Chapter 183: A Twist in the Hall

Liora and Ragnar were currently moving deeper into the base. They could hear the sound of the battle, meaning that they were not really far.

Soon they arrived at the larger hall and they saw that there was a fight currently going on in the center of the room.

They knew all of the fighters. The one who stood in the center was Zerath, one of the Red Dragon Order’s elders and the one that Ragnar and the others followed to find out this base location.

He was facing Delano, the earth general and also Drayton, the patriarch of the Raventhorn family.

Zerath lunged forward. He was quite fast despite his size. He also flexed his claws as he aimed for Drayton. “You think your rock body can stop me.”

Drayton raised his right molten rock arm to intercept the strike. Lava began to drip from his arm, but he still smirked. “You’ll need more than that to break through me.”

Drayton immediately swung his left molten fist. He was aiming for Zerath’s midsection.

Zerath twisted his serpenty body. He narrowly avoided the blow as he retaliated with a flick of his ember-coated tail.

The tail struck Drayton’s arm and injected some venom into his arms, but his molten rock body quickly neutralized its effects.

Delano moved in from the side. He had concentrated his power on his right rock fist as he punched Zerath’s flank. “You talk too much.”

The blow connected and sent Zerath skidding across the floor. The ember fins along Zerath’s back flared as he hissed in rage.

His claws dug into the ground as he steadied himself. He glared at both of them and roared. “You’ll regret that!”

He used his tail like a whip and lashed it toward Delano. Delano raised his rock arm to block.

But the enraged Zerath was stronger than he thought. The attack cracked the ground beneath him, but Delano stood firm.

Delano retaliated with a powerful stomp to send shockwaves through the ground that caused Zerath to momentarily lose his footing.

Drayton seized the opportunity and charged toward Zerath with his molten fist. He also taunted him. “You’re not so tough when you’re outnumbered.”

Zerath snarled. His instincts took over as he opened his massive jaws. He immediately released a searing stream of venom, forcing Drayton to step back.

The venom struck the ground. It melted through the stone, creating a glowing pool of molten liquid.

Zerath glanced at them and growled. “You’re stronger than I expected, but strength means nothing in front of my molten venom.”

He coiled his body tightly as he unleashed Ember Fang Barrage. He unleashed a flurry of projectiles that rained down on the two golems from his fins.

Drayton raised his molten arms to shield himself from the onslaught as lava dripped from his body.

He also mocked him as he stepped forward through the barrage. “Is that all you’ve got?”

Delano charged through as well. His rock body absorbed the impact of the projectiles.

He glanced at Zerath and smirked. “Your venom won’t save you.”

The two golems advanced in unison. They were trying to force Zerath into the defensive state.

Zerath frowned. He used his claws to fight back, but the coordinated assault from Delano and Drayton began to overwhelm him.

Liora and Ragnar watched from the side. Ragnar smirked as he tapped his chin. “Interesting. This elder is quite strong, but he’s losing ground.”

Liora smirked as she glanced at the battle. “It’s only a matter of time before he fell. The question is, Do we let them finish him, or should we step in?”

Ragnar chuckled softly as he began to retract his claws and crouched down. “It seems you already know the answer, Liora.”

Liora nodded. She smirked as she flexed her claws. “Of course I do. I am just asking.”

Ragnar then scanned the surroundings before turning back to Liora. “By the way. I don’t see Karion. He must be somewhere deeper in the base.”

He turned to Liora and grinned. “I’ll leave this elder to you, then. Let’s see how he holds up against the Volcaria family’s genius.”

Liora smirked as she crouched slightly. “Understood, Patriarch. Hopefully, you’ll have enough fun playing with Karion and the others.”

Ragnar chuckled and turned away from the battle. “Oh, I will. Don’t take too long with this one, Liora. We still have work to do.”

Liora straightened. She flexed her claw and smirked as she turned her attention toward Zerath, Delano and Drayton. “Time to play.”

Delano and Drayton closed the distance toward Zerath. The moment they were in front of Zerath, both of them smirked. “This is the end.”

Delano raised his right massive rock fist. Drayton also raised his left massive molten fist.

Zerath frowned the moment he saw both fists. He coiled his serpentine body defensively as he braced for impact. “Damn you!”

But just as the two fists were about to connect with Zerath, a blur of silver flames appeared between them. The sudden presence shocked them all, but the attacks were not halted.

Liora stood in the middle. She glanced at two massive fists bearing down on her without a hint of fear. In one fluid motion, she raised both her claws and caught both strikes easily.

Delano and Drayton were surprised. They could not believe what was going on. They also couldn’t clearly see the one who stopped their attacks.

Liora smirked as she didn’t give them time to react. She pulled her claws back, pulling both Delano and Drayton toward her easily.

In that split second, Liora released their fists and stepped back slightly. She immediately clenched her claws and smirked. “Let’s see if you can handle this.”

She punched both of them in the faces. Her right fist connected to Delano and her left fist with Drayton.

The force of her strikes sent both tamers flying backward, their massive forms crashing into opposite walls and cracking the ground.

Zerath, who was still coiled defensively, froze in shock. He looked at Liora and muttered. “Who… who is this? And why is she helping me?”
