Chapter 229: Two Predators Close In… But They Weren’t Ready for What Came Next!
Deon and Galwin had arrived in front of her. They were smirking as they took off their own clothes.
Deon crouched slightly, tilting his head as he grinned at her. “Look at you, completely helpless. Guess you’re not so tough anymore, huh?”
Galwin clicked his tongue as he was amused. “You know, we were real nice about it before. Tried to do things the easy way. But you? You just had to act all stuck-up.”
Deon let out a chuckle. “Right? Always acting like you’re too good for us.”
Galwin shook his head mockingly. “Tch. Should’ve just played along. Would’ve made things a lot easier for you.”
Deon shrugged. “Well, it doesn’t matter now. You’re all ours tonight.”
Galwin grinned. “Yeah. You’ll learn to be much more obedient after this.”
Loreia’s heart pounded wildly after hearing it. She desperately tried to move, to scream, and to fight back, but her body wouldn’t respond at all.
She could only watch, frozen in place, as they glanced at her, getting closer. “No. No. NO!”
Meanwhile, Loxen was still hidden in the shadows. He was observing the scene.
His target, Loreia, was already in danger but Luna’s orders were clear. Do not act unless absolutely necessary.
Yet, as he watched the two men tear Loreia’s clothes, Loxen knew that they were about to commit something unforgivable.
This was the limit, as he could not let them do it. If he waited even a second longer, Loreia would lose her innocence.
Loxen immediately leapt out from the shadow and appeared before them.
Deon and Galwin were shocked the moment they saw Loxen. They staggered backward, not believing what they saw.
In this world, Shadow Beasts were rare. Big cat beasts like lions, tigers and panthers were also rare.
But the moment they saw one here, they were really shocked. It was beyond that. It was terrifying for them.
Deon stumbled backward, his face pale as he stared at the massive beast before him. “W-what the hell is that?!”
Galwin’s hands trembled, his eyes darting wildly. “T-That’s a Silver Shadow Panther!”
Deon swallowed hard, his voice shaking. “You mean the same kind of beast that’s almost impossible to find?! The ones only high-ranking tamers can control?!”
Galwin nodded frantically. “Yeah! And you know what else? Those things don’t play around! They’re pure killers!”
Deon clenched his fists, trying to steady himself. “Screw that! No way in hell are we fighting that thing!”
Galwin took a step back, nudging Deon. “W-We should run. Right now!”
Deon’s eyes flickered to Loreia, still paralyzed on the ground. “Wait—w-what about her?”
Galwin didn’t even hesitate. “Forget her! If we stay, we’re dead!”
Deon hesitated for only a second before pure fear took over. “Sh*t, you’re right!”
Without another word, both of them turned on their heels and ran, leaving the alley as fast as they could.
They didn’t care about Loreia anymore. They only cared about escaping with their lives.
But Loxen wasn’t going to let them go that easily. Loxen immediately melded into the shadows and began his hunt.
It was night. The alley was filled with shadows, stretching across the walls and ground, making this the perfect hunting ground for Loxen.

Deon and Galwin ran as fast as they could. They panted heavily as their eyes locked onto the alley’s exit.
Deon exhaled in relief as they were almost out. “We’re almost out! We made it—”
Then, their satisfaction turned into pure terror as Loxen emerged suddenly from the shadow, standing directly in front of them.
Galwin stumbled backward. “W-What the—?! H-How is it that fast?!”
Deon gritted his teeth and immediately ordered his beast. “Paracrab, attack!”
The Paracrab moved instantly, its stinger lashing out, aiming to paralyze Loxen but it did nothing and Loxen didn’t even flinch.
Loxen turned to the Paracrab. He raised his paw and slammed it down, crushing the Paracrab and killing it instantly.
Deon gasped. A sharp pain ripped through his chest. He coughed, his mouth filling with blood. His connection to his beast was severed, leaving him weakened.
It was also the moment that Loxen had been waiting for. Without hesitation, Loxen lunged and pierced Deon’s chest with his claw, sinking deep into his flesh.
Deon’s mouth opened, but he can’t scream at all. Then Loxen opened his jaw and put it around Deon’s head.
Loxen smirked as he crushed Deon’s skull with one strong bite, splattering his blood against the alley walls. Deon’s body twitched once before going limp.
Galwin, who had watched everything, staggered backward. His body was shaking in fear. “N-No way… T-This… isn’t real…!”
He immediately turned and tried to run back, but it was a big mistake.
Loxen didn’t chase him. Instead, he simply melded back into the shadow once more.
Galwin sprinted through the alley. His breath was ragged and his legs were burning, but he didn’t care at all. “I-I can make it…! I-I can live…!”
But a shadow suddenly loomed above him. Before Galwin could even look up, something sharp and massive clamped around his throat.
It was a brief flash of pain and nothing afterward. His headless body collapsed onto the ground.
Loxen appeared behind him, throwing the severed head aside. The hunt was over.
—
Loreia was still paralyzed, but more than that, she was really terrified.
The moment Loxen had appeared and chased after Deon and Galwin, she had desperately tried to move.
She struggled. Her mind was screaming at her to run, to get away but her body refused to listen.
Her breath became panicked gasps. She was still trapped inside her own body, but suddenly a shadow appeared before her.
Before she could even process what was happening, Loxen emerged from the shadow, standing right in front of her.
Loreia’s heart nearly stopped. She was really frightened as she glanced at the beast towering over her, with fangs still dripping with fresh blood.
She couldn’t take it anymore. Her fear, her helplessness, the overwhelming panic. All of them crashed down at once.
Her vision blurred and her body went limp. Before she could even comprehend what was happening, she passed out.
