Chapter 86: Lucius Faces the Deadly Shadow Corps
Lucius looked at the two assassins and smirked. “So, 03 and 04, huh? What a really strange name that you guys have, but judging from those numbers, you must be part of some shadow corps of some family.”

The two assassins suddenly stiffened after hearing it. They immediately changed their stances and gripped their weapons tighter than before.

Lucius then smirked and said, “Seeing that you want to kill me, can I assume that both of you are the shadow corps of the Kryndal family, aren’t you?”

The assassins exchanged a brief glance and their masks were hiding their expression, but Lucius knew that they were a bit panicking inside as Lucius knew who they were.

Liora immediately growled the moment she heard the Kryndals. She crouched down and flexed her claws as she was ready to strike. “Those worms think they can send assassins to take you down, Master? Pathetic.”

Beside her, Luna also stepped forward and drew her twin daggers. “Let me handle them. “I’ll carve the truth out of them myself.”

Lucius raised his hand, stopping Luna. He then glanced at Luna and said firmly. “No, you’re cunning, Luna, but this fight is beyond your strength. Stay back and observe.”

Luna hesitated for a moment before nodding reluctantly as she stepped back, still gripping her daggers tightly. “As you wish, Master.”

Lucius returned his attention to the assassins and smirked. “Well? Are we going to play this game in silence, or do you have something to say for yourselves?”

The assassins didn’t answer. Instead, they surprised everyone by sheathing their daggers and Liora felt something bad was about to happen, so she changed her stance into a battle one.

Suddenly, both of the assassins began to raise their right hands and their arms began to twist and transform into something else.

The transformation was swift but grotesque, their fingers elongating into razor-sharp sickle-like claws.

In that moment, a surge of new information flooded Lucius’ mind. He also saw that a new screen appeared that provided a detailed explanation about what just happened.

Lucius pointed at their limbs that looked quite grotesque, which made Lucius frown a bit and want to vomit. “I meant, can’t you get a better one like a wolf claw or something? It looks more pleasing to the eye.”

The two assassins didn’t talk at all, but they were even more tense as they seemed to be quite angry with Lucius. Lucius ignored them and began to scan what changed in their data.

Luicus immediately noted the key difference of their fusion: 03 had enhanced their strength, while 04 had opted for agility, but still they were still low level so only one limb and one stat were transformed.

Lucius smirked and was amused, as he already knew that they were planning. The assassins then began to change their stances, as they were already preparing to strike.

Liora looked at their new claws. She then flexed her claws and bared her teeth as she smirked. “They’re enhancing themselves with their beasts, huh? How cute. Do you think that will make you a match for me?”

Liora then crouched down to tense her muscles as she prepared to strike. She also mocked them, “Show me what you’ve got. Or are you afraid to take me head-on?”

The assassins remained silent, but they suddenly blended into the darkness and began to attack. They moved silently as they attacked, one aiming to intercept Liora while the other went toward Lucius.

Liora could still see them and was targeting 04, but before she could reach her, 03 stepped into her path and swept upward with his sicklearm.

Liora was pushed back by him but she didn’t frown. Instead, she smirked even more. “Not bad, but you’ll need more than that to stop me.”

03 didn’t respond as he held his ground. Meanwhile, 04 slipped around the clash and with her speed, she rushed toward Lucius in an instant.

Luna, standing a few steps behind Lucius, caught the movement out of the corner of her eye. She realized 04’s intent and without hesitation, she stepped forward, gripping her daggers as she prepared to intercept her.

“Master!” Luna shouted urgently, but even as she moved, she knew that she wouldn’t make it in time as 04 was too fast for her.

In a heartbeat, 04 was in front of Lucius, her sickle arm raised and was ready to strike. 04 then used her sickle arm and slashed directly at Lucius’ neck.

Lucius didn’t flinch at all and he continued to smirk while watching 04, who was ready to kill him. As the assassin’s sickle-arm closed in, Lucius laughed and said, “You don’t think I’d leave myself so defenseless, do you?”

The sickle arm didn’t manage to behead Lucius. It stopped abruptly as it collided with Lucius’ neck. 04 was confused and shocked, as how could this be happening to her? Was her blade too weak or was Lucius too weird?

Lucius tilted his head and smirked when he saw the surprised 04: “Are you surprised? Did you really think I’d be so careless as to leave myself vulnerable?” Lucius mocked while raising his hand to clean his neck.
