Chapter 523: Chapter 523: Ashen’s Victory Report, Eterna’s Despair
Eterna could not afford to ignore the situation any longer. Once both sides had rested and recovered, the natives would certainly take full advantage of their knowledge of their weaknesses and launch a full-scale attack.
Through this battle, he had come to a grim realization: these natives were not to be underestimated. Their accumulation of strength, their hidden trump cards, and even the power of the upper realms—all of it may have been just as potent as that of the Orichalcum gods, if not more.
Faced with the inevitable onslaught of these natives, gathering all their strength into a single, overwhelming strike, there was no doubt in Eterna’s mind that they would not be able to hold their ground. Defeat was only a matter of time. When that happened, the royal city would be destroyed, wiped from existence, and utterly erased from the world.
At this thought, Eterna’s face twisted with frustration. He was caught in a dilemma—should he give everything to keep Terran and his forces here, or should he let them leave? However, as he glanced at the state of his own gods, the decision became even more difficult.
If it came to a battle, they would be at a severe disadvantage. The Ashen gods, despite their injuries, outnumbered them by a large margin. While only three or four of them were still at full strength, the rest were heavily wounded. In contrast, their forces were severely depleted, and the gap in numbers was too great. A single round of siege would likely annihilate those remaining gods in a brutal display of overwhelming numbers.
Eterna’s gaze became increasingly melancholic. With a sigh, he began to think about the future of the Orichalcum kingdom. If their integration with the world was to be severed here, they would be forced to drift endlessly through the void. Forgotten by all, with no source of belief to sustain them, they would face the impending catastrophe and the various threats lurking in the void.
The outcome would likely be no better than a total defeat.
Unfortunately, it was too late to turn back. There was no way to reverse their fate. To survive with even a single life would be considered a stroke of luck. It was far better than those below demigod rank. Even the Ascendants, those closest to becoming demigods, were still nothing more than fragile reeds in the vast sea—insignificant pawns in the grand game of fate.
Terran shared a similar line of thinking. After all, they had already wiped out over a dozen of the enemy’s gods. Even if Boris’s side were to fail, as long as they protected their remaining forces, they would still hold a decisive advantage once they recovered.
He cast a glance at the wary enemies observing them, a dangerous glint of malice flashing in his eyes. Sooner or later, he would wipe out these invaders. He would use their souls and Divine Authority as stepping stones to elevate his own power to greater heights!
“Heh, looks like they aren’t completely brainless after all. They actually know when to pull back,” a mocking smile appeared on the face of Sterl, who had intentionally slowed his pace and was now heading toward their position.
The scenes of battle between the two sides were all within Sterl’s view. He had originally expected both sides to continue fighting until the Orichalcum forces were entirely wiped out. However, to his surprise, Terran remained so vigilant.
Just because of a slight suspicion, he had stopped his advance before the divine shield expired. It could only be said that experience truly counted for something.
Unfortunately for them, everything had already been under Sterl’s control. With the map module in place, Sterl was operating from a high-dimensional perspective, strategizing and laying out his plans on a much grander scale. Even the gods themselves could not perceive the truth of the situation.
“You’re leaving? Then all my efforts would have been in vain…” he muttered to himself, eyes narrowing. At present, the Orichalcum side still had more than ten gods remaining, and combined with those stationed in the royal city, they had nearly thirty gods in total.
The Ashen side, too, had a similarly large number, perhaps even more than the Orichalcum forces. The more gods that died now, the easier it would be for Sterl to deal with them later. So…
With a sudden shift in thought, Boris, who had been desperately fleeing with nine other Ashen gods towards their base, came to a sudden stop. He had received an order from his master.
Without hesitation, he immediately sent a message to Terran through the special communication network of the Ashen faction.
Under Sterl’s meticulous planning, sure enough, Terran, who had been preparing to retreat, halted abruptly. A look of surprise, mixed with delight, instantly spread across his previously angry and determined face!
He had received Boris’s message. The content of the message was startling: the Orichalcum-recruited individual named Hades, along with the other nine gods, had all been slain!
The delay in the transmission had been due to the chaotic Divine Power and Hades’s desperate last struggle, which had left many injured. That was why the news had been delayed in reaching them.
“Heh…”
Terran lowered his head slightly, a grin spreading across his face as he let out an exaggerated laugh.
“Hahahaha! The Orichalcum kingdom… it looks like their future is already sealed. Today… marks the day of your Annihilation!”
The other Ashen gods also received the shared information from Terran, and the anxiousness that had been weighing on their hearts instantly vanished. Just like Terran, they too wore expressions of joy and relief.
