Chapter 144: Chapter 144 Chapter 144: Chapter 144 Ariel was still in shock, she slowly walked up to Mr.
Sloan and asked, “Tell me this is a joke, tell me that Aiden is not your son,” Her voice was shaky as she spoke.
Aiden stood still, watching Ariel interact with his father; his mind was a mess as he tried to figure out how on earth she became his son; how did she even find him?
Mr.
Slaon sighed, he gently held Ariel’s arm and looked at her, “He is my son, Ariel,” He confirmed.
Ariel shook her head and moved away from him, “So…you knew all along?” She questioned, recalling all the good gestures he’d done for her, she now believed that all of them were because Mr.
Sloan knew she was married to his son.
So he was just doing all that to make up for his son’s actions?
“Knew what, Ariel?
I don’t know what you’re talking about; I’m just as surprised as you are; I never knew you knew my son either,” Mr.
Slaon replied honestly.
“Mm, I believe you; I’ll just leave you both to catch up, then,” She was about to walk away, but Aiden grabbed her hand.
“Hey, you can’t just leave like that,” He drew her back to his side.
“Stop, Aiden, enough,” She snatched her hand from him, glaring at his face.
Mr.
Slaon observed their interaction and realized that they seemed comfortable with each other, maybe too comfortable, and that’s why they could speak to each other that way.
He knew his son because of the experience he had with his mother; he never liked girls, but seeing him like this with Ariel meant that there was more to their story, and he was more than interested in learning about them.
“Alright, children, calm down, there seems to be a heavy misunderstanding between us, sit down,” Mr.
Slaon activated his father mode and went over to sit on a chair.
Ariel glared at Adien before she went to sit far away from Mr.
Sloan.
Aiden was stubborn; he knew Ariel was avoiding him, but he walked over to Ariel and positioned himself beside her.
Ariel ignored him, tapping her fingers on the table.
“So, what’s your relationship with her, Aiden,” Mr.
Sloan questioned, his eyes narrowed at Aiden.
“He’s just a business par-” “He didn’t ask you…” Aiden cut her off.
Mr.
Slaon sighed, why were two grown adults acting like kids?
“Aiden, then answer my question,” Mr.
Sloan called.

Aiden looked away from a frowning Ariel and turned to his father.
“Well, Dad, if you had returned when I asked you to three years ago, you would have known that this is my wife, not my sister,” He facepalmed, silently asking himself why he had to be put in this kind of situation all the time.
Must every woman around him be his sister?
He was losing his mind from it.
Mr.
Sloan paused, his face mirroring his confused mind; he slowly looked up at Ariel and tilted his head to the side.
“You’re married?” He questioned quietly.
“I’m going to die of confusion if someone doesn’t explain everything right now; how is she your daughter, and you know nothing about her?” Aiden asked, looking from Areil to his father.
“Be quiet, Aiden,” Mr.
Sloan churned.
Ariel sighed, “He was my husband,” she replied.
“So, you both divorced?” Mr.
Slaon asked curiously; he was just elated to make sure he was following the storyline.
Ariel slowly shook her head, “We were supposed to, but he tore it just after I signed it,” She paused and pointed at the pieces of paper on the floor, “I’ll have to go file for another one,” “No…you won’t,” Mr.
Sloan replied almost immediately.
“My thoughts exactly, Dad,” Aiden supported.
Ariel was in disbelief, she turned her head to Aiden and stared at him in shock, “You’re thoughts exactly?” She blinked.
Aiden nodded, “Yes,” “You’re crazy; who was the person asking so desperately for a divorce?” She asked angrily.
“Calm down, Ariel; my son sometimes behaves irrationally, and he doesn’t mean most of the things he says or does,” Mr.
Sloan intervened.
Ariek shook his head, “You don’t t understand, Dad; I don’t want to marry this man anymore; I don’t love him; he doesn’t love me; what’s the use of the marriage?” She asked.
Mr.
Sloan smiled; he saw the hurt look on Aiden’s face when Ariel said she did not love him; he knew his son was still a hundred percent in love with his wife.
However, it seemed that their problems were still standing between them.
Now, it was his duty to see that Ariel never divorced Aiden.
He was really happy to find out that they were married.
He was starting to worry if his son would never get married but he never knew he was already married to the best woman.
Mr.
Sloan stood from his chair and walked over to Ariel; he stood behind her and placed his hand on her shoulder, “How about you give him a chance?
For the three months you’ll be here, for my sake, give him a chance and if in the end you still don’t find yourself in love with him, then you can divorce him, okay?” He asked slowly.
