiness, he said:
“I love you so much, son.”