Their retreat hadn’t been out of fear of Eterna and his forces, but because of concerns regarding the situation on the other front. Now that good news had arrived, the retreat was no longer necessary. They would strike while the iron was hot and wipe out the Orichalcum forces once and for all!
Without even needing a command from Terran, all the gods, as if they had already agreed upon it, charged forward with ferocity, heading straight for Eterna and the others.
This scene made Eterna’s eyes widen. His mind quickly began to race. In an instant, he deduced the reason. If the cautious Terran had changed his mind, it must be because he was absolutely certain of the outcome.
And what could make Terran so certain? It could only be that Hades and his forces had truly been annihilated—only then could it be considered a foolproof victory!
“Is it really true that this world cannot accommodate Orichalcum?” Eterna was stunned. His mind was suddenly consumed by endless gloom. He had once been full of confidence, but now, he was about to face death and destruction. The intense, rollercoaster-like emotional plunge kept jolting his nerves.

Finally, he took a deep breath, his gaze fixed on the Ashen gods charging at him. His eyes, bloodshot and filled with fury, hardened with resolve. “We’ll fight them to the end!”
In an instant, a battle even more brutal than the previous one erupted.
This time, the Ashen side was without divine shields, and the Orichalcum side had no more Sword of Doomsday Judgment. All their trump cards and items had been used up in the previous battle. Now, they could rely only on their bodies, their Divine Power, and their Laws!
Boom!!
The battle entered a heated phase right from the start. On one side, the Ashen gods were filled with madness and excitement, while on the other side, the Orichalcum gods were filled with unwillingness and a sense of inevitable death. Various attacks and abilities rained down on each other without restraint.
However, the disparity in numbers was too glaring. Nearly every Orichalcum god had to face the combined assault of two gods. Even though these Ashen gods were also wounded, they were in better condition than their opponents, who were not in much better shape.
“You didn’t expect this, did you?” Terran’s gaze was cold as he stared at Eterna. He didn’t call for assistance but wanted to take Eterna’s head himself, as this would allow him to free up a combatant to deal with the others.
Eterna said nothing, but his eyes remained eerily calm. He knew that in this situation, maintaining absolute composure was key. If fear took hold, he would collapse without a fight!
Especially now, as his divine nature was gradually being overtaken by human emotions, he needed to exert even more control over his feelings.
“Heh, you don’t know what you’re talking about. I had planned to kill you directly, but now, I’ve changed my mind. I’ll capture you, strip you of your power, imprison your soul, and make you my eternal slave,” Terran sneered.
Eterna’s expression didn’t change much, but Terran could feel the excitement building within him. He could sense an undercurrent of fear—subtle yet undeniable—seeping out from Eterna. For a god, such emotions were too obvious, like the scent of blood in the darkness, impossible to hide.
At that moment, the air was filled with the sounds of unwilling screams and anguished wails, as many of the Orichalcum gods, under the relentless siege, were slaughtered. However, as they realized there was no hope of survival, they began to fight back desperately, causing a few of the Ashen gods to fall as well.
“First, I’ll suppress you, then you’ll see how I personally slaughter them,” Terran sneered.
With that, he launched a fierce assault, his fist slamming down. As expected, the figure of Eterna before him was merely an illusion. However, Terran had long since figured out Eterna’s methods. With a malicious grin, he suddenly spun around and struck with full force.
This punch, devoid of any flashy light or complicated aura, appeared completely ordinary—but its speed was astonishing. It cut through space like a bolt of lightning!
Almost simultaneously, a glint of cold light flashed from behind him, aiming directly for Terran’s head. However, the punch intercepted it.
Bang!
The two forces collided with a sharp, clear sound. There was no lingering shockwave, but the very space around them seemed to collapse inward.
“You’re nothing but a rat. Your tricks are useless against me now,” Terran sneered, grinning as he readied himself to attack again.
“Shit! Do you think I’m afraid of you?” Eterna roared, his voice filled with rage. Desperation drove him to summon his true strength. With the divine shield gone, he had no more hesitation and launched into a furious assault.
The two figures blurred into shadows, each moving with lightning speed. Every second, their strikes clashed hundreds of times.
From his vantage point, high above, Sterl observed the battle with a satisfied nod. “Now, this is more like it. You’re gods, after all. Fighting to the death—this isn’t some children’s game.”
A mysterious smile played across Sterl’s face as he watched god after god fall. He felt a surge of pleasure, but there was a tinge of regret. These were valuable souls, after all. However, he quickly dismissed that thought. In the grand scheme of things, compared to the rewards he would gain from completing the legendary story, these souls were hardly worth worrying about.
