Chapter 136: The Flares’ Desperate Run Through the Platinum District

The three Flares moved silently through the Platinum District, but the alarm easily broke the silence. They could not become undetected for now.

Red Flare growled. He was frustated about the alarm as he glanced over his shoulder. “Damn it! That alarm’s too loud—we’re exposed!”

Blue Flare clenched her jaw. She scanned around to see for any sign of pursuit. “No point in hiding now. They’ll be swarming this area any moment.”

Yellow Flare clenched his fists and cursed. “Damn it. We need to move fast. We don’t need to run silently anymore.”

Blue Flare frowned and scolded him because of her frustation. “Then stop complaining and fuse with your beasts! Transform your legs—we need speed if we’re going to get out of here.”

Without hesitation, the three of them fused with their beasts. Their legs began to transform into a beast leg with dark fur growing around it.

Red Flare’s legs began to become shadow hound’s legs. Yellow Flare’s legs became shadow stag’s legs and Blue Flare’s legs became shadow cat’s legs.

The three of them then became faster as their agility stat was increased. With their shadow beast fusion, they easily became faster than before.

Blue Flare led them and barked. “Don’t stop! We keep moving until we’re out of this district!”

Red Flare glanced at her and growled. “Forget anything and just run. Don’t stop for anything.”

Yellow Flare grunted in agreement. “We’ve got the material. Nothing else matters right now.”

The three Flares dashed through the streets. The alarm was still ringing, but they didn’t look back.

All that mattered was escaping with the vial—and they would let nothing stand in their way.

Suddenly, they were surprised by a loud roar that appeared behind them. Before they could react, a big silver lion suddenly appeared and lunged directly at Blue Flare.

Blue Flare was too focused on her escape. She barely recognized the surroundings until it was too late.

The lion’s powerful body slammed into her side, sending her tumbling across the ground. She slid to a stop.

Blue Flare gasped as she didn’t know what was happening. She also felt the pain in her ribs from it. “Damn it. What the hell just happened?”

Before Blue Flare could realize what was happening, the silver lion wasted no time.

With a swift motion, it used its powerful jaws and bit Blue Flare’s hand that wore the spatial ring.

The silver lion easily severed her hand cleanly and tossed it aside with a flick of its head for its master to grab.

Blue Flare, who didn’t know what was happening, screamed in agony after her hand was severed. “AHHH!”

She clutched her bleeding arm as she writhed on the ground. Her shadowy cat legs began to twitch as she tried to push herself up.

Red Flare and Yellow Flare immediately stopped. They were shocked about the fast scene that just happened.

Red Flare immediately turned to Blue Flare and shouted. “Blue! What the hell happened to you?!”

Yellow Flare clenched his fist. He turned toward the silver lion. “Damn it. What the hell with this beast?”

The silver lion roared again, louder and more ferocious than before. The sound reverberated through the district, overpowering the blaring alarms.

The guards who heard the roar immediately shifted their focus. One of them shouted and pointed toward the source of the sound. “Over there! Something’s happening there!”

Within moments, the guards began to go toward the area. They knew something was there that made the alarm ring loud.

Red Flare cursed as he glanced toward Blue Flare, who was still writhing on the ground. “Damn it! This is bad!”

Yellow Flare nodded grimly. He turned to Red Flare. “We can’t stay! If we’re caught now, it’s over!”

Red Flare hesitated. He looked at Blue Flare, who was still writhing on the ground. He clenched his fist as he was frustated about the current condition.

Blue Flare clutched her bleeding arm and turned to Red Flare. She gritted her teeth and shouted. “Run! Don’t care about me! Just get out of here!”

The two remaining Flares froze for a second. Their instincts were screaming at them to flee.

The sound of the guard’s rapid approach broke their hesitation. They immediately decided to act.

Without another word, Red Flare and Yellow Flare turned and ran. They only focused on escaping the district.

They didn’t look back. They didn’t dare. The mission no longer mattered. Their own lives were the only priority now.

Suddenly, a loud voice appeared behind them as they were running. “Don’t think you can run.”

Both Flares turned their heads. They were surprised to see a man that was riding a big thunder wolf. They were coming for them.

The man pointed his two fingers at the two Flares. “Thunder Wolf, Thunder Strike!”

The Thunder Wolf let out a howl. Its body surged with thunder. A blinding bolt of lightning shot forth toward the two fleeing Flares.

Red Flare cursed as he twisted his body to face the incoming attack. “Damn it! Block it!”

Yellow Flare also stopped beside him and clenched his fists. “We can’t take this head-on! That attack was too strong!”

Red Flare glared at him and snapped. “I know! But we can’t escape, either! The attack’s too fast—there’s no time! Just transform your hands into shadow claws!”

Both Flares extended their hands. They began to transform their arms into the powerful claws of their shadow beasts.

They then raised their new dark claws to defend against the attack. They were hoping to absorb the brunt of the attack.

Unfortunately for them, they had made a grave miscalculation about the attack.

The lightning struck with devastating force. It easily overhelmed their defenses in an instant.

Their shadow claws were unable to withstand the power of the Thunder Wolf’s attack.

The air around them exploded, and both Flares were sent flying backward. Their bodies were slammed into the ground.

They never thought that the beast that stopped them was not a 5-Star beast. Instead, it was a 6-Star Beast.
