Chapter 210: Chapter 210
“Yes, Grandma, I’ll try and convince her. No, we just went to get Jace something, we’ll be right back,” Ariel said to Grandma Nari on the other side of the phone.
Aiden was staring at her, smiling.
They hadn’t told Grandma Nari about their pregnancy, so they were being sneaky about it. They planned to tell her through an ultrasound picture, but Ariel felt like she was going to tell her soon.
“What did she say?” Aiden asked, massaging Ariel’s shoulder as she sat in Carla’s office.
“She said she wants us to throw a welcome party for Jess, that way, she’s got to see her and apologize to her; she asked me to convince Jess that she wouldn’t be there like Jess would believe it,” Ariel sighed.
Aiden smirked, “Don’t worry, even if she doesn’t believe it, she’ll still show up to her party. Those two women miss themselves,” He said.
“I hope so… where is Carla? She said she would be back in a few minutes,” Ariel stood from the chair.
Aiden looked at the door, “Let’s go, she must be in the reception with Jace,” He opened the door for her and followed her out.
“Hi, Boss,” Carla met them as they were about to go inside the elevator.
Ariel turned, expecting to see Jace with her but she was disappointed when she didn’t find her son beside her.
“Where’s Jace?” She asked.
“Ah, the young doc, he left me for a younger burse. He’s right at the reception, and don’t worry, she’s a nice person; I wouldn’t have left him if she wasn’t,” She informed.
“Then, well, be going,” Aiden said and was about to leave, but Carla stopped him again.
“Can I have a word with you, Boss, just a minute? It’s about Moon,” She said.
“You guys can chat, I need to check my son,” She kissed Aiden’s lips before leaving in the waiting elevator.
Ariel wondered what Carla wanted to discuss with Aiden about Moon, what has Moon done this time? Whatever, she didn’t care, as long she didn’t cross her path, she was good.
She walked out of the elevator to see Jace sitting beside a very beautiful older woman; she looked like she was waiting for her turn to see a consultant. She smiled when she how attentive she was to whatever Jace was saying.
She looked around and saw a young, female nurse speaking to the receptionist about the file in her hands; that must be the nurse Carla had left Jace with.
She walked over to Jace and the woman and sat beside her son, “Hey, baby,” She placed a hand on his lap.
“Mummy, where is Daddy?” Jace turned away from the woman and asked.
“He’ll be right back in a minute, who’s your friend?” She questioned, smiling.
“Hi, dear, my name is Bay,” She offered Ariel a handshake.
Ariel politely shook the woman’s hand and nodded, “I’m Ariel, Jace’s mother,” She replied.
“She’s here to see the doctor,” Jace provided.
“Ah, I see, like we just did, right?” Ariel asked softly.
Jace nodded, “Are you pregnant like Mummy?” Je asked Bay.
“Jace!” Ariel called in shock, chuckling nervously at the older woman.
Anyone could tell that the woman had been friends with menopause for a long time now, and the pregnancy chapter was closed.
Ariel hoped she didn’t get offended by her son’s loose mouth.
Bay laughed, “It’s okay, he doesn’t know better. I’m not pregnant, young prince, but I did have a child, and he’s so big right now. Happy?” She smiled at the young boy.

Jace nodded.
“I’m sorry, Bay, it was nice meeting you, we’ll be leaving now,” She stood and held Jace’s hand, “Let’s go, baby,”
“Bye, Bay,” Jace waved at her.
“Um, wait, I’m sorry, I know I’m being an inconvenience, but can I get your contact? Please don’t take me as a weirdo. I just happen to like kids a lot, and I’d love to keep in touch, for Jace’s sake, please,” Bay smiled kindly at Ariel.
“Um…” She looked ahead to check if Aiden was coming out yet, he wouldn’t want her giving out her number to strangers.
“How about I give you my work email? No offense, but I don’t give out my contacts to strangers,” Ariel replied politely.
Bay nodded, “I understand; I’m fine with the email,” She chuckled.
Ariel put her hand inside the pocket of her baggy jeans, took out a card, and handed it to Bay.
“Thank you, I’ll keep in touch,” Bay smiled and waved at them, “See you soon, Jace,” She said.
