Chapter 610: Chapter 610: Soul Shock! A Lethal Ambush!
Sterl’s eyes nearly popped out of his head in disbelief!
When he saw that the mastermind behind all this had actually sent out these cannon fodder creatures, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of confusion.
After all, beings above the gods and below them were already considered to be from entirely different dimensions. In the face of gods, the strength of mere mortals was utterly powerless. The so-called formations were, in fact, set up by the gods themselves.
Yet, the power displayed by these cannon fodder had once again shattered Sterl’s worldview. He had originally thought of these cannon fodder as insignificant, only to realize that he had vastly underestimated their strength.
To his astonishment, these strange gray mists actually possessed the ability to annihilate gods. It was almost beyond belief!
If it hadn’t been for Boris and the others intervening, this wave of attack could have easily taken down the careless God of Werewolves, sending him offline in an instant!
Moreover, judging from the phenomena, the mastermind behind all of this had an incredibly powerful ability to analyze the battle and control these cannon fodder.
In the blink of an eye, the mastermind had already analyzed the divine authority that ten gods could unleash. The Alienated Hellspawn that had fused together were perfectly designed to resist and counteract this divine suppression.
This strategy made Sterl involuntarily think of a very simple creature—the ant!
Ants were undeniably one of the most powerful species when it came to their collective strength. Within the colony, the queen created everything, controlled everything, and every action was carried out under her direction—perfect and flawless, with no room for error.
For the lowest-ranking worker ants and soldier ants, their sole purpose was to obey orders and carry out their tasks with meticulous precision.
Now, these strange invaders gave Sterl the exact same feeling.
The regular Silver Spiders were like the worker ants in the colony, and the mastermind behind them was akin to the queen ant—controlling everything from behind the scenes!
If that was the case, the best solution would be to strike directly at the heart of the hive, to destroy the mastermind. Once that was done, the cannon fodder would be left without leadership, making them easy to eliminate.
However, this approach only worked on ants. These bizarre creatures weren’t ants—they were terrifying beings capable of threatening, or even eradicating, gods!
Thus, Sterl didn’t act hastily. He continued observing the invaders’ tactics, hoping that, with the help of Boris and the others, he could draw out the full extent of the Silver Spiders’ abilities. That would be the best course of action.
He didn’t want to face these creatures only to have some unknown, powerful move suddenly emerge, one that he knew nothing about.
It took quite some time, but eventually, the God of Werewolves recovered from the shadow of death.
“Do not engage these things in close combat,” he warned, his voice filled with lingering fear. “Otherwise, that strange mist will attach itself to you…”
It wasn’t until now that he recalled how he had been affected.
It turned out that while he was attacking these Alienated Hellspawn, he had unknowingly gotten contaminated by the mist. Each time he made contact with them, a faint gray mist would silently cling to him. After attacking thousands of these Alienated Hellspawn, he realized too late that the initially weak mist had accumulated to a level where it could now consume him!
What was even more terrifying was that every strike of his had been completed within a fraction of a second. Even so, the mist had still managed to cling to him. It was beyond horrifying!
Upon hearing this, Boris and the others became immediately serious. One of the gods quickly activated their Law, releasing a repelling skill to prevent the mist from suddenly attacking them as well.
At the same time, those Alienated Hellspawn that had been smashed into the ground by the God of Werewolves were rapidly recovering.
Dozens of Silver Spiders rushed into the craters, exploding as they fused together. In an instant, those Alienated Hellspawn, which had been twisted and nearly torn to pieces by the God of Werewolves, were fully restored. Not only that, their aura became even stronger!
However, through his Soul Insight, Sterl noticed that the newly fused Alienated Hellspawn, while indeed more powerful, had much weaker souls than before.
Recalling the giant hundred-meter-tall spider that had only lasted for a second, he couldn’t help but breathe a small sigh of relief.
It seemed that these creatures couldn’t keep fusing endlessly. The more they fused, the more unstable their souls became. This, at least, was a weakness, though not a significant one.
Of course, Boris and the others didn’t have the ability to see the state of their souls, so they only knew that these revived creatures had become stronger!
“Attack from a distance!” Boris quickly pinpointed the issue. “We must completely wipe them out, or they’ll keep recovering.”

With that, he took the lead and initiated the attack, channeling the power of his three Divine Authorities. He unleashed a Cursed Desert Storm—but this time, he didn’t blanket all the Alienated Hellspawn. Instead, he targeted just a few dozen of them, and then began his relentless assault to obliterate them!
