Chapter 122: Chapter 122 Chapter 122: Chapter 122 “She’s got a pulse!” A Diver shouted from below a huge ship.
A crew member first threw down a life ring to the diver to put around the person he had saved.
“Throw down the rescue boat,” The captain ordered.
They were surprised to see the diver place a young woman in the boat, they couldn’t imagine how she ended up in the middle of the ocean, but when they saw the blood dripping from her sides, they knew that this was probably a murder case.
“Pull her up,” The captain commanded.
“Behind you!” A crew member shouted and flashed his very bright and high-intensity LED flashlight a distance away from the rescue boat.
The diver looked behind him and indeed, he saw something flailing the arms in a weak attempt to stay afloat.
He immediately swam toward the person and gently approached her and wrapped his around her middle, then he carefully swam back toward the rescue boat with her.
She coughed hard in his arms, and he could feel the wheezing through her diaphragm; the diver knew that if he hadn’t saved her on time, she would have died the next second.
He placed her beside the other person he had earlier saved and the boat was pulled up while the diver lined up through the ladder.
The moment the recurrent boat was brought into the ship, the chief medical officer was already there, waiting to see and treat the victims.
The chief medical officer stared at them and shook his head.
“This one can be treated right here, she’s just got a little graze to her neck, but this one, I can only stop her bleeding and we’d have to take her to the hospital for emergency surgery, she had a bullet logged in her chest,” The chief medical officer explained already getting ready to treat the second victim who was now getting unconscious from tiredness and loss of blood.
“Then treat them, we’ll get to the hospital soon,” the captain instructed and walked away.
*** Three years later…
A woman sat on the deck of a sailing ship, her head was lowered on her computer as the wind blew her hair around, but she didn’t care; she was very concentrated on what she was doing.
She was so concentrated that she missed hearing the sound of the faint footsteps coming up behind her, or so the attacker thought.
“I’m working, guys, go play somewhere else,” She said without lifting her face from the computer.
“You see, JJ, I told she would know,” A voice of an elderly man said behind the woman.
“Well, let’s go play with Bison and Jane,” A toddler said in a small voice.
The woman sighed when she heard the toddler’s voice, she gently placed her laptop down and stood, turning to face her supposed attackers.
“Come here, you little vixen, you know I’d never be busy for you,” She chuckled and carried the little toddler from the older man.
“Mummy!” The toddler hugged the woman’s neck and giggled loudly.
The woman laughed and tried to pull the child away, but the arms around her neck were too strong and tight to pull.
Who’s daughter’s toddlers weren’t strong?
Those minions were the strongest species on earth.
“Okay, okay, I give up, Jace, I’ll go play with you,” She laughed.
The elderly man stood aside and watched the mother and son with a smile.
It had been three years since he rescued the young woman from the ocean.
Everyone believed she wouldn’t survive, even the doctor, and she said she only had a tory percent chance of survival when she was about to get surgery to take out the bullet finger chest.

It had unfortunately reached her heart, but she was just saved.
It didn’t pierce through; only the head of the bullet had pierced a very small part of her heart, but it was still dangerous.
He had made sure she got all the medical treatment she needed; for some reason, he wanted her to survive.
He felt like he should be responsible for her, and that was why he made sure to take care of her from then till now.
It was a surprise and a delight to find out that she was pregnant; the urge to protect both her and her child was too high, so he decided to ask the young woman if he could adopt her and the child; he wanted to be the child’s grandfather.
So far, he’s been a proud father and a grandfather.
He supported the young woman in every bit of her dreams and today, she was the owner of a big IT company in the States, he had been the one who oversaw the physical construction of the company and even though she’d never been to her company, she made sure everything went smoothly through online meetings and organizations.
She had decided to follow him through his sea travels, seeing different parts of the world and giving Jace the best experience growing up.
She hadn’t told him her story, but he wasn’t in a hurry, and he didn’t care about her past, as long as she was happy and healthy, there was nothing else to worry about.
