Chapter 117: Chapter 117 Chapter 117: Chapter 117 “Welcome back, Grandpa; how do you feel?” Carla stood from her chair and went to Mr.
Dee.
She saw that Ariel was trying to hide her test results so she wanted to help her keep the old man distracted.
“I feel numb, Doctor, but the doctor said I’d feel better soon, so I’m okay, no more pain,” Mr.
Dee replied.
“Hi, Grandpa, I’m happy you’re okay, don’t worry, just like the doctor said, the numbness will go away soon,” Ariek stood and walked over to her grandpa.
She gave Carla an appreciating look for helping g her stop Mr.
Dee from seeing, she wanted Aiden to know first before she told anyone else about it.
“Alright, alright, bye, Doctor.
We’ll be taking our leave now,” Mr.
Dee waved to Carla.
“Take care, Grandpa, see you next time,” Carla waved.
Ariel smiled at her before she held Mr.
Dee’s hand and led him out of the office.
Inside the elevator, Ariel was shifting her weight from one foot to the other, thinking about how to tell Mr.
Dee that she didn’t want him to drive her home.
She wanted to go alone so that she would be able to tell Aiden about the news; she knew there was no way Mr.
Dee would take her home and not request to go in with her.
Mr.
Dee looked at her with a raised brow, “Something bothering you?” Ariel slowly nodded her head, “Um, I can go home alone.
I don’t want you to drive me home, after all.
You need to rest after seeing the doctor and-” “You don’t have to make excuses, dear; I can see it in your eyes; you’re hiding something from me, but it’s okay; you deserve your privacy with your husband,” He chuckled.
Ariel blushed.
“I’m sorry, Grandpa; I’ll bring you back home with me sometime,” She apologized.
Mr.
Dee shook his head, “It’s okay,” He gently touched her hand.
They walked out of the hospital, and Ariel stood aside, watching Mr.
Dee enter his car; she waved at him as the car started to drive away from the hospital’s gate.
When she couldn’t see the car anymore, she sighed and started walking down the street.
She started to question her decision to go home alone; she had forgotten that Aiden’s hospital wasn’t a place everyone passed by; it was only for the high-class society who only came here with their drivers; no common driver would ever venture to this location.

She looked ahead the street and saw that she still had a long walk before she reached where she could even think of hailing a cab.
However, Ariel hadn’t walked very far from the hospital when she miraculously saw a cab driving toward her.
She was too excited to find one, and she couldn’t wait to get home to Aiden and tell him the good news.
She flagged down the cab, and it quickly entered as it stopped being her.
She looked soon at her phone to give the driver her address, but the driver already asked for it.
“Where to ma’am?” The young man asked.
She quickly found her address and raised her head to the driver, “Take to…” Ariel never got to finish her words as drowsiness overtook her and made her slump back against the chair.
The last thing Ariel heard was the faint voice of the driver telling someone that bothered her.
This was just a restart of her life; it seems kidnapping was a means of transporting her to a different life.
Who was it this time?
What did they want from her this time?
Would Aiden even know she was gone?
Would he search for her?
Will they ever meet again?
The last thought on his mind was protecting her baby.
She was ready to do anything to keep that little miracle safe.
*** Aiden was getting anxious as he walked back and forth in his living room.
It was past midnight, and he’d been calling Ariel’s phone, but it was switched off.
He was extremely restless and worried.
He thought of calling Mr.
Dee but decided against it.
It wouldn’t sound nice calling her grandpa and telling him that he didn’t know where his granddaughter was.
He knew Ariel had visited Mr.
Dee but he didn’t know if she went anywhere after she visited him.
“Aiden…” Moon called from behind him, slowly walking toward him.
She had come out of the guest room Aiden had given her; he was letting her stay only for the night because he was hoping Ariel would return, and he would tell her that Moon had decided to travel out of the country to give everyone the space to heal, including herself.
But his plans were not working as he thought.
He slowly turned to Moon and said, “You can go to sleep, Moon, I’ll keep calling her,” He sighed and walked past her.
