Chapter 205: Chapter 205
Jess sat on her couch, her heart racing as she stared at Ariel’s number on her phone.
She bit her lips, her thumb hovering over the number on the screen.
She almost pressed on it but suddenly dropped her phone, “No… it won’t be heartfelt if I apologize through a phone call… I’ll go see her tomorrow morning,” She muttered.
She picked up her phone again and dialed a number, “Hi, Viktor, we’re going to Ariel’s tomorrow morning,” She said and ended the call; she didn’t want to give him the chance to reject her offer.
She went into her room and lay quietly on the bed, her mind going back to her encounter with Ken in the gym locker room.
“Bastard,” She sighed.
What did he want from her? To use her as a substitute again?
He was going to get a harsh wake-up call. She wasn’t the same Jess he knew three years ago, who was ready to lose herself just to be with him; she’s learned better; no one was ever going to make her feel less of herself again, especially not Ken, he would rather be the one to feel used this time.
Jess didn’t believe that thoughts of Ken could still bother her, she thought she was over it. But, that night, she tossed and turned until sleep finally overtook her.
The next morning, Jess woke to a knock on her door. She was pissed.
She checked her time and frowned when saw that it was just a few minutes past seven. She didn’t plan to wake up till nine; who the fuck was knocking on her door and disrupting her sweet sleep?
She groaned as he lifted herself from the bed, reluctantly placing her legs on the floor.
She picked up her pajama shorts from the chair at the corner of her room and fixed them on, sleepily walking out of her room.
“Ouch,” She mumbled when she felt a sharp pain on her toe, “fuck!” She cursed, glaring at her sofa, “You’re in my way,” She muttered and limped over to the door.
What a bad morning,” She whispered as she opened her door.
“What a really bad morning,” She frowned as she stared at Ken standing in front of her door.
“Good morning, Jessica, I -”
Slam!
Ken blinked in shock as he saw the door being slammed on his face.
“That was unexpected,” He scratched the back of his head, looking around to check if anyone witnessed his embarrassing moment.
“Jessica, please let me in; I just want to have a simple conversation with you,” Ken leaned into the door and spoke.
He didn’t get a response.
He sighed and lowered himself in front of her door. He would sit there until she let him in.
Inside the house, Jess got about her morning routine, forcing herself to believe that she hadn’t just seen Ken in front of her door, looking all handsome and well-groomed that morning.
She didn’t care; he could look all handsome and hot, and it wouldn’t bother her; he didn’t entice her.
She had a quick shower and dressed up, texting Viktor to make sure he showed up at Ariel’s house at the same time she’d be arriving.
She was sure Ken would have left as she walked toward her door; he couldn’t hang around for more than an hour.
However, when she opened her door, she almost tripped over someone’s back.
“What the fuck, Kenneth?!” She gripped the sides of her door, glaring at the man, who was not looking at her.
Ken quickly stood and faced Jess, dusting his behind, “I’m sorry, are you hurt?” He reached out his hand to touch her but she stepped back.

“Stop, don’t touch me,” She frowned deeper.
“Of course, I’m sorry… I just wanted to wait for you because I do want to speak to you about something,” Ken stared at her, taking in how beautiful she looked that morning.
“You want to speak to me?” She asked, stepping out of her door.
Ken moved out of her way to give her space.
“Yes,” He replied.
Jess slowly turned to face him, “Okay, you have five minutes,” She folded her arms.
Ken was flustered; he wasn’t expecting to be timed, and he didn’t know where to start.
“Well, I was hoping I’d take you out somewhere and have a decent conversation-”
“Four more minutes,” Jess reminded, tapping her feet on the floor.
“Come on, Jessica, stop -”
“Time’s up. Never show your face in my house again,” She bumped her shoulder against his as she walked past him, leaving him standing there alone.
Ken immediately turned to follow her but paused when he saw her entering her car, “Damn… this is harder than I thought,” He sighed as Jess’ car zoomed away from her house.
