Chapter 1081: Truth
The screens went dark, leaving only the faint glow of the Aegis Shield reflecting in countless stunned eyes.
And then, his voice came, calm.
“Who would you believe?”
The question echoed, not just in that sector, not just among the gathered paragons, but across the entire human domain. Atticus’s voice reached every ear.
The people had already fallen silent while watching the events unfold. But as his words settled, it was as if the world forgot how to make a sound.
The humans began to replay everything they had just witnessed. Especially the paragons, those who were closest to Atticus. Their expressions had changed, but not because of Carius or Drakthanion’s actions, but because of something far more unimaginable.
They had seen it.
They had seen Atticus battle a Zorvan colonel.
Two weeks ago, he had said it plainly. That he’d fought and killed one of them. A colonel.
Many had believed him, but it was not because the feat was believable, but because of the person who had said it.
Their Apex.
But hearing it was one thing. Seeing it… that was something else entirely.
They had watched every second of it, from start to finish.
And now, only one thought echoed in every mind:
He had actually done it.
He had killed a Zorvan colonel.
The paragons, who hadn’t been there to witness the battle in person, had only heard the reports.
And not all of them had even seen his battle with Eletantron and the others. But now, after seeing the truth for themselves, they instinctively took a step back from him.
They didn’t speak. Only stared at Atticus with shocked expressions.
Because now, they understood.
They understood the force that Atticus Ravenstein truly was.
And as they realized it, a wave of shame crashed over the citizens of the human domain.
Their hands clenched at their sides. Their hearts sank.
They had doubted him. Almost turned on him.
Because of the words of an outsider. Because of fear.
They could hear it now, just beneath his question.
The intense disappointment in his voice. As if he already knew they would turn. As if he had expected it.
And yet, to think he still bothered to show them the truth…
But that wasn’t the only shift.
No, earlier they had questioned him because they believed the combined might of two superior and one mid-race leaders meant something. That surely, against such odds, even their Apex couldn’t win.

But after watching that footage, after witnessing what he did,
That assumption shattered. Utterly and completely.
The silence lasted for many moments, until slowly, a man in the crowd raised his hand.
He didn’t speak. He didn’t shout. But he simply lifted his hand high, toward Atticus.
Another followed. Then another. And another.
From cities and towns across the human domain, hands began to rise.
“Atticus!”
A voice cried out.
“Atticus!” came another.
And then the chant spread like wildfire.
“ATTICUS! ATTICUS! ATTICUS!”
The voices boomed across every sector. From the young to the old, from soldiers to civilians.
They had made their choice. There was no more doubt.
They chose their Apex.
High above the Aegis Shield, Eletantron’s face darkened.
A deep frown appeared on his face as his eyes narrowed.
His voice came sharp and venomous.
“You’ve made your choice.”
His eyes turned cold.
“Fire.”
At his command, the warships behind him responded immediately.
Nozzles extended from their armored hulls and locked into place as power surged within them. Their mouths glowed with scarlet light, pulsing like the core of an unstable star.
Then the sky erupted. They fired.
Beams of energy tore through the clouds and slammed against the Aegis Shield in a cascade of burning force.
Crimson waves scattered across the surface of the shield, bathing the world below in an eerie red light.
It was like blood had been spilled across the sky.
The people flinched.
Many screamed, staggering back, their hands instinctively shielding their faces.
Mothers pulled children close. Veterans braced for impact.
But… nothing happened.
There was no tremor. No shockwave. No destruction.
The shield didn’t even flicker.
And slowly, the red light faded.
The humans opened their eyes and looked up.
Nothing had reached them. Not a single beam.
But their hearts still pounded violently in their chests. Some were still trembling, their legs weak beneath them.
It was as though they had been at death’s door.
And high above, they saw him, Eletantron, staring down at them with cold, emotionless eyes.
He said nothing. He didn’t need to. That one shot had done enough.
The message was clear:
Even with your shield, I can make you feel powerless.
The human domain had been shaken.
By a single attack. An attack that they knew couldn’t even reach them.
Then, finally, Eletantron spoke, cold.
“You have less than one day.”
With that, he turned away.
Along with Jezenet and the Dragons, they each boarded their warships.
The ships hovered for a few more seconds before they slowly drifted back, disappearing into the clouds…
But despite their retreat, every soul below still felt their presence.
They knew… they were still there. Watching. Waiting.
The Aegis Shield was temporary, one that would soon vanish.
And when it did… there would be nothing left between humanity and them.
“Good thinking, Apex Atticus,” Thorne suddenly spoke.
Atticus simply nodded to his words.
The paragons exchanged glances between themselves. They might have handled the matter differently, but in the end, they all came to the same conclusion:
Atticus Ravenstein was the only path forward.
Though the mana contract they had signed already bound them to him, to them, it wasn’t just obligation anymore.
Now they made their choice.
They had seen it with their own eyes, his quick thinking prevented chaos in the human domain by simply showing the people the truth… and more importantly, his strength.
A teenager who had killed a Zorvan colonel.
He was their only chance to rid themselves of the Zorvan threat.
A few paragons gave small nods of agreement to Thorne’s words. Then Oberon suddenly added,
“What should we do if they riot regardless?”
