Chapter 48: Chapter 48 Chapter 48: Chapter 48 Eva saw Aiden and immediately thought of a quick way to exonerate herself from all the trouble.
She quickly turned to Abbey and a thought entered her head.
“It was her, Mr.
Chaz,” Eva pointed at Abbey who was defeatedly kneeling on the floor.
Aiden slowly removed his eyes that were locked on Ariel’s.
He saw Eva pointing at a girl who was kneeling on the floor with tears streaming down her face.
His face remained emotionless as he looked upon her.
“N-no, no, It was her…” Abbey sobbed, shaking her head and pointing back at Eva.
“She was the one who asked me to-” “Liar!
She’s a liar, Mr Chaz, do not believe her.
I saw with my eyes when she spilled the coffee on her and tried to harm my best friend,” Eva quickly ran over to Ariel and held her hand, her face looking very concerned for her.
People were already looking at them from all around the cafeteria, and Aiden didn’t care; he was going to end whatever drama was going on and punish whoever was responsible for hurting Ariel.
Ariel didn’t even react to Eva’s hands that were holding her arm tightly; she was lost in staring at Aiden; she couldn’t help but feel as if he was getting more handsome as the seconds went by.
She was surprised to see Aiden down at the Cafeteria, she never knew he could venture down to such places.
He was known for never wanting to interact with his employees, and now, he was suddenly here.
As she stared at his tall and handsome figure, her mind raced back to what happened between them last night, she couldn’t believe she had lost her virginity to him, she couldn’t still come to terms that the intimidating man before her had held her so tenderly in his arms last night, even this morning, in his office.
“I asked you a question, Ms Dew,” Ariel blinked and looked up, realizing that Aiden had been speaking to her.
“I- I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you,” She felt embarrassed for being carried away with such indecent thoughts in front of people.
Aiden narrowed his eyes at her, he noticed she’d been looking vacantly at him from the moment he walked into the cafeteria, and he wondered what must have happened.
He came down immediately after he received a text from Jess saying that his wife was being threatened and bullied.
He wasn’t happy with the text and he wanted to come and see who it was that dared to bully his wife.
Eva saw that Aiden had only been looking at Ariel after he arrived.
Anger flourished abundantly within her, and she wished she could just kill her and be done with her.
But she couldn’t do it, she had to be wise if she wanted Aiden to like her.
“Oh, so sorry, Mr.
Chaz, Ariel must be so hurt that she couldn’t hear you,” Eva softly informed as she slowly came to stand in front of Ariel.
To her shock, Aiden sidestepped her and held Ariel’s hand, “Who did that to you?” He asked darkly, his eyes looking angrily at her bruised leg.
Ariel was surprised he was that attentive to her, and she was shocked that he was holding her hand in public, didn’t he realize what he was doing?
But, Ariel didn’t want trouble, she just wanted to go home, “It’s nothing, it was just a misunderstanding-” “Who did this to you?!” Aiden growled, startling Ariel and the people around her.
Who dared to hurt her like that, the skin that had been so flawless last night now had a bruise.

Unforgivable.
The person responsible had to go in for it.
Ariel was taken aback by Aiden’s temper, she looked up at him and saw his furious face.
She should have been scared; rather, she felt her heart soften.
He was that way because of her, did he care about her?
Jess, who had been standing quietly beside Ariel, saw that Aiden was getting pissed and decided to show him the real culprit.
She had only wanted to brew up moments for his cousin and his contracted wife, she never knew he would react this much, but from his reaction, she concluded that Aiden was in love with Ariel, just that he hadn’t realized it yet.
“It was her, Aiden; she spilled the coffee and stumped her shoe on Ariel’s leg,” Jess pointed to Abbey.
Aiden slowly turned and walked over to Abbey, holding Ariel’s hand as he went.
“You did this?” He asked in a low voice.
Abbey’s lips were quivering as she nodded.
She slowly looked up at Ariel’s face and saw her looking less concerned.
She immediately knew that Ariel wasn’t ready to forgive her.
She shouldn’t have listened to Eva in the first place.
“I’m sorry, Mr.
Chaz, please forgive me.
Ariel please, I’m so sorry.
It was Eva, she said she hated you so much and wanted you gone from the company.
Please, I was stupid to have listened to her,” Abbey cried.
Eva was about to move forward and defend herself, but Jess held her back.
“I’d be careful if I were you,” She told her quietly.
Eva immediately paused, watching Abbey.
“Your apology means nothing now.
You’re fired; my company doesn’t need people like you who can’t even own up to their actions; rather, you try to drag others into the mess you’ve made,” Aiden scolded and immediately dragged Ariel out of the Cafeteria.
“Follow me, Jess,” He said as she passed her.
As they walked out of the Cafeteria, Abbey wailed and cried, calling after Ariel to forgive her.
Eva stood frozen, she felt ignored as she saw Aiden leading Ariel away.
Her hatred intensified, and hearing Abbey’s annoying voice grated her soul.
She marched up to her and slapped her.
“Shut up!
You liar!
You’re trying to frame me?
Serves you right, you deserve what you got!” Eva mocked scornfully before she walked out of the Cafeteria.
