Chapter 170: Chapter 170 Chapter 170: Chapter 170 Gregory was driving slowly behind the white truck, and for five minutes, Eva had managed to tell him how she came to know the man.
The shock he felt was an understatement; he knew Eva and Moon were evil and jealous, but he never knew that they’d be that malicious, especially Moon.
How could she order for tea humans to be killed and thrown into the ocean?
That was the height of it.
He couldn’t believe that she was the same woman who was acting all innocent and victimized toward everyone.
He was going to expose her by telling Auden everything.
As for the woman sitting beside him, he didn’t know woman what to make of the case.
She had turned from culprit to the victim in the story, and he didn’t know a woman if she still deserved to be punished too.
Eva was sitting beside Gregory, feeling awkward as she finished her story.
She knew Gregory never liked her from the start, and after hearing such a distasteful story from her, he’d definitely be thinking of ways to turn her in to the police.
“Is that why you changed?” Gregory asked quietly, keeping his eyes on the truck.
He’d already crammed the license plate number, even if it was unlikely that he’d miss the vehicle, but just in case it happened, he had already crammed the number and could just track it later.
Eva was quiet, she turned her head to the side and stared at the mean-looking man beside her.
She had always been scared of him in the past, he never smiled, never even looked her way, but recently, she had come to realize that he was a kind person, however, after telling him about the incident, she noticed that his cold aura was back and she feared that the kind man she was uncovering was gone.
“Is that why you changed, Ms.
Eva?
Because you felt guilty, or maybe you’re not really guilty; you’re just changed because you were spared by Ariel and don’t want to get in her bad side to avoid her exposing you?” Gregory asked again.
Eva sighed quietly, “I don’t care if she exposes me, Mr.
Gregory, I’m fine if she wants to do that.
But, after facing a near-death experience, I came to understand that life was more than just trying to marry rich, trying to show others that you’re better than them, and trying to undermine others just so you could shine.
I understand that I could actually be happy in my life if I loved myself first and if I stopped caring about what society’s family thought about me.
I just want to live, Mr.
Gregory, if you, Ariel, or anyone wants to hold me for what I did, I wouldn’t object; in this second chance life of mine, I’ve come to realize that accountability is part of life.
I have to be accountable for what I’ve done.
So, no, I’m not changed to gain forgiveness; I’m changed to be better, to heal those I’ve hurt, and to heal myself.” Gregory slowly nodded, he was convinced to an extent because even if Moon tried to pretend, she could never come up with such reasonable words.
He wasn’t going to believe her a hundred percent, but he was going to give her the benefit of the doubt.
“Then, you can be accountable by cooperating with me until we have those guys arrested,” He mentioned as he slowly turned a corner.
Eva nodded, “I want nothing but for them to be caught.
I would cooperate, even if it meant going down with them because, in the end, I’m an accomplice too.” She responded.
Gregory tightened his fingers on the steering wheel; he never mentioned her going down with anyone; why was she mentioning it?

“I think that’s his house,” Eva pointed forward to the white truck as it slowly parked in front of a small building.
Gregory gritted his teeth and looked at where Eva was pointing.
The truck parked, and the man came out of the car.
He stopped his car very far away from the building, just so they didn’t seem suspicious.
Gregory took out a small camera from the center console, raised it in front of him, and clicked a few pictures.
He placed the camera back and started the car.
“We’re done?” Eva asked quietly.
“Yes,” He replied, reversed the car, and drove away.
“Oh,” Eva muttered.
Gregory glanced at her and returned his eyes to the road.
“What?
Want to go say hi?” He asked.
“No!
No, I shouldn’t have asked such a stupid question,” She spoke.
Gregory sighed, “I will take you home, Ms.
Eva and I suggest you don’t return to your work, at least, until that man I’d taken care of.
What’s his name?” He questioned.
“Hugo…I don’t know if it’s his real name, but that’s what they called him,” Eva informed.
Gregory nodded, not saying a word.
Eva was quiet, too.
She thought of what he suggested and agreed to it; going back to work at the mall would be endangering herself, so it was wise she lay low until everything was taken care of….she would have to have to look for another job then, she couldn’t just stay without doing anything.
And, the last thing she would do would be to return to those evil and selfish people she called parents.
“We’re here,” Gregory announced.
Eva snapped out of her thoughts and looked at him, “We are?
Oh, okay, thank you…” she said and moved to open the car.
“Ms.
Eva,” Gregory called.
She paused, already aware that Gregory had a few things he’d say to her.
“Yes?” Eva looked up at him, waiting for him to say what he had to say.
“I’m going to tell Mr.
Chaz everything you’ve said and-” “No!
No, please,” She leaned over and held his hand, pleading to him with her eyes.
Gregory frowned, “I thought you wanted to cooperate, is this how you do it?” He raised a brow at her.
Eva nodded, “Y-yes, I do.
But this is not what you think I’m doing, I’m not stopping you from bringing those guys to justice.
But don’t tell Mr.
Chaz, you can tell Ariel.
She doesn’t want to tell him yet, she wants to work it out herself…please…” she gently tapped his hand.
Gregory narrowed his eyes at her, “Why should I believe you?
How do I know how you’re not still working with them and are just trying to buy time for another kidnap with tour guys?” He asked suspiciously.
Eva chuckled, “No, Mr.
Gregory…not at all.
I was just trying to help my sister achieve the satisfactory revenge she wanted, you know what?
How about you speak with Ariel first?
If she tells you it’s okay to tell Mr.
Chaz, then you can…I just don’t want to do anything that would hinder her plans, she would be pissed when she learns I told you about this, but I was just trying to help,” She shrugged.
She saw that Gregory was quiet and decided to leave, he would find out the truth when he spoke to Ariel.
“Goodbye, Mr.
Gregory,” She tried to remove her hand from his but he suddenly held on tightly.
“Wait…” He quietly cleared his throat, still holding her hand.
Eva frowned slightly, “What’s it, Mr.
Gregory?
Do you want to ask-” “About the kiss-” “It doesn’t matter,” She tried removing her hand again but he drew back to face him.
“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be forceful or to annoy you, I just want to make sure I didn’t overstep my boundary by kissing you, I was-” “It’s okay, Mr.
Gregory, I was the one who asked you to help me out, and I’m thankful for your help…the kiss meant absolutely nothing.
I promise that there will never be such a condition between us,” She gave him a small smile.
Gregory was still confused, why didn’t he like her reply?
He let her as she slowly removed her hand from his, not stopping her when she went to open the door.
“Have a nice day, Mr.
Gregory, oh, and here’s how to contact me, in case you want to inquire about anything regarding the incident, I’m always available to assist, bye,” She placed a small blue card on the seat she was previously occupying before she gently shut the door and walked away from the car.
Gregory needed help; he was beating himself up for not wishing her a good day, too.
He needed help; he needed someone to explain why he was suddenly feeling offended by what Eva had said to him.
Was this a normal feeling between two genders who were getting to know each other?
He sighed and drove away from her apartment; he would speak to Ariel first, as Eva had suggested; he knew they had to act fast; those guys weren’t people who should be left to walk freely after the evil they did.
Moon, too…he would make sure he aided Ariel with whatever she needed to put her down.
He, too, had had enough of her stupid drama.