However, Moon caught his arm when he was about to walk passed her.
“You don’t have to worry, Aiden, she’s probably just somewhere safe.
Maybe she hates me so much that she didn’t want to come back to the same house I was staying; I’m sorry, maybe I should have just left,” Moon sounded so remorseful.
Aiden shook his head, gently patting her hand, “It’s okay, Moon, this is not your fault; I’ve already sent a search party to look for her; I know they’d find her before morning.
Just, she’s never done this before; she normally lets Jess tell me if she was…wait, Jess…” He moved away from Moon and immediately dialed Jess’ number.
Why hadn’t he thought about her earlier?
Moon might be right, Ariel would have just been angry about Moon’s presence and decided to leave the house.
Moon stood beside him, smiling evilly; she knew just what happened to Ariel; her poor brother would learn to live with the truth.
But, she was angry too.
Aiden was really stubborn, during the day, she had really tried her best to make him not think of Ariel, she was scared he might even decide to go pick her up from where she had gone, which would have made her plan fail, but somehow she had managed to keep him home, but it didn’t stop him from talking about her.
She didn’t care anymore; she wasn’t going to lose her cool just because Aiden was head over heels for Ariel; it was just a matter of time until Ariel would be out of the picture permanently.
Jess answered the phone, “Hello?” She sounded sad but that wasn’t what Aiden would concern himself with at the moment.
“Jessica, you’re really good at hiding my wife,” Aiden accused.
“What are you talking about, Aiden?” Jess asked.
Aiden frowned, “Is Ariel not with you?” Jess could be heard sighing through the phone, “No, Aiden.
She’s not here.
Wait!
Is Ariel missing?
It’s her!
It’s Moon, she must have done something to her-” “Mind your words, Jess; you can be sure of false allegations,” Moon spoke beside Aiden.
“I know how you are, Moon, you can be very scheming and-” “Stop it, both of you!” Aiden shouted.
“Jess, Moon has been beside me the whole day, and I believe that Ariel is just somewhere, probably upset about Moon.
Do not tell anyone anything until morning, especially Grandma, understood?” He asked.
“Yes, goodnight,” Jess replied and ended the call.
Aiden sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.
He was frustrated.
“I didn’t do anything, Aiden; Jess was just trying to frame me,” Moon came and stood in front of him, putting his lips and blinking cutely.
“Just go to bed, Moon; tomorrow, you’ll go back to your house,” Aiden replied and started climbing up the stairs.
However, Moon followed him, “Then let me walk you up to your room; I just eat you to know that you’re not alone,” She suggested softly.
Aiden didn’t reply to her, he just kept climbing the stairs, his heart getting heavier with each step he took.
He was feeling empty; he never liked it each time Ariel left his side; she had become a part of his life; starting a day or ending it without her was like living in a colorless world; everything was in grey and white.
Dull and lifeless.
He reached the front of his door and realized that Moon was still following him behind.
He paused and faced her.
“Thank you for your company, Moon; you can go down to your room now; let’s call it a night,” He said tiredly.
Moon smiled, “I…I’m just sad to see you this way, Aiden.
I know how much you love Ariel, and her absence is really taking a toll on you.
Maybe I should just sit behind you until you fall asleep; I can’t leave you this way…” She stepped forward and held his hand.
Aiden removed his hand immediately, “No.
Go down to your room, Moon.
Goodnight.” He replied sternly and turned to walk into his room.
“Ugh!” Aiden grunted as he felt a needle prick on the side of his neck.
Everything turned hazy instantly; he could feel his body falling to the floor, but he couldn’t control it anymore.
Darkness was the next thing he saw, total, encompassing darkness.
“Damn!” Moon groaned, and she caught Aiden’s falling body; he was way bigger than her, so it was tough for her to hold him up.
She grunted as she dragged him to his room, gritting her teeth as she threw him on the bed.
She blew out a harsh breath, wiping her sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand.
“It had to get to this, Aiden.
It’s all your fault; if only you chose me in the first place, we wouldn’t be going through this hassle,” She smirked as she took out the syringe from the side of his neck.