The divine power from the gods enveloped the several dozen Alienated Hellspawn, and with the combined suppression of the ten divine authorities, the creatures were immediately immobilized. The gray mist surrounding them was visibly being worn away at a rapid pace.
In no time at all, these Alienated Hellspawn were reduced to dust, their souls completely obliterated, leaving them with no possibility of recovery.
Seeing this, the others quickly joined in. The God of Wind Whisper summoned countless wind blades, slicing through dozens of Alienated Hellspawn, reducing them to powder.
A god who wielded the Thunder Divine Authority called down countless bolts of divine lightning, blasting the creatures into charred remains and causing them to collapse and fall apart.
After the ten gods shifted their strategy from wide-area attacks to focused, smaller-scale strikes, even the Alienated Hellspawn formed by hundreds of fused Silver Spiders couldn’t withstand this power. The thousands of mutated creatures began to rapidly disintegrate and vanish.
In less than half a minute, this fusion army was entirely annihilated. As for the remaining regular Silver Spiders, it was even easier—just the suppression from the divine authorities of the ten gods was enough to keep them motionless, and they were quickly eradicated as well.
Following Sterl’s command, after wiping out the Silver Spiders, Boris and the others exchanged looks and immediately flew toward the direction from which these strange insects had come.
They too wanted to see what kind of being was behind the invasion.
However, at that moment, a shrill, piercing scream suddenly rang out.
The sound seemed to carry some kind of dark magic, spreading across the entire world in an instant. Boris and the others were struck by the noise, feeling dizzy and disoriented.
“Damn it, it’s a soul-shattering attack!” Boris snapped as he regained his bearings, quickly releasing a Cursed Desert Barrier around everyone.
The others also stopped and focused, gathering their strength to restore their mental clarity.
Soul-based attacks were generally easy for them to detect with their divine souls, allowing them to resist or evade the assault. However, this particular attack was incredibly subtle, and it moved with such speed that it left them no time to react.
Although it was only a shock, the soul was fragile, and even though their souls had evolved into divine souls, they remained vulnerable.
The impact could easily cause their powers to fail, or worse, lead to a backlash.
Sterl was also surprised. He hadn’t expected these creatures to possess such a powerful soul-shattering ability. Even he hadn’t sensed it in advance.
However, given the strength of his soul, this level of impact was nothing—far less than the backlash he experienced when absorbing soul energy. It was practically a drizzle, insignificant and harmless.
At that moment, his gaze sharpened. He noticed that while Boris and the others were still recovering from the effects of the soul-shattering attack, dozens of strange creatures were rapidly closing in on them.
Sterl immediately sent out a warning signal. Everyone froze for a split second, then quickly reacted.
Boris spun around just in time to see a silver-white dagger, glowing like a beam of light, pierce through the outer Cursed Desert Barrier, grazing past his head.
“Enemy attack!” he growled, channeling his Divine Power and launching a powerful punch, wrapped in a massive cloud of yellow sand.
But the assailant, having missed its strike, instantly vanished from its original position, and Boris’s punch struck nothing but air.
It wasn’t just him—at the moment Sterl’s warning reached them, the other gods also hastily reacted, narrowly avoiding a fatal strike.
However, two gods weren’t so lucky, and they were struck by the blade, their bodies sliced open.
“What the hell are these things?!” one of the injured gods, the God of Sculptures, clutched his arm, his face contorted with pain.
“Such speed… we didn’t even see them coming. And their weapons carry that strange power. It’s weak, but if it had struck a vital spot…” another god, the God of Flame Crystals, said, his voice tinged with unease. He glanced at a tiny scratch on his side, but the faint gray mist lingering on the wound was burning through his Divine Power. Despite his vitality, it wasn’t healing. If the blade had struck his heart or brain, could he have died?
Fortunately, their souls had mostly recovered from the earlier shock, and they were now cautiously on guard.
They had thought that the mastermind behind the invasion had run out of options, but they hadn’t expected such a potent, secretive attack.
Had it not been for Sterl’s timely warning, they might have taken a serious hit!
Boris and the others cast wary glances around them. Not far in front, dozens of silver-white creatures, resembling praying mantises, stood motionless. Two Silver Mantises had curved blades that were stained with divine blood.
However, the divine blood quickly seeped into their blades, as though being absorbed or devoured.
This sight sent a chill through Boris and the others, their expressions growing even more somber.
