Chapter 90: Turning Foes Into Tools
Lucius looked at the blank-faced assassins, 03 and 04. He smirked as he thought about the kind of missions that he gave to them.
Lucius immediately ordered, “You will infiltrate the Kryndal gathering and eliminate every 1-Star to 3-Star Evolist you encounter. Leave no survivors.”
He took a step closer and smirked. “And ten minutes before your hypnosis ends, you will kill yourselves. If you are captured, you’ll do the same. I don’t want a single word of this operation traceable back to me.”
As Lucius spoke, Liora folded her arms. Though she trusted her master, she was still curious about Lucius’ plan, as she thought it was a bit weird.
She stepped forward and asked, “Master, why did you focus on the lower-ranked Evolists? Won’t it be more effective to target their higher-ranked Evolists instead?”
Lucius didn’t immediately respond, but before he could, Luna stepped forward and turned to Liora as she smirked.
She then answered, “Liora, don’t you see Master’s true intent? He’s not just targeting individuals—he’s dismantling the Kryndals’ foundation.”
Liora raised her eyebrow as she was a bit curious about what Luna was talking about. So she simply asked Luna to explain to her.
Luna chuckled and pointed to 03 and 04 and said, “Think about it. These two assassins are only 4-Star Tamers. If Master sent them after the higher-ranked Kryndals, they could only kill two or three before they were finished.”
She tilted her head and smirked. “But targeting the 1-Star to 3-Star Evolists? That’s an entirely different story. They’re weaker, easier to kill, and far more numerous.”
Luna then coldly continued, “The majority of tamers in any organization fall within those lower ranks. By wiping them out, Master isn’t just causing casualties—he’s crippling their foundation.”
Luna explained why their foundation was crippled. “With no low-rank Evolists to handle the weaker beasts, the higher-ranked ones will have to step in. And those arrogant elites? They’re not accustomed to dealing with such tasks.”
She smirked as she said, “They’ll hate it. Their entire structure will crumble, and it’ll take them months—if not years—to rebuild.”
Lucius chuckled after hearing Luna’s explanation. He turned to Liora and said, “Exactly. The Kryndals think they’re untouchable, but every empire begins to crumble when its foundation is destroyed.”
Lucius then raised his hand and said, “By eliminating their lower ranks, I force them into chaos. Their resources will be depleted, their trust will deteriorate, and their arrogance will ultimately lead to their downfall.”
Liora was surprised by Lucius’ plan and admired him so much. He then said pridefully, “What a brilliant plan, Master. You’re not just defeating them—you’re dismantling their entire way of life.”
Lucius nodded his head and smirked. “Precisely. Let them scramble. Let them choke on their own desperation. By the time they realize what’s happening, it’ll already be too late.”
Lucius turned back to 03 and 04. “Your orders are clear. Eliminate the targets. Leave no trace. And when your time is up—end yourselves.”
The hypnotized assassins nodded stiffly, their blank eyes unblinking as they absorbed the command. Without another word, they turned and began walking into the forest, their movements stiff but purposeful.
Liora watched the assassins disappear into the shadows and turned to Lucius. “Master, your strategy is flawless. The Kryndals won’t even see it coming.”
Luna smirked as she added more, “And when they do, they’ll be too busy dealing with the aftermath and could not take revenge at all. It’s perfect.”
Lucius chuckled as he said, “The Kryndals wanted to play games. Let them learn the price of crossing me.” With that, Lucius and his maids began to leave the wind valley for their next mission.
—
The mercenary boss had appeared near the entrance to Wind Valley. He was accompanied by his ragged band of followers. He also looked around to find the culprits that had killed his minions.
The group halted when they spotted three figures emerging from the dense forest. The mercenaries stiffened, gripping their weapons tightly as their eyes fell on the trio of Lucius, Liora and Luna.
The boss got off his wolf and stepped forward, just mere feet away from Lucius as he growled. “You three… Are you Lucius, Liora, and Luna?”
Lucius didn’t move as he smirked and mocked the mercenary boss. “And what if we are? What will you do, huh, the one that I don’t know of?”
The boss became angry as he shouted, “I’m the boss of the mercenaries you butchered in the city yesterday! Your girls slaughtered my men—good, loyal men—and now you’re going to pay.”
Lucius chuckled as he disdainfully said. “Ah, so you’re the one responsible for sending that pathetic bunch.”
He turned to Liora and Luna and smirked. “I must commend you both. It seems you’ve done me a favor by cleaning up the trash.”

Liora stepped forward while flexing her claws. She then said coldly, “They weren’t even worth the effort. Pathetic fools who thought they could challenge us. It’s almost embarrassing to call them your men.”
Luna leaned lazily against a nearby tree and spoke maliciously. “Your ‘loyal men’ were nothing more than greedy fools looking for easy money, but I suppose greed often leads to poor decisions. Like confronting us.”
The mercenary boss let out a furious roar; his knuckles turned white as he clenched them tightly. “You arrogant bastards! I’ll make you regret killing my men—and I’ll enjoy collecting your bounty when I’m done!
The mercenaries behind him were also getting ready. They were going to avenge their friends and collect some money along the way.
Lucius remained clam as he raised his hand to silence Liora and Luna. He then glanced at Liora and said, “Liora, handle the boss. Show him why he shouldn’t have crossed me.”
He then turned to Luna and threw her a pair of daggers and said, “Luna, take care of the rest. Make it quick—or make it painful. I leave that to your discretion.”
Liora smirked as she stepped forward while she cracked her neck and flexed her claws. “Yes, Master. I will let them know who they are dealing with.”
Luna received the pair of daggers and smirked as she spun her daggers expertly. “Oh, this will be fun. Let me test these new daggers and see how long they last under the weak me.”
The mercenary boss immediately ordered his beast to attack Liora, while his minions summoned their beasts and attacked Luna and Lucius.