She was hoping to catch sight of Aiden and Ariel, but she couldn’t see them anywhere.
“Stupid bitch!
You’re testing my patience,” she muttered and hastily walked out of the building.
She couldn’t let this go on, her instincts were telling her that something was about to happen if she didn’t act fast.
It was time she involved her parents.
*** Ariel paused and snatched her hand away from Aiden’s hold as they stepped outside the building.
Aiden halted in his quick strides and turned to her with a frown.
“Get in the car, Ariel,” Aiden commanded.
Ariel refused; she stood her ground and looked away from him, “You shouldn’t hold me, Mr.
Chaz,” Ariel muttered.
Aiden scoffed, looking unbelievably at her, he was standing there worried about her, but all she cared about was him holding her.
Jess slowly walked between them, “Um, I’ll leave you two lover birds alone, see you tomorrow, Ariel,” Jess waved and giddily walked away, happy that her ship was starting to set sail.
“You’ll move your pretty little ass, Ariel, or I’ll carry you into the car myself,” Aiden warned.
Jess giggled as she stood beside her car, watching the couple.
Ariel snapped her head to him, “You can’t do that,” she refuted.
Aiden smirked, “As you wish,” he stepped forward, ready to lift Ariel into his arms.
“Don’t touch me,” Ariel moved away from his reach and quickly entered the car.
Aiden smiled.
He thought Ariel was getting cuter by the day, he felt his heart-tugging softly at her cute actions.
He glared at Jess before he entered the car.
Ariel was already seated in front with her seatbelt clicked tight.
She didn’t want the romantic scene of Aiden fixing her seat belt for her, minimising contact was her mission now.
Aiden stared at her quietly before he drove the car off.
“Are you hungry?” He asked as they closer to the restaurant Grandma Nari had brought them the other day.
Silence.
The silence was all he got as his reply.
He sighed, he shouldn’t have asked.
She had left the house so early and didn’t get to eat, so, of course, she must be hungry.
“What do you want to eat, I’ll get it for you,” he asked softly as he stopped the car in front of the restaurant.
Ariel sighed and slowly turned to him.
“Why, Aiden, why are you doing this?” She asked quietly.
Aiden frowned, removing his seat belt to face her.
“Doing what, Ariel?” He blinked slowly, trying to make out her emotions.
“This,” Ariel pointed between them.
“You’re confusing me.
Why are you making it look as if you care about me?” Her voice was higher than usual as she asked.
Aiden sighed, “You left the house hungover, and you’re not rested after what we did last night, I’m not that thoughtless, Ariel, I know you’re tired and need some rest too, so, I do care, Arile, a lot,” Aiden spoke very softly as if he feared that he might scare her away if he raised his voice.
“Stop it!
Stop it, Aiden.
Don’t ever bring up what happened between us, It was a mistake!” Ariel burst out, breathing harshly in anger.
“A mistake?!” Aiden frowned.
He grabbed her arm and turned her to look at him, holding her face in his hands.
“Giving your virginity to me was a mistake?
Promising to love me was a mistake?
Making me feel loved for the first time was a mistake?
Making me fall for you was a mistake?” Aiden’s voice was barely above a whisper, he was looking into her eyes, his emotions clear in his eyes, making him vulnerable.
He had decided to cross that bridge with Ariel; he couldn’t keep up with the pretense anymore.
He had fallen for her and he was ready to admit it.
Ariel felt butterflies fluttering from her stomach to her heart.
She looked into Aiden’s hooded eyes, his questions ringing inside her head.
So he did realize that he was her first, she felt her heart beating faster and her cheeks reddening.
She let her mind replay his last question.
‘Making me fall you was a mistake?’ She looked into his eyes, her heart threatening to burst out of her chest.
Had Aiden Chaz just admitted to having feelings for her?
Ariel blinked and looked away, but he brought her face back to him, “Answer me, Ariel,” He urged gently.
Ariel sighed, “Yes.
They were all a mistake,” Ariel replied, her heart protesting at her answer.
Aiden felt something break within him; he felt a kind of hurt he never knew existed; he tightened his hold on her face and leaned in closer.
“A lie?” He asked slowly, his breath coming in shorts.
Ariel nodded, “Yes, and from now on, only get to act like a real couple in front of your grandma, let’s keep what happened between us buried in the past, Mr.
Chaz, it was easier for us that way,” she slowly removed her face from his hands, unhooking her seat belt and preparing to leave.
“Wait,” Aiden held her hand as she wanted to open the door.
Ariel turned and stared at his face which suddenly turned cold, but his eyes were still vulnerable.
“If you leave this car, you’re leaving with any feelings I’ve ever had for you, Ariel.
Can you not love me?” He asked quietly, his face was emotionless but his eyes were pleading.
Ariel sucked on sharp breath, her body and heart were forcing her to give Aiden a warm hug and assure him that he wasn’t alone in his feelings, but she didn’t.
Her mind was made up.
“I’ll see you at home, Mr.
Chaz,” Ariel opened the car door and slowly slipped her hand away from Aiden’s.
She didn’t look back to see his reaction, she just walked ahead the street, wanting to clear her head from all the voices in it, especially the one cursing her for hurting Aiden the way she just did.
