Chapter 203: Chapter 203
Ken stood in the arrival hall, staring down at his watch and tapping his foot.
He’d been there for ten minutes which wasn’t what he’d planned.
He looked up at the people emerging with their baggage and still couldn’t find who he was looking for.
He sighed tiredly and turned to leave; it was eleven at night, and he was sleepy and tired from work and needed to sleep.
He was just about to leave the arrival hall when he heard someone calling his name from behind.
He turned and frowned, the initial enthusiasm of seeing the person had now been replaced with irritation.
“What took you so long? You’re the last person to leave the plane?” Ken asked.
“Not even a welcome home buddy?” Viktor was disappointed.
Ken scoffed, took Viktor’s bag from him, and started walking off, “You wasted my time,” He said.
Viktor followed him, “Fine, I’m sorry, but I almost lost my bags, and when I found it, a female staff decided to hold me back for a little chat; it’s not my fault for being too hot,” He explained.
“So, I was out here, waiting, standing, and you were in there flirting?” Ken paused at the exit and turned to Viktor.
Viktor halted, “Come on, man, I’m sorry, but for real, it was her who insisted, and Moma taught me that it’s not good to reject a lady, I had to leave her with my contact and hurry out to meet you, my dear friend,” He placed his hand around Ken’s shoulder, “Come on, let’s go home,” He kissed Ken’s cheek.
“What the fuck, Viktor?” Ken snapped his head to Viktor, scowling.
“Relax, Dude, it’s been three fucking years of not annoying you, I can’t help it,” He smiled at Ken and walked out of the airport building.
Ken sighed and followed him, he knew his peaceful days were over.
He didn’t know why, but as he came to pick up Viktor from the airport, he wished to see someone else, Jess.
He knew it was ridiculous, but he wished she would just miraculously appear before him and run into his arms. They would then kiss and forget all about what happened in the past.
“Ken! Come on, let’s go, I’m driving,” Viktor called.
Ken blinked and realized he was already standing beside his car and Viktor was sitting in the driver’s seat.
He let him.
He walked around and went to sit beside Vikor.
“I’m crashing at your place tonight; don’t feel like going back to mine,” Viktor informed before driving away from the car.
Ken slowly nodded, resting his head against the chair.
They soon reached and Viktor settled in, comfortably sitting on the sofa after a warm shower.
“Yes, yes, I know you said you were coming in tomorrow, but telling me you got here before me is wild. Like you really left without informing me? That’s crazy, and I feel so stupid. Here I am thinking of how to pick you up from the airport tomorrow morning not knowing you’re already settled and chilling,” Viktor frowned as he spoke into the phone, quietly listening to the person on the other side of the phone.
He sighed, “Fine, I understand, Je- ah, I got to go, see you tomorrow, then,” He quickly ended the call and looked at Ken, who was standing in front of him.
“Hi, I didn’t know you were still awake, couldn’t sleep?” Viktor asked, placing his phone beside him.
“Who were you speaking to?” Ken moved quietly and sat beside Viktor.
Viktor shifted uncomfortably, “Ah, my new girlfriend… the Custom lady from the airport; we just fixed a date for tomorrow. Why are you asking?” He questioned.
Ken stared at him for a while, not really buying his reply, “Nothing. The guest room is ready, you can go sleep,” He stood and walked away.

Viktor quickly stood and followed Ken, “Thanks, but I had hopes of sharing a nice warm bed with you; who knows, things might get spicy between us; what do you think?” He grabbed Ken’s arm before he could enter his room.
Ken sighed slowly, he closed his eyes to control his anger before he turned to look at Viktor.
“Your room is over there,” Ken pointed across the living room, “Goodnight,” He said and removed his hand from Viktor’s hold, walked into his room, and quietly shut his door.
Calmness was his best approach to everything these days; he knew Viktor would have annoyed him further if he reacted otherwise, so he chose calmness; it helped him get out of ninety-nine percent of problems.