Ariel picked her nails, hesitation filling her mind.
However, she owed him that much; maybe she could just pretend for the three months; she knew there was no way she and Aiden would ever come back together as long as there was Moon and her child.
She could never live in peace knowing that her husband slept with his sister and had a child together.
Aiden was quietly observing Ariel, for some reason, he wanted her to accept, he knew he was all about divorce and all, but being with Ariel two times convinced him that maybe there was some information between them, the way she looked at him hasn’t changed, if she didn’t love him anymore, she would have never had let him touch her.
He hoped she agreed to the request; he would make sure to use that three months to uncover every secret surrounding her disappearance.
Ariel slowly nodded, “I’m doing it for you,” Ariel said in a quiet voice.
Aiden smirked when he heard her reply.
Mr.
Sloan nodded, happy, “Thank you, Ariel, you don’t have to worry about my relationship with you; if you end up loving him again, I’ll just terminate the adoption because you’ll now be my daughter-in-law.
But if you do go on with it, then I still want you as my daughter,” He informed thoughtfully.
Ariel smiled, shaking her head, she knew Mr.
Sloan was already thinking ahead.
Aiden put his hand under the table and held Ariel’s thigh, smiling at her.
Ariel frowned, looking down to her thigh and then at Aiden’s face, “You can’t touch me, Aiden, agreeing to work things out doesn’t mean things are worked out already,” She removed his hand from her thigh.
“Right,” He muttered and kept his hand to himself.
Mr.
Slaon sighed happily, “Ahh, now I’m happy; I’ll go get my grandson and…” He paused and turned to Ariel, a thought suddenly popping into his mind.
Aiden seemed to know what his father was thinking because he pinned his eyes on Ariel, too.
“Ariel?” Mr.
Slaon called cautiously.
Ariem knew what was coming, and she didn’t want to lie to Mr.
Sloan, but she didn’t have any other choice, she might have agreed to work things out with Aiden, but it didn’t mean she was ready to tell him the truth about Jace.
She would never bring her son into toxicity until everything was settled, Aidenqsmt Jace’s father.
“Yes?” She smiled as he looked back at Mr.
Sloan.
She could feel Aiden’s eyes on her but she simply ignored him.
“Jace, is he Aiden’s son?” Mr.
Sloan questioned in a low voice.
Aiden’s heart skipped a beat; he’s been so blinded by rage and jealousy that he hasn’t really thought about the possibility that Jace might, in fact, be his son.
However, what Ariel’s said made his hope drop.
“No.
Aiden knows who the child belongs to, he keeps reminding me about it,” She replied and stood up, stepping away from the father and son.
She walked over to the door and turned to look at Mr.
Sloan.
“Where is he, Jace?” She asked.
“With Logan, downstairs,” He answered.
Ariel nodded, “See you around, husband,” she smiled at Aiden before walking out of the meeting room.
That was her way of escaping; she didn’t know how long she could keep up her lies around Mr.
Sloan and Aiden; after all, she did feel bad for lying to them.
Inside the meeting room, Mr.
Sloan gave Aiden a disappointed look.
“I thought you’d know better than hurting a woman, son,” Aiden stood and faced him.
“No, Dad, she hurt me first…you heard her; Jace isn’t mine; she cheated on me,” He replied with a tired voice.
“Do you have evidence?” Mr.
Slaon questioned.
Aiden frowned, “Evidence of her cheating?” Mr.
Sloan nodded, “Yes, do you?” Aiden chuckled humorlessly, “Yes.
Sadly,” He shrugged.
“You’re sure it’s a solid evidence?” Mr.
Sloan watched Aiden’s unsure face.
Aiden slowly nodded.
“Then how about a DNA test?” Mr.
Sloan suggested.
Aiden froze for a second, but he suddenly believed that maybe, Jace would be his son.
However, the evidence he had made everything complicated for him to assimilate, but he was going to give it a shot anyway.
“You mean, Jace might be my child?” He asked, hope once again rising in his chest, the idea of having a child with Ariel made his heart soar, and he was already feeling bad for being absent from his son’s life, leaving the likes of Logan to take his place in Jace’s life.
“Yes, son, he might,” Mr.
Sloan tapped Aiden’s shoulder.
Aiden nodded, “Let’s do it,” Aiden replied, his heart racing with the upcoming result.
Ariel didn’t know what was coming for her; if Jace turned out to be Aiden’s son, Aiden was never going to let her go.
