Chapter 177: Chapter 177 Chapter 177: Chapter 177 Gregory saw Eva walking back to the car and started it; he was quiet as she entered; his fingers were quietly drumming on the steering wheel.
Eva got in and closed her door, “Done,” She announced.
Gregory nodded and drove the car away, still not speaking to her.
Eva frowned.
“That’s it?
You’re not going to ask me anything?” She faced him as she clicked her seatbelt beside her.
Gregory was quiet for a while before responding, “I don’t need to ask you.” “Huh?” She tilted her head to the side and stared at Gregory in confusion.
“What do you mean?” She questioned.
“I heard everything, Ms.
Eva.
It’s connected to my earpiece, how else am I supposed to know if you’re still safe in there?” Gregory glanced at her briefly.
“Oh…” Eva relaxed against the chair, pursing her lips.
She should have thought about that earlier.
“You sounded so convincing back there…you were so real…like your old self,” Gregory casually mentioned, but Eva still caught the little frown on his face.
She mirrored his expression, “So, you think I meant everything I said to Moon?
You think I’m still interested in Mr.
Chaz?” She raised a brow.
Gregory sighed, “Are you?” Eva scoffed, “No, he’s not even my type,” She shrugged.
Gregory felt a kingdom of reassurance when he heard her reply.
However, he couldn’t believe her for just her words; he would believe her when Moon was exposed.
“I’m just making sure we’re on the same page,” He commented.
“I’m a little offended.
You come to my house and ask me for a favor, I agree, but you end up suspecting me for helping you,” Eva removed her hair that was falling out to the side of her face and stared out of the window.
Gregory looked at Eva and saw her looking out the window; he sensed that she was really offended and couldn’t understand why she felt that way.
He was just trying to make sure everything was as it seemed.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be ungrateful or rude.
Like I said, you sounded so real; I’m still trying to get used to the new you.
Hearing your conversation with Moon made me have doubts, I’m sorry,” His voice sounded in the car, deep and calm.
Eva sighed, “It’s alright.
I understand.

Even though I’m still trying to come to terms with that, I’ve really changed.
I can imagine how others would feel,” She chuckled softly.
“But, you don’t have to doubt me, I’ve really changed.
Being the villain is so tiring, no peace of mind and all, no, not for me,” She smiled.
Gregory replied with a nod, feeling relieved.
They reached the front of Eva’s apartment and Gregory parked the car.
“We’re here,” He announced.
Eva nodded, “I know…do you want to come in?” She asked, smirking at him.
She suddenly felt like teasing him before leaving him.
Gregory turned to Eva, “Um, no, I just need the recorder and I’ll be on my way,” He said, feeling awkward again.
Eva shrugged and removed her seatbelt, leaning towards Gregory, “Well then, Mr.
Gregory, you know where to get,” She smiled at him, placing one of her hands on his seat as she leaned closer to him.
Gregory sighed.
He thought he Could escape this part, but he couldn’t; it looked like Eva was purposely fishing for something.
“Can you help me out with time?” He asked in an unsure voice, shifting closer to his door to put some space between them as Eva had leaned so close to him.
Eva shook her head, “That’s not how it works, Mr.
Gregory.
You put in…you take out, that’s the motion,” Eva’s voice was low, and she was purposely hinting at something else too.
Gregory cleared his throat, “Then…” He paused and looked at her face, then at her buttoned-up collar.
“I’ll take it out,” He said.
Eva nodded and shifted closer in her seat so that she was right in front of Gregory.
“Go ahead,” she whispered.
Gregory nodded and slowly moved his hands up to Eva’s collar; he was going to be careful this time; he wouldn’t want the recorder falling between her breasts like the last time.
“So, who do you like better?” Eva asked as Gregory carefully unbuttoned her shirt.
Gregory paused and frowned, “What do you mean?
Who are you talking about?” He questioned and resumed unbuttoning her shirt.
“Me.
My old self or my new self; who do you like better?” She asked clearly.
Gregory gulped; he had unbuttoned the shirt; now, he had to push her shirt to the side to be able to retrieve the recorder.
Eva’s question didn’t help his awkwardness either.
