Chapter 323: Three Cages. One Plan.
Lucius and Liora stood side by side, looking at Liline, who was working.
Three massive transparent cages were rising from the ground.
Lucius watched the structure taking shape, then glanced at Liora.
“The Vornis units. How did they perform?”
Liora didn’t hesitate. “Flawless.”
Lucius turned his gaze back to the cages. “Elaborate.”
“They hunted without direction. Scanned targets. Adjusted to non-lethal protocols. Captured nearly three hundred beasts in total.”
Lucius gave a faint nod. “No delays?”
“None. They moved like they were reading my mind.”
Lucius’s eyes narrowed slightly. “They weren’t.”
“I know.” Liora smirked.
“They’re just that efficient.”
Lucius folded his hands behind his back. “Good. They weren’t built for wild capture, but if they’re adapting this well…”
Liora tilted her head slightly. “You’re thinking of mass deployment.”
Lucius didn’t confirm or deny it.
“They also marked each beast with precision,”
Liora continued. “Didn’t miss a single one.”
Lucius glanced at her. “Any malfunctions?”
“Zero.”
He watched as the last piece of the third cage snapped into place with a metallic clang.
“Perfect.”
Liora crossed her arms. “They make live capture feel too easy.”
Lucius smirked. “Exactly how I designed them.”
—
Lucius stood before the three newly constructed cages.
He didn’t look away as he spoke.
“Liora. Show me the beasts.”
Liora smirked. “Sure.”
She raised her hand. “Release them.”

—
The Silphra pack appeared first. They were semitransparent panthers with wind energy.
Next came the Mistvex owls. Their wings were folded tight, and their eyes were scanning the surroundings.
Last were the Velgrith serpents, coiled and calm, cold mist trailing off their scales.
Lucius watched, hands folded behind his back.
“I see… so these are the mist beasts.”
He stepped closer to the glass of the nearest cage.
“They generate fog, vanish into it, use it to disable tracking.”
Luna stepped forward beside him. “And together, they’d be quite troublesome.”
Lucius smirked as he began to scan the three beasts with his system.
“Impressive.”
Loreia leaned in, eyes wide. “Whoa. Those three were very compatible.”
Luna folded her arms. “Mistvex lures. Velgrith disables. Silphra ambushes.”
Lucius gave a small grin. “They were designed by nature to be a set.”
He narrowed his eyes. “Though… a few of them are bruised.”
Liora shrugged. “They’re not exactly durable. Fast and tricky, sure. But if you hit them once…”
Lucius nodded slowly. “I see.”
He turned toward Liline, who stood silently at his side.
“Liline. Heal them. Then send one of each species to my room.”
Liline bowed gently, a faint smile on her face. “Yes, Master. I’ll handle it immediately.”
Loreia raised her eyebrow. “Why your room, though?”
Lucius didn’t look back. “To study them.”
Luna smirked. “You’re thinking of engineering a new trio-type synergy.”
Lucius turned slightly, the corner of his mouth twitching. “You could say it that way.”
Lucius then turned to face all three of them.
“Reminder—tomorrow is the auction.”
He let the words hang a moment.
“Make sure everything is prepared. No delays. No errors.”
Liora responded immediately. “Understood.”
Loreia gave a thumbs-up. “I’ve got my outfit ready, if that counts.”
Lucius glanced at her. “It doesn’t.”
Luna smiled faintly. “I’ll make sure the bidding system is locked in.”
Lucius nodded. “Good. Liora, be ready to demonstrate.”
Liora cracked her knuckles. “I was already planning to.”
Lucius stepped toward the exit. “Then we give them a show they’ll never forget.”
—
Lucius entered his room, the doors sliding shut behind him with a quiet click.
Moments later, Liline appeared beside him.
She phased through the wall, bowing down to him.
“Master.”
Three containment platforms rose from the floor.
Each held a transparent cage. One Mistvex, one Velgrith, and one Silphra.
All of them were resting inside.
“They are the three beasts you requested. One of each.”
Liline continued. “Already subdued. Mild sedatives administered to keep them calm until you begin.”
Lucius approached the cages slowly, hands behind his back.
He looked over each one carefully.
The Mistvex’s feathers twitched slightly in its sleep.
The Velgrith’s coils were still, cold mist slowly leaking from its scales.
The Silphra’s chest rose and fell steadily, claws slightly flexed even while unconscious.
Lucius smirked. “Perfect. Thanks, Liline.”
Liline lowered her head. “Would you like me to remain and assist with the analysis?”
Lucius paused for a moment.
“No. I’ll handle it myself.”
Liline nodded. “Understood. If you require anything, I’ll be nearby.”
She vanished by entering the wall, leaving Lucius alone with the beasts.
He stepped closer to the cages, eyes narrowing.
“Let’s see what kind of hack I should give to you three.”
—
Lucius stood in front of the three sleeping beasts, hands folded behind his back.
Then he remembered something. It was about what Zephyron had said earlier.
“Only someone worthy.”
Lucius narrowed his eyes.
“Worthy, hm…”
He turned slightly, walking slowly.
“That bird wants strength. The one who is worthy to tame it.”
He paused again as he looked back at the forest around Luxoria Castle.”
“The problem is the forest near us only has A-Rank beasts. Even wild tamers with a few B-Ranks could wander in.”
He tapped a finger against his arm.
That’s the reason why he told Liora to catch a lot of beasts from there.
He wanted to make those beasts stronger so they could filter the clients.
But now he had too much idea on how to hack these beasts.
“I have ideas. Too many. None perfect.”
He stayed silent for a long moment.
Then his eyes narrowed again.
“I need something wild. Something they can’t prepare for.”
He turned back to the three beasts again.
His gaze swept over them again.
One of each.
Then he paused.
He remembered the numbers of each beast.
Then the corner of his mouth lifted as he thought of something.
“What if I used that?”
Lucius turned to the beasts again and smirked.
“This will be interesting.”
