Chapter 146: Chapter 146 Chapter 146: Chapter 146 That night, Ariel lay in bed quietly.
Aiden’s arm was holding her close to his body, and his breath was slowly fanning the back of her neck.
She was back into those familiar arms.
Why was she suddenly feeling like Aiden didn’t want to separate from her anymore?
It didn’t feel like he was acting just based on Mr.
Sloan’s request; it felt like this was him trying to get her back with him, and why did she feel like she should give him a chance?
No, it wasn’t happening; she would never give him a chance for what he did; how could he just sleep with Moon and even send her the damn video.
She sighed slowly and was about to shift away from him, but his arms tightened around her; she froze, surprised he was still awake.
“Leaving me?” Aiden asked sleepily.
Ariel was quiet, she didn’t know what to say to him.
Aiden was surprised that he had fallen asleep, an activity that had become almost impossible for him for three years, he felt like he was experiencing a miracle, and he knew his miracle was the woman in his arms.
If she left him, he would probably lose sleep.
for the rest of the night.
Aiden sighed and snuggled closer behind Ariel, “I haven’t slept properly for three years, Ariel…” He co fessed quietly.
Ariel slowly raised her hand and removed his hand from his waist, “I just want to turn,” She said when Aiden’s hand held her tightly when he noticed that she wanted to move again.
He loosened his hand and let her face him; the room was dark, with only the bed lamp on to help them make out each other’s faces.
“You lost sleep for three years?” Ariel whispered.
Aiden wrapped his arms around her and buried his face in her neck.
“Yes,” Ariel was confused, “But, you slept just now, right after we…” she paused.
Aiden chuckled, “It’s all you, Ariel, you’re my miracle, my peace…please don’t walk away from me again, I don’t care what happened in the past, I just want my wife back,” He placed a hand on her cheek and looked into her eyes, “Can I have my wife back, it’s hard to be alone, Ariel, I thought I could do it but the moment I saw you again I know I’d lose to you, like I always did, I miss you, I love you,” Aiden’s voice conveyed his raw emotions, his eyes looked vulnerable as he stared at her.
Ariel shut her eyes; her heart was beating erratically, and butterflies were flying around her stomach.
She never knew she could hear this from Aiden again, and she never knew her heart and body would react so more intensely to those words than she did in the past.
Aiden watched her, his mind racing in fear of rejection, he knew it was spontaneous, but he didn’t want to let it drag between them any longer; he didn’t want to give a chance for someone else to win her attention and affection; it’d kill him.
He wanted to make her know what his stand was with her, he was man enough to own up his feelings instead of playing games like some teenager.
And, he wanted about to let some stupid blonde take his wide away from him.
Ariel opened her eyes and looked at Aiden, “You don’t care about what happened in the past?” She asked softly.
Aiden nodded, “I don’t,” He confirmed.
“But I do, Aiden, how could I not?” She sighed.
Aiden paused; he knew it wouldn’t be easy for her; it wasn’t even easy for him to accept what he’d done.
“Please, I’m not asking you to love me now, Ariel.

All I’m asking is that you give me another chance; I believe we’ll work this out.
I’ve been so devastated from the day you disappeared, Ariel, please, put me out of this misery and be mine, I promise to make us work,” He begged.
Ariel took a deep breath, “I’m not going to lie, Aiden, it’s going to be very hard for me.
You…Moon-” “We’ll figure out a way, I promise, for old time’s sake, give me another chance, please…I…I forgive you for what you did, too, I just want you back,” He said With that, Ariel moved away from his arms, “Do you really think I did it?” She questioned with a frown.
Aiden was taken aback by the question, he had a flashback to when his father had asked him the same thing in his company.
He had been so sure in the past, but now, he was starting to doubt himself, which seemed crazy because he hadn’t had evidence in his phone, he had never shown it to anybody, but he knew it; he kept it to himself, and now it felt like he was being delusional.
“Right, you’re quiet, just as expected,” she got down from the bed and threw on a shirt.
“We don’t have to rush things, Aiden, as your dad said, at the end of the three months, if things still don’t work out between us, then we just have to let go; it means we’re not to be,” She knelt on the bed and kissed his lips.
“Like I said, take our moments as a rehearsal, just in case we get back together.
It wouldn’t be too awkward; goodnight, I’m going to sleep with my son,” She nodded at him and walked out of the room.
She was hurting, how could she get back with a man who believed she cheated on him?
That relationship would never be smooth again.
She felt so angry and her anger was directed at Moon.
It was time she quit being the good girl; it was time for her to be the villain, and Moon would never expect what was coming for her.
Ariel meant it this time, she was going to serve Moon double folds of what she served her.
She neared her son’s room and found him sleeping soundly; she shut the door quietly and walked over to his bed, cuddling him to her body.
For now, Jce was the only real person in her life.
Back in Ariel’s room, Aiden played on his back, staring at the ceiling, he was disappointed in himself.
He could have just told her that he didn’t believe she had cheated on him, but he would have been lying to himself.
He promised her honesty, and he would be honest about everything; that’s why he couldn’t answer; he didn’t want to build a relationship based on a lie; he just let her know that he was hurt but was willing to heal.
But look where his honesty got him, alone.
She was close but too far to reach.
He was in her house but bit with her.
He sighed loudly and hugged the pillow Ariel had laid on to his chest, sniffing her sweet scent.
He knew his sleep would be better tonight, not as good as if she was either him, but better than other nights.
Tomorrow would be an adventurous day for him, he would find a way to either get Jace to the hospital with him or get a strand of his hair.
His curiosity was killing him and he needed to get to the bottom of this before his heart and mind would be at rest.
He smiled to himself.
If Jace turns out to be his son, Ariel has no other choice than to be with him.
*** Eva sat in her room looking out of the window that night.
She stared at the familiar landscape and felt outcasted.
It’d been a week since she returned yet she couldn’t still connect with the place.
She was mentally struggling, and for some reason, she didn’t even think about visiting or calling her parents.
Something told her they didn’t even bother about looking for her since Moon said she helped them clear their debt.
She knew her parents, there was nothing else they cared for if not their reputation, and as that reputation had been restored, they couldn’t give a shit about her.
Even though she followed their footsteps in the past, at the back of her mind, she always knew that they were heartless, if her father could treat Ariel like that, they could also treat her the same, especially now that she failed their dreams of having the first heir for the Chaz family.
She wasn’t ever going back to them.
She was going to do the right thing for the first time, which was helping Ariel expose Moon.
She didn’t care if she also got burned in the fire; it was her consequence, and she’d face it with courage.
She walked away from her window and went back to her bed, sitting down.
She picked up her phone and went to her contacts, she dialed a number and let it ring.
“Hello?” Catherine’s voice spoke from the phone.
Eva ended the call immediately, tears falling from her eyes.
She had changed her number, her mother would obviously not know who was calling.
But she just wanted to hear her voice, even if it was just once.
