Chapter 1082: Worst Case
The paragons’ brows furrowed.
The question was valid. Despite everything, there would always be a few people, driven by either fear, anger, or ignorance, who might act recklessly.
But to the other paragons, its solution was simple. If riots occurred, they would be handled easily, apprehending the rioters and punishing them.
But none of them were prepared for the response that came next.
“Kill them,” Atticus said, his words icy.
Every paragon turned to him, their eyes wide, and expressions filled with disbelief.
But Atticus didn’t stop there.
“And make it public.”
He looked at them all calmly and continued.
“I already showed them all they needed to know. So if they still decide to be stupid, we let them know they’re not as important as they think.”
Silence.
The paragons shifted uncomfortably. And of them, only Oberon responded.
“All right.”
And with that, Atticus gave a bow to Magnus, then left with him, leaving the remaining paragons to float there in silence, still processing the cold words of the nineteen-year-old.
The silence stayed until Vexarius finally spoke.
“Oberon.”
Oberon turned to him, unbothered.
“What?”
“Now we’re killing our own people?” Vexarius snapped.
The other paragons remained quiet, watching the conversation with different thoughts. They had already chosen to follow Atticus, and they had signed the mana contract that bound them to him.
But now, Atticus had revealed a side that sent a chill through many of them.
And in that moment, an unsettling realization dawned on each of them:
If they ever stepped out of line, Atticus wouldn’t hesitate to kill them.
Oberon’s voice was even as he replied.
“You saw what just happened. You saw how close the citizens were to turning on us.”
“If we’re going to survive this, we need unity. Anyone who disrupts that now… is a traitor. And I agree with him. If we coddle and condone rebellion, we’ll never move forward. We send a message now, or we suffer later.”
Vexarius opened his mouth to protest, “But—”
But Oberon had already turned. Without another word, he streaked off into the horizon, leaving a trail of light behind him.
The paragons stood in silence for a few more moments. No one spoke. Not even Vexarius.
But eventually, one by one, the others left.

Vexarius remained a few seconds longer, alone in the sky.
Then, with a low growl filled with frustration, he followed.
Meanwhile, as the paragons were thinking about their next moves, two figures walked side by side across the Ravenstein estate.
Magnus and Atticus.
It went without saying that the both of them moving together drew attention.
The moment they appeared, it was as though the people in the estate had paused, stopping whatever they were doing to watch them pass.
It was as if the events that had just happened were a passing breeze.
“How’s training going?” Magnus suddenly asked.
Atticus glanced up at him, his expression easing a little.
“It’s going great, Grandpa.”
“We need all the preparation we can get before the shield stops functioning.”
Magnus nodded. He hadn’t reacted to Atticus’s order to kill the citizens. The Ravensteins had never been merciful people.
“Take it easy,” Magnus said.
Atticus smiled and gave a quiet nod. But he saw that Magnus was still staring at him intensely. Just as he was about to ask if something was wrong, Magnus spoke.
“Don’t forget.”
Atticus blinked. Then his eyes widened slightly… before a smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
‘Of course.’ He remembered.
Two weeks ago, he had made a promise to open up to Magnus, and this was his gentle reminder.
Atticus nodded.
“I won’t.”
With that, Magnus said nothing more and his body turned into a streak of light that disappeared.
Atticus stood there for a moment. Then, with a quiet exhale, he blipped, reappearing in the center of his training room.
He quickly stepped forward and moved towards the middle of the room, trying to ignore the annoyance occurring in the back of his mind.
Ozeorth.
“The arrogance! To fire at us! I’ll crush more of their lizard skulls. Eletantron… Jezenet… I’ll make them regret ever being born—”
Still, Atticus didn’t answer. He tried his best not to even listen.
His mind instead ran fast as he thought about what he had noted earlier.
Eletantron. Jezenet.
‘They bonded with the cores… both of them.’
His eyes turned cold, his footsteps slowing.
It had been a suspicion. A worst-case scenario he had thought of. But it had become the case.
He hadn’t been able to sense it earlier, as the Aegis Shield had blocked his senses. But the moment he saw them, Atticus knew.
Their appearance had changed, and they bore small resemblances to the other races.
‘Lucendi, Requiem, Transmutari, Demon, Elves, Dwarves…’
Those were the cores that Atticus believed the Dimensari had in their possession.
And now, those two had fused with all of them.
His gaze dropped as he breathed heavily.
‘I have to get ready.’
Atticus lowered himself to the floor, sitting cross-legged in the middle of the room.
He hadn’t felt their full power yet, but he didn’t need to.
He knew.
They were stronger. Far stronger than they had been two weeks ago.
‘To be safe… I should assume their power-up is on the same scale as when I first bonded with a core.’
From his storage space, he brought out a dull brown orb, the Nullite’s core.
He made it hover silently in front of him.
‘It’s time to absorb another core.’
He stared at it for a moment, feeling its heavy presence.
It had been two weeks already, and if today’s events were anything, they were a reminder to him that what was coming wasn’t going to be easy.
‘I have to grow stronger.’
Atticus’s eyes turned an intense purple and he began unraveling the Nullite’s core. And as the moments passed, the threads unraveled, showing the mana signature.
Atticus copied it instantly, and then, he felt the surge of energy as the core fused with his mana core.