Jace nodded, “Bye,” he waved back.
Ariel smiled at the woman and walked away with Jace, waiting in the car for Aiden.
After two minutes, Aiden entered the car, “Sorry I’m late, miss me?” He leaned over and pecked Ariel’s cheek.
“Yeah,” She smiled.
“Did you see Bay?” Jace asked.
“Bay?” Aiden asked as she started to drive the car out of the hospital.
Ariel sighed, “Yeah, he was speaking to an older woman when I found him, and she ended up asking for my contact so she could keep in touch with Jace…” She paused when she noticed Aiden’s sharp glance, “Don’t worry, I’m not that naive to give my number out to strangers; I gave her a business mail; she’ll reach out to the company first,” She chuckled.
Aiden slowly nodded, “Better; we can’t trust anyone, for you understand that, Jace?” Aiden asked his son.
“But she was so kind, can’t we trust Bay, Mummy?” Jace questioned.
“You don’t trust anyone, baby, except Mom and Dad, okay?” She turned to look at him.
He slowly nodded, “Okay, I understand,” He said.
“Good boy,” Ariel praised.
“Now, how to convince Jess to come for her own welcome party,” Ariel sighed and fished out her phone, starting to send a text to Jess.
***
Jess was quietly sitting on her sofa; Jewel, who had recently learned of her return, was busy in her kitchen making himself whatever he was making.
“Jess, I think you left your phone in here,” Jess shouted from the kitchen.
Jess blinked out of her thought, what was she thinking about? Ken.
She was berating herself for the last time he was here, what had she thought she was doing?
She almost made the same mistake twice; shame on her for being loose. Where was the self-discipline and self-love she was blabbing about?
Ken must think she had been pretending to be strong all along. He must think she was still the weak girl he hurt years ago.
However, she was glad nothing later happened between them, God bless Raymond for coming to interrupt them.
But, damn! It felt so good, feeling a man’s hand on her skin after three years felt like an aphrodisiac to her, she frankly would t have stopped him if he went in for more than a kiss. She was sex-starved, and she had to do something about it before her horny self willingly offered herself to Ken.
She had to find a worthy man to fuck her, no feelings attached, just a fun night and that was it.
She suddenly thought of Aiden’s club or Dee’s club.
She chose La Playa, it was far away from the city and it would reduce the probability of her hooking up with someone familiar or someone she might accidentally bump into at the mall.
Yes, La Playa it was this weekend, she was getting fucked, and nothing could change her mind.
“Jess!!!” Jewel’s voice called louder this time.
“I’m coming,” She sprang up from her different and hurried into the kitchen.
“Why are you screaming, Jewel?” She frowned at him as she walked over to him.
Jewel was covering his pot of noodles as Jess came in, “Your phone is distracting me; I think it’s a lover or something; the calls and texts keep coming in; it’s annoying,” He pointed at the phone on the table.
Jess was quiet. Could it be Ken? He hadn’t appeared again since he left her house.
Could he have managed to get her new number and decided to text and call her? Was that how desperate he was?
She picked up her phone, expecting to see an unknown number but her face fell when she saw Ariel’s name on the screen.
She sat on the chair beside the table and read the message.
“What’s that? Who’s that?” Jewel came over with his plate of noodles and sat beside Jess.
Jess sighed, “It’s Ariel, she and Aiden are hosting a welcome party for me the after tomorrow…” She said, looking sad.
“So? Why do you look bummed?” Jewel asked, forking his food.
Jess shrugged, “I don’t want to go; I don’t want to see her, Grandma; I know she wants to use the opportunity and apologize as well as welcome me back to the family,” She frowned.
“And what bad about that?” He narrowed his eyes at her.
“I don’t want to go,” She refuted.
“Nonsense, gimme that,” He snatched the phone from her and stood from his chair before she could stop him.
“Jewel, don’t, please, I’m not ready to face her yet,” She said, not bothering to stand up because she knew Jewel was ready to run around the whole place with her.
“There you go, I’ve accepted your honorable invitation, we’ll be there, and we’ll have fun,” He winked at her and left the kitchen with his plate of noodles.
