Chapter 128: Chapter 128 Chapter 128: Chapter 128 Aiden sat in his room, alone.
He stared up at the clock, it was past midnight.
He had long returned Candy to her mother, and now, like every other night, he was sitting on his bed, watching the hands of time move.
They moved with no hesitation; just like, they’ve been moving for the last three years.
Time didn’t give a fuck about your situation; it’ll never stop for anyone, always rubbing it in your face that you were the loser.
They say time heals, but Aiden was starting to question that phrase.
If time healed, why does he have to suffer every night?
In the past, he thought he’d never get over the memories of his mother’s tortures, but he did.
He did it with Ariel’s help, but he never imagined that the person who healed his childhood trauma would be the person to give him a life-long trauma.
He never slept.
He just kept staring at the clock until he passed out from tiredness.
He knew he needed to see the psychologist, but he wouldn’t.
He wasn’t ready to accept that Ariel had left a scar on him; he didn’t believe that he needed healing from her, yet every night, he took out his phone and stared at the picture Ariel had sent him before she left for good.
He had tried many times to make out the face of the man in the picture but he couldn’t, and even though the picture hurt his soul and every cell in his body, he somehow wished Ariel’s face was visible, he would have stared at the face of the perish who broke him to hurt himself u till he became numb so that whenever he saw her, he wouldn’t feel a thing.
She had her back to him in the picture; he stared at the familiar back that he had gotten so used to running his hands over in the past; they were so perfect, but fuck it.
He hated her, hated women.
He didn’t even know whom he should have listened to in the past; if he listened to Moon, he’d still end up trapped with her; if he listened to Ariel and estranged Moon, he would still have gotten cheated on by Ariel.
Both women hated themselves because they saw the ulterior motives each had toward him; they saw each other as obstacles to their success, and that’s why he’d made his decision to stay away from women and trust none of them, especially the most innocent-looking ones.
He gripped his phone tightly in his hands as he glared at the picture that shattered his life “I’ll find you, and I’ll make you pay for all my sufferings,” He muttered before he shoved the phone under his pillow.
Aiden didn’t know why, but that night seemed to make him feel like the night of the day the incident happened.
He was angry, uneasy, bitter, resentful, vengeful, and heartbroken.
So, he sat and kept sitting until the first Ray of the morning sun entered his room before his eyes gave up and closed to sleep.
*** In Greece, Ariel and Jace had just entered their apartment after saying goodbye to Mr.
Sloan and Logan who came to drop them off.
They had dropped off Eva, too, because she left in the apartment below theirs.
“Mummy, look, Elmo is still sitting there,” Jace poi Ted to the red hairy toy on the white sofa, running over to grab it and hug it to himself.
Ariel smiled as she placed her handbag on the table beside her door.
“Yes, honey, it was sitting and waiting for you to come home, welcome home, my baby,” She walked over to him and lowered herself on the sofa, lifting him to her lap.
“You must be tired, sweetheart, how about a nice warm bath?” She said softly.
“No, Mummy, Almost and I just want to sleep on your lap,” Jace yawned tiredly, stretching his legs and resting his head on Ariel’s chest.

Ariel smiled as she stared at her son, he was tired.
She let him sleep; he could always have a bath when he woke up.
“Sleep, my baby.
Mummy will take care of you,” She whispered and started a soft lullaby for Jace.
She loved her son so much, and she prayed every day for God to keep her for him and not take her away from him like her mother left her.
It is horrendous growing without a mother, especially for children.
The world out there wasn’t fair, and they were always out searching for walkways to abuse.
His son will never witness what she did, she would make sure of that.
She suddenly heard a soft knock on the door and slowly got up from the sofa to take Jace into his room before she went to open the door; she didn’t want his sleep to be disturbed.
She carried him inside his room and gently placed him on the bed.
She was glad she contacted the cleaning services before coming back; if not, her house would have been full of dust and cobwebs.
She tucked Jace and Elmo in and kissed his forehead before she noiselessly walked out of the room and shut his door quietly.
“Who’s there?” She questioned as she swiped on the small rectangular screen beside the door to check the security footage.
“Logan?” What was he doing here?
She thought he was supposed to be back on the ship, readying himself for another research under the water.
She sighed and opened the door, “Hey,” She stepped aside to let him.
“Hi, damsel.
Oh, no, wait,” He held her hand as she was about to close the door, “Someone’s coming,” He smiled at her.
Ariel turned to the door with a confused look, sticking her head out of the door to see who it was.
“Dad?” She called with a smile and frown at the same time.
“Hey, sugar,” Mr.
Sloan pecked Ariel’s cheek before walking into her house.
She blinked slowly before going in and shutting the door.
Logan and Mr.
Sloan were already sitting on the couch as she turned to look at them.
“Um, aren’t you both supposed to be sailing back to the sea?” She questioned as he leaned against the door and folded her arms against her chest.
“Well, we were, but we changed our mind,” Logan replied, looking at Mr.
Sloan for support.
Mr.
Sloan sighed and nodded.
“It’s true, sweetheart, we decided to come back and forsake our trip for the next three months,” He informed.
Ariel frowned, “Why?
That’s purposely losing money, Dad; why would you do that?” She walked over to them and sat on the single sofa in front of them.
“Because of your three months trip to the States,” Logan supplied.
“Wait?
What?” Ariel suddenly remembered that she had finally discussed the whole work trip with them last night, and thankfully, Mr.
Sloan had agreed.
But she was trying hard to understand what they meant by forsaking their trip for three months which was exactly the period she told them her trip would be.
Were they planning to…
No way.
“Yes, dear, I have decided to travel with you, I know you haven’t told me anything about your past, but I also know that going back there is going to be hard for you, even if you never say it.
I want to be there for you, to let you know that you don’t have to be scared of encountering whatever or whoever happened before, I just want to be your father and daughter, please, let me be the father I promised to be,” Mr.
Sloan said in a soft voice, looking at Ariel with those fatherly eyes of his.
Ariel snugged to hold back her tears, she stood and walked over to Mr.
Sloan, she lowered herself beside him and hugged him tightly.
“Oh, it’s okay, don’t cry.
I’m just doing what any father would have done for their child,” Mr.
Sloan consoled the sobbing Ariel, patting her back gently.
Ariel sniffed and shook her head, “Not every father,” she raised her face and smiled at him with her tears eyes, “Trust me, you’re the best father in the world,” She hugged him again.
“Well, I’m still here, how about crowning me the.
Est boyfriend of the year,” Logan sighed beside them.
Mr.
Sloan chucked and stared at Ariel mischievously.
“What do you say to that, daughter, he’d make a good son-in-law, you know?” He teased.
Ariel glared at Logan, “Keep dreaming, Logan, you’re not my type,” She smirked at him and entered her kitchen.
“Logan, come help me make food!” She shouted from the kitchen.
Logan sided as he stood, “Look who said I’m not her type, you can’t even live without me,” He muttered.
“I heard that,” Ariel said, standing in front of the kitchen door with a knife in her hand.
“Oh no,” Logan put his hands in the air, “No, I’m sorry, I guess my mouth was just too active, I’m sorry,” He pouted as he begged.
Ariel looked at him with a raised brow, “Weirdo, tale this knife and cut those onions on the table,” She pushed the knife into his hand and returned to the kitchen.
“Oh, right…just onions,” He sighed in relief and followed Ariel into the kitchen.
