Chapter 138: Kaltrik Kryndal’s Death
Elder Harwick turned to one of his subordinates. “Which residence was targeted?”
The subordinate hesitated briefly before answering. “It was the second-ranked residence, sir… Kaltrik’s.”
Harwick was surprised and clenched his fists in frustration. “Damn it. To think it was his residence. Let’s go. We need to check on him immediately.”
Without wasting another moment, Harwick and his subordinates rushed toward Kaltrik’s residence.
The alarm had been turned off. When they entered, they were surprised to find the room was not so messy. It was not what they had anticipated.
But the moment they looked at what was in the center, they were shocked. Kaltrik lay motionless on the floor. It was not clear if he was dead or alive.
Harwick frowned and turned to his subordinates. “Quickly, check on him. Is he alive or dead?”
The subordinates moved immediately. They kneeled beside Kaltrik and inspected him. After a moment, one of them looked up and turned to Harwick.
He frowned and cautiously said, “Elder Harwick. He’s dead. His heart was stabbed. It was a clean strike. At least his death was quick.”
Harwick clenched his fist and tightened his jaw. “Damn it. Kaltrik is one of the best Evolists of the younger generation. To think he’s been killed so easily.”
He turned to his subordinate, who had delivered the news. “What about the items? Were any of them taken?”
The subordinate stood and moved toward the inventory logs and quickly scanned them.
After a few moments, they shook their heads. “According to the registered list, nothing seems to be missing.”
Harwick frowned deeply. “If the registered items are all accounted for, then it must have been one of the unregistered items.”
His gaze shifted to the table where Kaltrik had been working. He scanned the scattered equipment, notes, and vials, searching for clues.
“That means whatever was taken wasn’t officially documented. Something Kaltrik either acquired on his own or was working on in secret.”
Harwick turned back to his subordinates and frowned. “This is worse than I thought. Not only have we lost one of our most promising Evolists. But now we have an untraceable item in the hands of unknown enemies.”
He paused and clenched his fists tightly. “Not only that, Kaltrik was a member of the Kryndal family. One of the Duke families. It will be really troublesome to handle this matter.”
The subordinates exchanged uneasy glances. Harwick looked at them and straightened up.
“Double the patrols in the district. Secure every critical residence and asset. And notify the other guards. We need to act swiftly before this spirals further out of control.”
The subordinates nodded and moved quickly to carry out his orders. Harwick stood in the center of the room and clenched his fists as he stared at Kaltrik’s lifeless body.

Lucius was now sitting leisurely at his luxurious residence. Liora then entered and kneeled before Lucius.
Lucius turned to her and smirked. “So, did you handle it properly, Liora?”
Liora bowed slightly and smirked. “Yes, Master. Thanks to Elder Harwick, it was easier than expected. He’s a 6-Star Tamer, so it was easy for him to deal with them.”
Lucius smirked as he leaned back in his chair. “Elder Harwick, huh? One of the top elders here, no doubt. Did he suspect anything about our plan?”
Liora smirked. “Don’t worry, Master. I spoke with him carefully and ensured he wouldn’t connect anything back to us.”
Liora also raised his hand as if he pointed at the elder. “As far as he knows, I was simply passing through and offered assistance against intruders.”
Lucius glanced at her and smirked. “Good. He is not someone to underestimate. Keeping him in the dark was the right move.”

Liora bowed her head slightly. “Thank you, Master. Everything was handled as planned.”
Before Lucius could respond, Luna appeared from the shadow. She looked at Liora and smirked. “Thank you for your coverage.”
Liora turned to Luna and nodded. “Of course, Luna. I’m glad to be able to help you.”
Lucius turned to Luna and smirked. He curiously asked her. “Did you retrieve what we needed?”
Luna turned to Lucius and smirked. “Of course, Master. I’ve taken their brains and their spatial rings.”
Luna then gestured toward Liora. “Thanks to her distracting Elder Harwick, I could easily move and took what I needed from the shadow.
Luna also gestured to the night sky outside the window. “It was also night, making it even more impossible for them to detect me.”
Lucius chuckled and smirked. He was satisfied with Luna’s work. “Excellent. I expected no less.”
Luna then stepped closer to Lucius. She then smirked wider. “And there’s more, Master.”
Lucius looked at Luna’s face and smirked. “Seeing your expression, it should be a good matter for us. What did you do this time?”
Luna chuckled. She folded her arms and leaned in slightly. “I took the chance to eliminate one of our persistent threats. It was Kaltrik Kryndal, the older brother of Kaelix Kryndal.”
Lucius smirked and approved her action. “I see. You’ve made a good choice there. Tell me, How did you kill him?”
Luna straightened slightly. “He was already hypnotized by the intruders when I found him. So, I took the opportunity to kill him quickly.”
Luna then frowned when thinking about it. “Unfortunately, because of the time constraints, I couldn’t… take my time with him. No torture, just a clean strike.”
Lucius chuckled and smirked. “Don’t worry, Luna. You did the right thing. Eliminating him now means we’ve avoided future trouble.”
Liora glanced between Lucius and Luna. She folded her arms as she was satisfied. “With Kaltrik gone, the Kryndal family will be left in the dark. They won’t know anything about us.”
She paused briefly and turned to Lucius. “That will make our movements much easier than before.”
Lucius smirked and tapped his fingers lightly on his chair armrest. “Indeed. For now, we’ve neutralized the immediate threats. There’s no one left for us to concern, at least for now.”
Lucius then turned to Luna and smirked. “Let’s take a look at our mysterious item, shall we?”
