Chapter 131: Magnus’ Dominance
Dreston wasted no time. He turned to his Whirlwind Wolf and ordered it to attack. “Gale Slash!”
The Whirlwind Wolf growled. Its claws began to glow as it swiped through the air. Sharp wind blades materialized and went toward the Inferno Tortoise.
Magnus stood confidently. He smirked and folded his arms. “Let me see how strong you really are. Inferno Tortoise, don’t move. Let it attack.”
The massive tortoise growled low. It planted its feet firmly on the ground.
It made no effort to dodge. Its molten shell radiated heat as the Gale Slash struck.
The wind blades hit their target, creating sparks as they clashed against the tortoise’s tough exterior.
A few scratches appeared on the shell, but the Inferno Tortoise remained unshaken.
Dreston frowned. He was frustrated because he was underestimated. “Don’t stop! Use Gale Slash again—and again!”
The Whirlwind Wolf howled. It swiped its claws to send more sharp wind blades toward the Inferno Tortoise.
After a few moments, the Inferno Tortoise still stood strong. It growled. It shook its body slightly as if shrugging off the damage.
The scratches were visible, but they seemed insignificant against its massive, imposing form.
Magnus burst into loud laughter. “That’s it? That’s all your beast can do? It looks like I won’t even have to try. Inferno Tortoise, counterattack! Use Magma Breath!”
The tortoise opened its massive jaws, and a searing stream of molten magma erupted forth from it. It surged toward the Whirlwind Wolf.
Dreston frowned. He turned to his Whirlwind Wolf and shouted. “Dodge it! And use Cyclone Dash!”
The Whirlwind Wolf leapt to the side, narrowly avoiding the stream of magma. It began to sprint in a wide circle around the Inferno Tortoise.
The faster it ran, the stronger the wind currents it generated. A cyclone began to form beneath the Inferno Tortoise, lifting its massive body slightly off the ground.
Magnus frowned for the first time as he watched the tortoise being lifted. “What the hell? It can do this.”
Dreston smirked as he mocked. “What’s wrong, Magnus? Not so confident now, are you? Let’s see how your stupid big beast deals with this!”
The cyclone spun faster and the Inferno Tortoise was shaking slightly in the air. But Magnus quickly regained his composure.
He turned to the Inferno Tortoise. He raised his hand and shouted. “Use Flaming Fortress!”
The tortoise growled deeply, retracting its head, legs, and tail into its glowing molten shell.
A fiery shield flared to life around it, the intense heat pushing back the swirling wind.
The tortoise’s body grew heavier, stabilized against the cyclone.
Dreston was surprised by this and he also realized that his Whirlwind Wolf was already fatigued from maintaining the cyclone. He frowned and ordered one last attack. “Gale Slash!”
The wolf slashed once more. It sent another sharp wind blade toward the tortoise. But this time, the flaming shield around the Inferno Tortoise absorbed the attack.
The wind blade was reflected back with added heat, flying straight toward the Whirlwind Wolf.
The wolf barked as the heated blade struck it, leaving scorched fur in its wake. The sudden counter sent the wolf stumbling backward.
But as it tried to regain its footing, it accidentally stepped into a pool of molten lava left from the earlier Magma Breath.
The wolf howled in pain as the heat overwhelmed it and burned a lot of its fur. Its fur was now scorched and its energy was drained.

Dreston’s confident smirk disappeared. It was replaced by a deep frown, as his beast was in very bad condition.
Magnus laughed loudly. He looked at Dreston and declared. “And that’s how it’s done! Your beast was no match for my Inferno Tortoise.”
The evaluator stepped forward. His gaze shifted between the two tamers. He nodded slowly and his hands were clasped behind his back. “Both of you demonstrated considerable skill.”
He turned to Magnus. “Magnus Volcaria. Your beast’s resilience and raw power are exceptional.”
“The way it absorbed the repeated Gale Slash attacks and countered with Flaming Fortress was impressive. It’s clear your beast was bred and trained for dominance.”
Magnus smirked. He crossed his arms over his heightened chest. “Naturally. That’s what it means to be a Volcaria.”
Dreston, who stood a few steps away, clenched his fists tightly at Magnus’s words. He tightened his jaw as he tried to suppress his frustration.
Without a word, he summoned a portal that let his Whirlwind Wolf return to rest from the fatigue.
The evaluator turned toward Dreston. “Dreston Velcour. Your Whirlwind Wolf is fast, precise, and adaptive. Its ability to create a cyclone and destabilize such a massive opponent is no small feat.”
Dreston’s tense posture relaxed slightly because of the compliment, but his frowning face still remained.
The evaluator continued. “Unfortunately, your beast faced an opponent that was not only larger but far more resilient.”
“The Inferno Tortoise’s power and defense outmatched your wolf in this instance. Even so, your strategic use of speed and wind manipulation showed exceptional control.”
Magnus smirked as he heard it. “Good effort, Dreston. But in the end, it wasn’t enough.”
Dreston glared at him. He was frustated but still held it in. “Next time will be different.”
The evaluator sighed and raised a hand. “Enough. Both of you have demonstrated that you possess the skill, control, and adaptability required for the Platinum Class.”
Magnus’s smirk widened further. He looked at the evaluator. “So does that mean…”
The evaluator nodded. “You both pass. Prepare yourselves—the Platinum Class is not for the faint of heart. You’ll face challenges that will push you to your limits.”
Magnus turned to Dreston with a triumphant smirk. “Looks like we’re both moving up, but let’s not forget who dominated today.”
Dreston said nothing, his fists clenching briefly before he turned away. He already knew what he should do next.
The evaluator stepped back, gesturing toward the exit. “Report to the administration office to finalize your placements. Congratulations to you both.”
Magnus smirked as he exited the chamber. He also put his Inferno Tortoise back to his beast space. “Let’s see what the Platinum Class has to offer.”
Dreston already exited the room earlier than Magnus. Magnus didn’t care about it as Dreston was just another sacrifice for his fame.