Who told her that he even liked any of her?
“Mm?
Answer me,” Eva urged on.
Gregory gently pushed her shirt aside and raised his hand to take the recorder, but Eva held his hand, keeping it on her chest.
He looked up at her face, “I just want to take the recorder, Ms.
Eva,” He informed.
“I know…answer my question and you can have it,” she said.
“Who do you like better?
Then or now?” She tilted her head and waited for his reply.
Gregory knew head to pick one, and he knew what he was going to answer; he stared at her and said, “I never liked the old you, but now I do.
I like you now, does that answer your question?” He raised a brow at her.
Eva found herself blushing, “Is this a confession?” She smiled.
Gregory gave a ridiculous look and shook his head, “Can I have the recorder now?
I’ve answered your question,” He looked down at her chest and removed his eyes immediately.
Just like in the morning, the upper part of her breasts were glaring boldly at him, daring him to touch them, but he wouldn’t.
Eva released his hand and let him take it out.
She retired to her sear and sighed in disappointment.
“Too bad, I thought I was about to get myself a boyfriend, just as the woman stated earlier in the morning,” She sounded sad.
Gregory watched Eva for a while, “You don’t have a boyfriend?” He suddenly asked.
Eva nodded, turning her sad face to him, “I thought it was obvious, given my past,” She replied.
“Then, what you said earlier, did you want me to be your boyfriend?” He asked cautiously.
Eva widened her eyes, what kind of a man was he?
“Never mind, I’ll be leaving,” She turned to the door and pushed it but it wouldn’t open.
She heard the sound of the doors locking.
“What’s this, Mr.
Gregory?
You’re not letting me leave?” She frowned.
“I can’t let you leave, Ms.
Eva, I think you’ve-” “Unlock the door, Mr.
Gregory, my business with you is finished, I want to go home,” She demanded.
“Just listen to me, I’m trying to help you; you’ve been double-crossed again.
Look,” He pointed forward.
Eva looked and saw what he was showing her.
She identified that car immediately; it was Hugo’s truck; what was he doing there?
She was still trying to convince herself that it wasn’t who she was thinking until she saw the man come out of the car.
It was Hugo.
He marched intently toward her building, entering right inside when he reached it.
“That bitch!
She’s so unbelievable.
She really sent him to kill me…coward!” Eva gasped in disbelief.
“I’ll just wait until he left then-” “No way,” Gregory said and drove the car away.
“Hey!
Where are you taking me?” Eva asked in alarm.
“You’re never coming back here, for your safety, until everyone involved with Moon has been caught,” He told her.
Eva shook her head, “You can’t take me away from me – ugh!” She grunted and slammed her hand on the dashboard, snapping her face to the side to glare at Gregory, who had suddenly stopped the car.
“What was that for?
My seatbelt isn’t even fixed yet,” Eva was breathing fast.
Gregory didn’t look at her, “You wanted to leave,” He unlocked the doors and pointed to them, “You can leave now,” He stated.
Eva looked at him, looked back at the building, and then sat back and fixed her belt, “There’s no way I’m going in there,” she muttered.
“That’s what I thought,” He said and immediately drove out of the car.
Eva had never been to Aiden’s house, as Gregory drove the car through the gates, she immediately fell intimidated by the tall mansion that was standing strong in front of her.
“Let’s go,” Gregory said and got down from the car.
Eva nodded and immediately followed him.
As she walked into the house, she could understand why every woman was obsessed with Aiden.
The man was fucking wealthy and Ariel was one lucky woman.
They were meant for each other, and she wished them all the happiness in the world.
They reached the living room and Gregory asked Eva to sit while he called Ariek to come down.
“No, I’ll stand right here, please,” She refused.
Gregory nodded and phoned Ariel, soon, she walked down the stairs and met them.
“You brought her back?” She questioned as she lowered herself on the sofa.
“Yes, Moon sent Hugo to her apartment.
I believe it’s not safe to let her go back.
She’ll stay with me for the meantime until everything is settled,” Gregory explained.
“Oh, that’s thoughtful of you.
Do you agree, Eva?” Ariel turned to Eva with a smirk.
