Chapter 482: Plasma Hair, Hover Despair
Fiona hovered above the broken ground, her hoverpack sparking with faint cracks.
She looked down at the incoming soldiers.
These ones weren’t like the last.
Their arms were covered in jagged plates, some with spines or gills, others with claws thick as swords.
Their eyes glowed, merging with their beasts.
She frowned, adjusting her headset.
“Chat, looks like they brought the big guns this time.”
—
@TalonStrike: They’re fused?!
@NightByte: Those are the elite soldiers?!
@EdgeHacker: Fiona watch out, those are Vault Beasts!
—
The first soldier stepped forward, his arms bulging with armored plates.
His back erupted with jagged spikes as he swung a massive claw at her.
Fiona ducked, rolling to the side.
Sparks burst where his claws scraped the ground.
Fionyx formed a [Rhythm-Reactive Cannon] on her shoulder.
She fired, but the shot bounced off the armored plating.
She skidded backward, arms out for balance.
“Damn it, chat. They’re tough!”
Another soldier lunged, his chest splitting open with a glowing [Plasma Roar].
A blast of heat surged at her.
She twisted mid-air, the hoverpack thrumming as she tried to dodge.
The blast clipped her shoulder, her battlewear searing.
She winced, her grin faltering. “Okay, that one hurt,” she muttered.
—
@FireLine: FIONA GET OUT OF THERE
@BattleBro: She’s getting roasted out there!

She flipped back, the plasma mic blaster forming in her hand.
She aimed, but the nearest soldier moved fast, his arms turning into [Serrated Blades].
He swung both arms down.
Fiona crossed her blades to block.
Sparks flew as the blades clashed, metal grinding.
Her feet hit the ground, knees bending. She strained, her arms shaking.
“Chat, I might need to switch tactics.”
Fionyx’s energy flickered, forming a [Stage-Defense Shield] around her.
The enemy swung again, cracking the shield.
Fiona rolled left, her hair singed by a plasma burst.
Another soldier stomped forward, his legs fused with beast muscles.
He activated [Titan Pounce], leaping at her with both arms out.
She jumped back, the impact making the ground quake.
Her hoverpack coughed smoke.
She grit her teeth, eyes scanning the battlefield.
“Fionyx, we’re losing some edge here,” she said.
Fionyx’s glow pulsed, forming a [Divine Performance Armament].
The plasma wings spread wide.
“Alright, let’s put on a show.”
She lunged forward, blades flashing.
One soldier with a lizard’s tail swung at her, using [Tail Whip Crush].
It hit her side, sending her skidding across the ground.
She rolled, coming up on one knee.
“Okay, that’s gonna bruise,” she said, coughing.
—
@ChaosByte: She’s getting cornered!
@LightHammer: FIONA GET UP!
@SteelFlame: I CAN’T WATCH THIS!
—
Fiona’s hand pressed to the ground.
Fionyx formed a [Plasma Mic Blaster] in her grip.
She lifted it and fired, the shot hitting one soldier in the chest.
The soldier staggered but didn’t fall. He roared, charging again.
Fiona’s eyes narrowed.
Her ponytail flicked, sweat running down her neck.
She stood slowly, knees bent.
“Fionyx,” she whispered, voice steady.
The air shimmered—a cannon formed on her arm.
She aimed at the center of the squad.
“[Finale Strike],” she said.
The cannon fired, a beam of light cutting through the soldiers.
One dropped, the others staggered.
But the rest came fast, claws and plasma weapons flashing.
Fiona lunged to the side, blades crossing, but one claw caught her shoulder, ripping a gash.
She winced, teeth gritted.
“Chat, this might be my last highlight.”
—
@FireByte: DON’T GIVE UP!
@WingedRider: YOU GOT THIS!
@CorePulse: LUXORIA NEVER FALLS!
—
The operators in the vault cheered, their fists pumping the air.
Screens flickered with images of Fiona, her plasma blades clashing with the fused soldiers.
Sparks flew as her shield cracked again, her hoverpack sputtering smoke.
She stumbled, knees buckling under the strain.
“Look at her now,” one operator said. “She’s falling apart.”
Another operator leaned closer to the screen. “We’re gonna win this one.”
Theron stood in the center of the room, his eyes hard.
His arms crossed over his chest, the beast-scale mantle shifting as he moved.
He watched every movement on the screen.
Fiona’s sweat dripped from her chin, her eyes tired but still locked on her targets.
Theron’s frown deepened.
He tapped one finger on his arm, slow and measured.
“What is happening?” he asked.
An operator blinked. “Sir?”
Theron’s voice rumbled.
“Where are the other fighters? Liora, Luna.”
“This is Luxoria. They never send just one.”
The operator’s fingers hovered over the keyboard. “No sign of them yet.”
Theron turned, eyes sharp as steel.
“Something’s wrong.”
He raised his voice. “Tell the elite soldiers to be wary.”
A message flashed across the command console.
Outside, the fused soldiers readied themselves, their beast limbs twitching, eyes scanning the air.
One soldier adjusted the plates on his arms, claws scraping the ground.
Another shifted, metal tail coiling and uncoiling.
Fiona stood slowly, her body shaking.
She wiped blood from her lip. Her blades flickered in the air.
The closest fused soldier lunged at her, claws forming a [Serrated Crush].
She blocked, but her arms trembled. The soldier roared, pressing her backward.
She strained, legs sliding on the cracked ground.
Theron’s eyes locked on the screen. His jaw tightened.
“Something’s coming,” he said, voice low.
The operators fell silent, eyes wide.
Fiona’s eyes darted to the side, scanning the battlefield.
“Come on, Luxoria,” she whispered. “Where’s my backup?”
A pulse of energy flickered in the air, but nothing appeared yet.
The soldiers closed in around her, claws gleaming, eyes bright with bloodlust.
Theron’s fingers tapped faster.
“Stay sharp,” he said. “They’re planning something.”
The battle was far from over.
—
Fiona knelt on the cracked ground, one hand pressed to her bleeding shoulder.
She winced but kept her grin.
She closed her eyes briefly, Fionyx’s glow flickering around her.
The energy seeped into her skin, slowly sealing the wound.
She let out a shaky breath, her legs steadying.
She looked up, eyes half-lidded, and dropped her voice to a soft tone.
“Chat, it seems this might be my last highlight,” she said, trembling.
“So please, fans, cheer me up.”
She dramatically lifted her plasma mic blaster, the glow dancing along the barrel.
“Maybe I can get a superpower,” she said, laughter forced but bright.
“Like those story main characters.”
—
@ByteSpark: We’re here for you!
@LightWing: You can do it!
@FireZone: This is your moment, Fiona!
—
She leaned on her hoverpack, legs shaking, eyes on the soldiers closing in.
Her plasma mic blaster glowed bright.