Ken was helpless.
He really wanted to speak to Jess; he wished she would just give him a chance to properly apologize and date her; his guilt was multiplying each day, knowing he was the cause of Jess’ change in behavior.
He needed her; he wanted her to be his in every way a man could own a woman, but from the way things were going, he couldn’t see himself ending up with Jess unless a miracle happened and she forgave him.
He messed up in the past, that was a fact, but he was ready to receive all her tantrums; no matter how serious they got, he deserved it.

Jess had just gotten down from her car when Viktor’d car pulled up inside Aiden’s compound.
“Didn’t know you would keep to time,” She said as Viktor got out of his car.
“I’ll not be here because you asked; I’m here for my friends… and my daughter,” He replied.
“Right…” Jess nodded.
“Then, let’s go,” Jess held his hand and led him toward the house.
Gregory was coming out from the door when he saw the two people coming toward him, “Mr. Viktor, Ms. Jessica, when did you both return?” He asked politely.
“Two days ago, right, Vik?” Jess asked.
Viktor nodded, “Yeah, nice to see you again,” He shook Gregory’s hand.
“Same here, go right in,” Gregory nodded and stepped out of the way.
Jess took a deep breath as she stepped inside the house; she felt memories from the last time she was here rushing into her mind. She had left feeling so bitter with everything, with Aiden, Grandma Nari, Moon… especially Moon.
She was still angry at them, she had only returned to see Ariel, to apologize, and to look Moon in the face and let her know that she’d lost after all.
“Why are you holding me so tightly?” Viktor asked Jess, looking down at his hand that Jess was holding.
“Sorry… where are they?” She questioned as he saw no one in the living room.
“I don’t know, I’ll call Aiden’s phone, maybe they’re upstairs,” Viktor said and walked over to sit on a sofa.
“Hey, Viktor, look,” Jess tapped his shoulder.
Viktor looked up with a frowbutit immediately dropped his frown when he saw the little boy standing at the foot of the stairs, holding a robot toy in his hand.
They immediately knew it was Aiden and Ariel’s son; they’d seen his pictures all over the net.
“Hi, little fella, I’m Jess,” Jess slowly moved forward as if she was scared of scaring him.
“Hi, Jess,” Jace replied, staring inquisitively at Jess and Viktor.
Jess reached Jace and squatted in front of him, “Hey, you won’t know me, but I’m your mother’s friend, and that’s Viktor; he’s a friend, too,” She offered him a hug.
“Can I shake you instead?” He asked politely.
Jess laughed lightly, “Of course, no hugging strangers, right?” She shook his little hands.
Viktor came and carried the boy without a word, “Hi, man, what’s up? Is that a transformer?” He asked, pointing at Jace’s toy.
Jace nodded excitedly, “Yes, I have loads of it. Want to see them?” He asked, excited.
“Sure, but after you’ve let your parents know their friends are here to see them, deal?” He smiled.
Jace nodded, “Deal, put me down,” he said.
“There you go, man,” Viktor patted Jace’s head.
“What? He refused to hug me but let you hold him, smiled at you, and even went to get his parent for you, wow,” Jess stood and went over to the sofa.
“It’s called brotherhood, we relate more to our gender than to -”
“Than to what? You misogynist?” Jess asked, scowling at him.
“Woah, calm down, Jessy, that’s not what I meant. I just -”
“Fighting as always?” Ariel’s voice asked behind the bickering friends.
Jess immediately turned to look at Ariel, her eyes lightening up with excitement, “Ariel…” She called cautiously.
“What’s that? Is that a way to greet a friend? Come here,” Ariel widened her arm for a hug.
Jess chuckled like a kid before she ran into Ariel’s waiting arms, hugging her tightly.
“Oh, Ariel, I missed you so much; I thought I’d never see you again,” Jess smiled, her eyes brimming with tears.
“We’re right here, Jess, nothing can come between our friendship,” Ariel gently patted her back.
