Chapter 1142: Grave
Atticus approached the door to his room calmly.
The soulkin had shamelessly perched himself atop his head, wriggling and shifting every few seconds as he tried to part Atticus’s bushy hair to make himself more comfortable.
He whimpered once, twice, then gave a satisfied chirp as he settled in.
Atticus let him. Completely.
It was already clear who held the power in this relationship, and it wasn’t him. With how cute he was, Atticus doubted he had the heart to refuse the little beast anything.
‘I should give him a name soon.’ Atticus thought.
“Hmph, I already took care of that,” Ozeroth suddenly said.
Atticus raised an eyebrow. “Really? You looked like you wanted nothing more than to rip him apart the last time you two interacted. But now you’re naming him? This one and a half month has been eventful, huh… Daddy Ozzy.”
“Don’t read too much into it, Bond,” Ozeroth huffed. “I just decided to do him a favor! He was just so pitiful being called soulkin constantly.”
Though Ozeroth tried to deny it, Atticus wasn’t buying it, not one bit.
“Right… so what name did you give him?”
There was a slight pause.
“…Ozzy.”
Atticus froze, his hand just inches from the door. Did he just hear that correctly? He shook his head. ‘I see what you’re trying to do here. You can forget it.’
“W-What, Bond? It’s a name that suits him perfectly. He’s cute and prideful. Perfect match!”
Atticus smiled. “You’re cute too. And also prideful. That name was specially chosen for you, with love. Are you really going to throw that away?”
“Yes! The great Ozeroth is the great Ozeroth! Not Ozzy!” Ozeroth didn’t hesitate.
Atticus chuckled. “Well, too bad. That’s going to be your nickname whether you like it or not.”
“Ahhh!” Ozeroth instantly rampaged in his mind, but Atticus tuned him out as he stepped outside the door.
The hot afternoon air hit him like a wave, and Atticus took in the scene before him.
The sun was high in the sky, its scorching rays casting their glow on the chaos unfolding beneath him.
He was somehow perched on the highest peak, within a tree at the heart of the domain. From here, Atticus could see everything.
People were scrambling through the streets, lifting different packs of supplies, surging toward the dome’s edge with urgency.
Fires blazed in destroyed buildings, and people of different races passed buckets, trying desperately to put them out.
He could smell the fear in the air. He could feel the desperation.
Then, Atticus turned to the skies.
The aegis shield was still active, covering the entire domain in a blue dome. But that wasn’t what caught his eye.
From every direction, beams of pure energy surged toward the shield, engulfing the skies in crimson light.
But before they could hit, multiple holes opened in the aegis shield, just enough to allow the beams from the warships at the domain’s edge to pierce through.
Each beam struck the incoming attacks mid-air, triggering bursts of energy that exploded across the sky.

The crimson glow reflected in the wide, trembling eyes of the people below. Many clutched their loved ones tightly.
There was only one word to describe the scene.
Chaos.
‘The shockwaves didn’t reach me.’
That was the first thing that came to Atticus’s mind. A war was raging, and he hadn’t even known.
He glanced back at the room he had just come out from, noticing the flickering runes etched into the outer walls.
‘That’s why.’ The runes had shielded him from the worst of the vibrations.
Though they hadn’t blocked out his perception, he hadn’t spread it since he was still recovering, and in his current state, he doubted he’d have sensed anything useful.
‘The Zorvans… shit.’
It was worse than he thought. According to Aurora, they were in the Evolari domain. Which meant…
They had broken through during the Hollow Sun.
The aegis shield still held, but Atticus knew it was only a matter of time before the crystals finished.
And when that happened… he had no idea what to expect.
‘It’s time to stop being idle.’ He was tired of resting. Now it was time for action. First, he needed to find out what the hell was going on.
Just as he was about to extend his perception, Atticus paused. His eyes shifted to the side, locking onto a figure streaking toward him at high speed.
A second later, it landed, revealing Oberon. Beside him stood Anastasia, who had clearly gone to fetch him.
But Oberon didn’t look like Oberon. At least, not the one Atticus knew well.
Oberon was a precise man. Tidy. Deliberate. His clothing was always well-worn, neat, and without a single wrinkle.
But now, all of that was gone.
Oberon looked like he had been through hell and back.
He was clad in battle armor that looked like it hadn’t been taken off in over a month. Dirt, blood, and grime coated its surface.
But more than that, what stood out was his face. Heavy eye bags. A drained expression that screamed of exhaustion.
Atticus doubted the man had gotten any real sleep during the entire one and a half month. Still, even just losing sleep, even for that long, wasn’t enough to make a paragon look like this.
There was no doubt about it. The weight of the situation was intense.
“How long until the shield goes down?”
Atticus’s tone was calm, but the heavy aura that accompanied his words made Oberon instinctively take a step back.
‘I thought he wasn’t fully healed?’ Oberon was stunned.
Atticus Ravenstein was recovering. That was the information passed down to everyone. And Oberon could see it clearly with his own eyes.
But despite that… his aura was still this heavy?
Oberon stopped the greeting he had been about to give. There was no need. The message was clear, go straight to the point.
“Seventeen more days,” he replied. “But that can become zero at any second.”
“What do you mean?” Atticus’s gaze narrowed sharply.
Oberon’s tone turned grim. He lowered his voice.
“The Zorvans have a weapon that neutralizes the Aegis Shield.”
Atticus’s eyes shot open. “W-What?” His voice stuttered from sheer shock.
