Chapter 50: Lava Tortoise vs Gale Wolf (1)
Dreston looked at Magnus and smirked as he began first. He commanded his beast, “Gale Wolf, use Zephyr Howl! and attack with your claws!”

The Gale Wolf soon let out a piercing howl. The wind began to swirl around its body, enhancing its agility and making it faster and sharper the moment it moved.

The Gale Wolf then ran straight to the Lava Tortoise, its claws already extended and bared for its use against it.

Magnus didn’t flinch. Instead, he smirked and looked back at Dreston, “Impressive. But speed alone isn’t enough, Dreston.”

Magnus then raised his hand and pointed at his beast while commanding, “Lava Tortoise, use Molten Shell!”

The Lava Tortoise immediately retracted its whole body into its shell as molten energy began to flow around his shell and hardened into a hot armor.

Dreston only smirked after seeing it: “A fancy trick but useless. Speed always wins the battles.”

Magnus only laughed hard as he folded his arms. “We will see about that.”

The Gale Wolf then lunged its claws at the Lava Tortoise and suddenly, as it struck it, a loud clang echoed through the arena as the wolf’s attack barely left a scratch.

Dreston, who heard it, frowned but his confidence was still high. “Keep attacking it. I am sure the shell will break soon.”

The Gale Wolf soon unleashed a flurry of strikes. Its claws were raking and its teeth were also biting the tortoise’s hardened shell but none of them managed to inflict some damage.

To make it even worse, the heat that radiated from the shell began to burn the wolf’s paws and also his mouth, damaging it after each strike.

Magnus, who saw the pathetic condition of Gale Wolf, began to laugh out loud, “Haveing trouble, Dreston? Looks like your speed isn’t helping much.”

Dreston didn’t waver and immediately commanded his beast again, “Let’s see how you handle this. Gale Wolf, fall back! Use Wind Slash!”

The Gale Wolf soon ran back, distancing itself from the Lava Tortoise. It also swiped its claws, generating some sharp wind currents toward the Lava Tortoise.

The numerous sharp wind currents soon struck the Lava Tortoise’s shell with precision, but Magnus didn’t seem too concerned, and this made the crowd surprised.

Magnus only smirked as he said, “So you want to play a range battle, huh? Then, let’s make this more interesting, shall we?”

He then looked at his beast and shouted out loud, “Lava Tortoise, let’s change the arena. Use Flame Aura, and charge!”

The Lava Tortoise soon emitted a powerful flame aura as its molten shell began to glow even redder than before.

The spectators and also Dreston were shocked as they saw what the Lava Tortoise did next was running but its speed was not slow, but instead it was quite fast.

Dreston was so shocked that he shouted out loud, “What the hell is this? How can a tortoise run and also, it is fast?”

Magnus only laughed out loud as he mocked Dreston, “Surprised, Dreston? My Lava Tortoise isn’t like the sluggish beasts you’re used to. It’s faster than it looks!”

The Lava Tortoise’s speed wasn’t on par with the Gale Wolf’s, but it was remarkably quick for a beast of its size and type.

More importantly, as it ran, the heat of its flaming shell spread across the arena, making the air even hotter and heavier than normal.

The Gale Wolf was immediately affected by the change as its movement began to become a bit more sluggish and its breathing became heavier.

Dreston was now frowning, seeing what happened to the Gale Wolf. “What’s going on? Why is the arena so hot?”

Magnus, who saw what Dreston was saying, only smirked and mocked him, “What’s the matter, Dreston? Aren’t you supposed to be smart?”

Dreston, who heard it, immediately clenched his jaw as Magnus pointed his Lava Tortoise. “My Lava Tortoise’s Flame Aura isn’t just for show, as it is hot enough to even change the battle field.”

Magnus then grinned as he now pointed at the Gale Wolf, “The longer we fight, the worse it gets for your fragile little wolf. You better be serious or else.”

Dreston, who heard what Magnus was saying, became even angrier as he was now underestimated. “You, Bastard!”

Magnus only laughed after being called bastard by Dreston, “What’s wrong, Dreston? I thought you were going to teach me a lesson. Don’t tell me you’re already running out of tricks.”

Magnus then raised and shook his hand. “But don’t you worry, my dear friend. This isn’t over yet. Lava Tortoise, use Lava Spit!” Magnus commanded.

The Lava Tortoise raised its head and opened its mouth. Its shell began to glow red as it immediately unleashed a stream of molten lava toward the Gale Wolf.

Dreston, who looked, immediately became panicky as he commanded, “Gale Wolf, use Gale Dash to avoid all of that lava.”

The Gale Wolf soon wrapped its body with wind, forming a protective barrier against the heat. It also ran faster as it avoided all lava effortlessly.

Magnus watched the speed of Gale Wolf and smirked, “Not too bad, for a little wolf.” He said it loud enough for Dreston to hear.

Dreston, who heard it, immediately snapped. “Don’t think we are done here! Gale Wolf, while you’re moving, use Wind Slash!” he commanded.

The Gale Wolf swiped its claws in rapid succession, releasing sharp wind currents as it moved around the Lava Tortoise.

The wind blades struck the molten shell with loud voices but as everyone expected, the Lava Tortoise stood unscathed. Its molten shell was too hard for the Gale Wolf to damage at all.

Magnus laughed out loud again, “Is that it, Dreston? It looks like your wolf has plenty of speed but no real power behind those attacks. You’re not going to win like this.”

Dreston bit his lips as he heard Magnus’ words. “Damn it, Magnus! I will show you just how powerful I am!” Dreston cursed.
