Chapter 134: A Fractured Barrier

Inside one of the Platinum Residences of the Evolist Division, Kaltrik sat in the main hall. Papers and notes lay scattered across the table before him.

He was frustated as his works had become larger and heavier. It was because of the recent attack on one of their largest Evolist hubs.

Kaltrik leaned back in his chair. He frowned after thinking that his workload had been tripled just because of this accident.

He clenched his fist and muttered. “Damn them. Whoever dared to attack us will pay dearly.”

He then turned his attention toward the center of the table. A vial that was filled with a deep red liquid sat on the table.

Kaltrik reached for the vial and held it up. The red liquid was glowing and also exuding an intense heat and aura from it.

Kaltrik scanned it again. This had become his habit. “Just what beast is this blood essence coming from?”

The question had been in his mind even since he got this vial from a certain cave. He didn’t know its origin but the aura from it was really strong.

The aura radiating from it was so intense that giving it to one of his beasts was out of the question. It would only destroy them.

And yet, the essence’s presence alone had already begun to affect his beasts. His beasts had grown stronger simply by absorbing the aura that emanated from the vial.

Kaltrik put the vial back on the table and smirked. “You are a mystery, but a powerful one.”

He leaned forward and tapped the edge of the tables with his fingers. “If I can unlock your secrets, you could be the foundation for my rise.”

Kaltrik’s gaze lingered on the vial. He could feel the possibilities swirling in his mind. New experiments, new beasts, or perhaps even a path to surpass his current level.

He turned to the vial again. “Let’s see what you’re made of. I’ll turn this loss into the beginning of my ascension.”

He then immediately reached for his tools. He was ready to dive deeper into his research. Although the destruction of his family’s hub had been a blow, Kaltrik was determined to reverse the situation.

The three Flares moved around while scanning the surroundings. Each of them held a small artifact in their hand.

It was a special item to sense the aura of legendary materials.

Yet, despite their efforts, the devices remained off. The aura of the materials still hadn’t been sensed.

Red Flare stopped abruptly. He turned to face the others. “Nothing. We’ve searched half the district, and there’s no trace of the legendary material.”

Yellow Flare let out a frustrated grunt and clenched his fists. “Yeah, the materials are supposed to be here somewhere. But so far, we’ve got nothing. Not even a hint of their aura.”

Blue Flare nodded. She still scanned the area around. “All we’ve been told is that the item is in the Platinum District.

Blue Flare also became frustated. “They didn’t even specify which part of the district—or which Platinum student might have it.”

Red Flare crossed his arms and frowned. “So we’re just shooting in the dark now. Damn it. How are we supposed to find something this important with so little information?”

Yellow Flare suddenly paused. He rubbed his chin as he thought of something. “Wait a minute. What if… it’s not in this area at all?”

Red Flare turned to him and frowned. “What do you mean that it was not here? The info said so.”

Yellow Flare gestured around them. “We’ve been focusing on the general Platinum District and the Tamer Division.”

Yellow Flare then gestured to another area. “But we don’t know if the material is known or not. Maybe the material was not even really guarded.”

Blue Flare thought about it more and smirked. “You might be onto something. There’s one place we haven’t checked yet—the Platinum District’s Evolist Division.”

Red Flare frowned after hearing it. “The Evolist Division? That’s not exactly an easy place to search. There is another barrier we need to pass to go there.”

Blue Flare widened her smirk. “Actually, it might be easier than you think. I’ve noticed something peculiar about this district.”

She then gestured toward the barrier. “Just like in the Golden Complex, the barriers around the Tamer and Evolist Divisions are… fused.”

Red Flare frowned. He stepped closer to inspect the faint glow of the barrier. “Fused? What does that mean?”

Blue Flare smirked in amusement. “It means the barriers have overlapping configurations. Probably a maintenance oversight.”

Blue Flare then pointed it again. “But still, it weakens the barrier between these divisions. With the right tools, we can pass through without raising any alarms.”

Yellow Flare immediately smirked. “So, just like in the Golden Complex, their security isn’t as tight as they’d like us to believe.”

Blue turned to him and smirked. “Exactly. That gives us a perfect opportunity to get into the Evolist Division. If the legendary materials are anywhere, it’s there.”

Red Flare straightened and smirked. “I see. So, with this fused barrier, we can slip in easily without any interference. That simplifies things.”

Blue Flare nodded. “Precisely. Now, let’s move before anyone realizes their mistake.”

Without wasting another moment, the three of them advanced toward the Platinum Evolist Division.

As they approached the shimmering barrier, Blue Flare pulled out a small device from her spatial ring.

She pressed a few buttons, and the device immediately caused the barrier to shimmer briefly before stabilizing.

Blue Flare gestured toward the now-passable area and smirked. “There. We’re good to go.”

Red Flare chuckled and rushed through it. “Perfect. Let’s find those materials and get what we came for.”

Yellow Flare smirked and followed. He also scanned the surroundings. “We’ll need to move fast. If anyone spots us, this whole operation could fall apart.”

Blue Flare smirked as she fixed the barrier back. “Don’t worry. Even if they realize it, they won’t know what just happened.”

The three Flares had now entered the Evolist Division. They were going to find the legendary materia.