Viktor stood in front of Ken’s door with a mischievous smile playing on his lips; he couldn’t wait for Ken’s surprise; he wanted to see how far Ken was willing to go to prove his worth.
***
Ken had just driven Viktor back to his house; he had some errand to run before he went to the company.
He wanted to go to the mall and get some groceries, but he’d be too tired to go get them in the evening when he’d be returning from work.
He drove past his favorite gym around the area and silently promised himself to go exercise the coming weekend, he’d been so occupied and hadn’t done any exercise for a month.
He quickly went into the mall and got all he needed; on his way to his car, he suddenly remembered he’d forgotten to get something, but he decided against the idea of going back to get it. He was running late for work, and he didn’t have time to explain to Aiden why he was late; the man had been irritable lately, and getting on that side of him wasn’t what Ken needed that morning.
He quickly headed to his car and unlocked it, but his hand that was about to place the groceries inside the car froze mid-air as his eyes locked on a familiar figure.
“Ouch!” A voice grunted below him.
“What the…” He paused when he looked down and saw that it was a kid who had run into him and fell to the floor.
“I’m sorry, Mr. I was running away from my brother and didn’t look, here,” The boy apologized and picked up Ken’s grocery bag, handing it to him.
Ken took the bag from the boy, “It’s alright, be more careful. I guess that’s your brother?” He pointed to a teenage boy in front of his car.
The boy looked behind and widened his eyes, “Can I go? Am I in trouble? Do I need to buy you a new grocery?” He asked, his feet tipping up and down on the floor, readying himself for a takeoff.
Ken chuckled, “Run along, kid, just be careful,” Je said to the boy.
“Yes, Sir. Bye!” The boy laughed and zoomed off, his teenage brother immediately left the front of Ken’s car, chasing his little brother.
As they left, Ken was reminded of when they were younger, they got in a lot of trouble each time they went out to a gathering due to how windy they had played as kids.
He suddenly recalled seeing a familiar figure trying to enter a car across from him, but when he looked again, no one was there; he saw the car driving out of the mall.
Ken muttered a curse and quickly entered his car, he had to follow that car.
If his brain wasn’t playing a silly joke on him, then the person he was chasing right now was Jess, and if it was truly Jess then fuck work. He wasn’t going to any stupid job, he had to speak to her.
He was doubtful and hopeful at the same time; after three years, he finally caught a glimpse of someone like her; his prayers were finally being answered, his palms became sweaty and shaky, his heart was beating loudly; he was scared.
He wanted the person inside the car to be Jess, but at the same time, he was scared to face her. He’d been so mean to her; forgiving him wouldn’t be easy, but it was a risk he was willing to take.
Surprisingly, the car he’d been following behind pulled over in front of the gym he passed while going to the mall; he stopped a distance away so it wouldn’t be obvious he was stalking the driver.
His fingers clenched around his steering wheel, his throat tightening as the door of the car opened. His eyes remained locked on the door, his pulse racing as the person took their precious time before getting out.
Finally, the moment he saw the leg of the person touch the ground, he was a hundred percent sure that it was Jess.
“Jessica…” He suddenly turned breathless.
Her tight forest green gym shorts accentuated her long legs and fine curves, and it seemed like she had removed the jacket she wore at the mall because she now had on an oversized white shirt, her hair packed in a smooth pony behind her head.
“Damn…” Ken loosened the tie around his neck as he watched Jess’ skin glow under the morning sun.
She had changed, body and all.
She looked more beautiful than he’d ever seen her, more confident and more… sexy.
“I’m cooked,” He gulped and watched her as she entered the gym.
The moment she disappeared into the gym, he quickly got out of his car and walked toward the gym building.
He didn’t care if people stared at him weirdly for wearing a suit in that kind of environment, and most definitely didn’t care if Aiden pulled a gun at him for not showing up at the company.
All he cared about at that moment was Jess; he was going in there, and he was going to speak to her. Hopefully, she listens.