The elderly man went forward, still wearing his big smile; he placed a gentle hand on the young woman’s back and said, “Come on, let’s go eat breakfast.
The chef’s made your favorite today, Ariel,” Ariel kissed her son’s cheek and whispered, “Did you hear that, Jasper?
The Chef made our favorite,” She smiled.
Jace widened his eyes in anticipation, “Let’s go eat, Mummy!” He pointed into the ship, toward the outdoor eating area.
Ariel chuckled and nodded at the man beside her.
“You coming, Dad?” She asked as she started to walk toward the outdoor eating area.
The man nodded and followed suit.
“You sit right here,” Ariel gently placed Jace down on the chair and then sat beside him.
“Bon appétit, madame,” the chef placed the dish in front of them and stood aside in case they needed his assistance.
The elderly man sat beside the boy and started to dish out the food on his plate.
“No, Grandpa will feed me,” Jace shook his head when Arowl wanted to feed him.
She smiled and shared a knowing look at the man.
“Fine, let him,” She nodded and handed the fork to the man.
The sea wind was mild that morning as the sun showed down on their cruise ship, making the polished floor of the deck glitter as the Sundays bounced around it.
Ariel ate silently and watched as her son ate from the man she had now taken as her father.
Mr.
Sloan was the father she never had.
He made her feel the best she’s ever felt.
After he saved her three years ago, he made her understand that there were still humans who could be genuine and kind.
He trusted him because their relationship wasn’t a romantic one; she wasn’t scared of being cheated on or not being loved.
He had never asked her once about what happened that brought her to the dark oceans and she was grateful to him for that.
Her son too, was the best thing that had ever happened to her.
It felt like he was the one thing that was missing in her life, and now that she had him, she felt so complete and happy.
He was her life, literally.
He was the reason she pushed on, the reason she made all the establishments she made, and she was grateful to Mr.
Loan for making her dreams come true.
If not for him, she would never have achieved any of the things she has today.
“Eat, Ariel.
You know I don’t like it when you get lost in your thoughts,” Mr.
Loan softly reminded me.
Ariel sighed and smiled, “I’m sorry, I’m just thinking of how grateful I am to you, I owe you my life,” She snuffed, holding back her tears.
The last thing she remembered was being shot by Hugo; the next thing she remembered was complete darkness and death.
The story of how she was saved by a random diver had been retold many times, and she couldn’t help but imagine how deadly the situation was each time she heard the story.
“Don’t sound like that, it means you don’t accept me as a father.
If you do, you’d know that a father would do anything for his child,” Mr.
Sloan replied softly.
“Thank you, Dad, you know I do take you as a father.
You’re the father I never had.
I’d chose you over and over again,” She held his hand on top of the table.
Mr.
Sloan smiled and nodded.
“Eat now; I want you to always be healthy,” He said.
After their breakfast, Ariel played around with her son; she was super glad he looked like her; he was her spitting image; it saved her the agony of having to live through the pain of staring at someone who looked exactly like the man who had broken her heart.
She no longer cared about him.
She wasn’t going to deny that he didn’t pop into her mind every now and then, but each time it was less painful than the last; what was left was determination never to let anyone hurt her again.
No man was ever get her love and she didn’t need theirs.
She no longer categorized all men as the same because she had learned that everyone was different; she knew there were good men out there.
But she wasn’t going to risk going through what she’d been through just so she could find the right person.
She didn’t need any man to make her feel right or loved.
She loved herself enough, and she was the right person for herself.
Her son was already more than enough for her.
Jace was the right man for her.
“Sir, the engineer said the signal is wavering; he needs you on the Bridge,” A young woman dressed in black pants and a blue shirt quietly informed Mr.
Sloan.
Mr.
Sloan turned to her and replied, “Alright, Eva, thank you.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Rosegold_n Do Recommend this book to your friends…and enemies too 😉
