Chapter 80: From Market Deals to Mercenary Bloodshed
Liora and Luna had just arrived at the market. They then began to walk around to find a good place where they could buy the things they needed and sell the beast rings and the special beasts.
Even though Luna was once a Garran, no one in the market knew her, as the young heirs of Garran rarely venture outside the estate so no one in the market recognized who Luna was.
The two quickly found a large building that appeared to be the best in beast trading. The two also went to the receptionist and fortunately, it was a manager, although she was a bit suspicious of Luna and Liora.
However, when Luna placed the five beast rings on her counter and scanned them using their beast scanner, the manager was taken aback.
The scanner showed her that the beasts were 1-Star beasts and their stats were top-notch. Not only that, they were elementless, making them highly adaptable and easier to tame for novice tamers—a rarity in the market.
The manager looked at both of the girls and excitedly said, “These are some really incredible beasts. How could these elementless 1-Star beasts possess such advanced stats? Where did you get these?”
Luna only smirked and said, “Where we got them isn’t your concern, but the price that you will pay for these beasts. They are after all better than the things that you sell here.”
The manager nodded and her gaze turned back and forward between the beasts and Luna. “Y-yes, of course. These could sell for a lot! I—uh—how much are you asking?”
Liora stepped forward and glanced at the manager, trying to threaten her. “Don’t try to cheat us. Offer a fair price, or we’ll take our business elsewhere.”
The manager paled and nodded quickly as she took out a calculator. “O-Of course! We will pay what they’re worth. Just give me a moment to calculate.”
Liora, who stood at her side, was crossing her arms as she growled at her. “Hurry up, will you? We don’t have all day to wait for you.”
The manager nodded quickly as she calculated the price for these beasts while avoiding Liora’s eyes. Moments later, she looked up and showed Luna her price. “This is the best price I can offer for these beasts.”
Luna looked at the number on the calculator and nodded as she was satisfied with it. She also gave her a paper: “These are the things that I need. Prepare them immediately and they will be paid with that money.”
The manager glanced at the list and immediately bowed, “Right away!” She then immediately told her staff to help her prepare the items.
Liora then stepped close to Luna. “She’s scared, but her greed outweighs her fear.” Luna only smirked after hearing Liora “Fear is a useful motivator, but money speaks louder. She knows this deal will make her a fortune.”
A short while later, the manager returned with the items that Lucius had wanted from the lists. She placed them carefully on the counter.
She then looked at Luna, avoiding Liora, and said, “Here’s everything you requested. Please check all of them and thank you for your business.”
Luna inspected the items to see if they were good and was satisfied after checking them all. She then put the items on her spatial ring and said, “We will be taking these now; good bye.”
The manager hesitated for a moment but still bowed down and forced her face to smile. “Thank you for your patronage. I look forward to doing business with you again.”
The two women ignored the manager and left the building, finishing the mission Lucius had given them. They were now smiling as they were expecting some praise from their master.
—
Liora and Luna had left the market, but Liora soon noticed that there were some people that began to follow them the moment they left the market.
Liora looked at Luna and with their bond as a tamed beast and a tamer, Liora began to talk to her telepathically. “Luna, we’re being followed.”
Luna was a bit surprised after being told by Liora. She then looked around but could not see any of them, making her ask Liora back, “How many?”
Liora began to slowly look around and turned back to Luna. “There were five people. Two tamers and three beastmen. They were not assassins, seeing them being so sloppy.”
Luna smirked after hearing the numbers of the people. “I see. There were not a lot of them. Let’s play along and lead them somewhere quiet.”
Without a word, Liora began to slowly change her movements. Luna also followed suit and both of them were calm as if nothing were amiss.
They navigated through a series of alleys before arriving at a deserted alley, a dead end filled with numerous trash items.
Liora and Luna then stopped and turned around to face the alley entrance where they had been waiting for the ones who had been following them.
Liora then stepped forward and shouted out loud, “You can stop hiding like rats. We know you are following us, so show yourselves.”

5 people suddenly came out and smirked as they walked to Liora and Luna. Two of them were tamers and the other three were beastmen.
One of the tamers, grinned as he stepped forward and mocked, “Look what we’ve got here. Two little birds that wandered away from their flock.”
The beastmen chuckled and one of them smirked and said, “To think that you’d make it so easy for us. Saves us the trouble of tracking you down.”
Liora glanced at them coldly and asked, “It seems that you know who we are, so I want to ask you, Who the hell are you and why are you following us?”
The tamer smirked and said, “Everyone in this city knows you now. You’ve been made into wanted people. There’s a fat bounty on your heads, and we’re here to collect.”
Liora immediately knew what they were talking about and clenched her fists. “Master was right. The mission was tampered with. And now it seems the Garrans have joined in.”
Luna, who had been silent, murmured, “The Garrans, not only weren’t satisfied with casting me aside, but now they want me dead.”
She then clenched her fists and frowned. “They were really a bastard family and cannot be forgiven for trying to aim for master’s life.”
She then turned to Liora and said in anger. “Kill them all. Don’t leave a single one alive and make sure to inflict the most pain to them.”
Liora smirked after hearing it. “Of course. It’s what I do best,” Liora said while baring her claws, preparing to torture these worthless mercenaries.
