Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Chapter 61: Chapter 61 Grandma Nari was beside Ariel in the blink of an eye and gently patted her back.
“It’s alright, honey, you don’t have to be shy.
Your husband is right; maybe, it’s time I return to my own husband.
I’ve disturbed you newlyweds enough,” Grandma Nari explained quietly.
Ariel forced down another cough that wanted to come up her throat and calmly smiled at Grandma Nari.
The old woman was even making her more uncomfortable.
But she had to be composed.
“It’s alright, Grandma, you can just keep living with us, Aiden didn’t mean those things he said, he-” “I meant every word I said, sweetheart, and you know it,” Aiden reaffirmed in a solid tone, locking his gaze on Ariel’s face.
Ariel was staring widely at Aiden.
She wished she could just disappear, or curse Aiden, but Grandma Nari was there; she couldn’t.
She gave a little awkward laugh and nodded, “Yes, Grandma, guess I was just shy,” She cleared her throat and sipped her water again.
“It’s alright, just give me three days, Aiden, and I’ll be out of your hair, meanwhile, please eat more so you can have more stamina,” Grandma Nari pulled a plate of food toward Ariel and walked over to Aiden to serve him his food.
“Thank you, Grandma, but you don’t have to worry about my stamina, it’s quite strong, Ariel could testify, right, love?” Aiden asked her.
Ariel no longer looked at him; she had just realized that he was out to embarrass her and she wasn’t going to give him the privilege to do so.
She stuffed her mouth with food so she didn’t have to answer him.
“Let the girl eat, Aiden.
Where are your table manners?” Grandma Nari asked.
Aiden nodded and started eating, but he made sure that Ariel knew he was staring at her from time to time.
He found himself unable to look away from her, ever since she stood up for him when Moon was trying to remind him of his past, he developed a new type of longing for her.
He knew she didn’t hear what they had argued about, and he was glad about that; he didn’t want her to see the dark side of him.
From that moment, Aiden swore to protect her, just like she did him.
He realized he had been so wrong about her in the past; all was left for him to do now was to prove to her that he was really sorry, even though he knew that it would be hard for her to believe but he would try; she was worth it.
Ariel hurried to finish her food and quickly stood from the table.
“Thank you for the meal, Grandma, I’ll be taking a little walk outside,” Ariel smiled at the old woman as she pushed her chair back under the table.
Grandma Nari nodded, “That’s alright, sweetheart; it’s good for the baby too,” She replied.
Ariel nodded, maintaining her smile, and quickly turned away.
Which baby?!
She walked toward the door, and she could still feel Aiden’s eyes on her, but she didn’t turn back, that was the reason she was walking out of the house to start with.
But, Ariel suddenly paused when she was almost at the door as she heard Gregory speak to Aiden.
“Boss, about the girl you asked me to search for, she’s-” “Not now, Gregory,” Aiden quickly interrupted.

He didn’t want Ariel to find out about the situation.
“I’m sorry, boss, forgive me,” Gregory immediately apologized, understanding his mistake.
Ariel frowned; what girl was Aiden interested in?
The girl must really be special to him for him to ask his bodyguard to go search for her.
Clenching her fists, she quickly walked out of the door.
As she closed the door, she heard Grandma Nari questioning Aiden about the girl they were talking about, but Aiden had just dismissed it as nothing.
She scoffed and gently walked away from the door.
It’s been a long time since she exercised; she eyed the large compound, which was her only companion during that period when Aiden left her after their marriage.
It had been calm, and peaceful, no Aiden or Moon Drama…No Ken too.
Just her, the servants, and Gregory, which basically seemed like she was alone because she didn’t really associate with them.
Now, the peace was gone, replaced with everyday drama.
She wondered if there would ever be a time when she was truly happy.
Would just continue to live this life of pretense?
She sighed, slowly walking around the compound, lost in her thoughts.
Soon, the gate slid open, and a familiar car drove in.
It was Jess.
Ariel watched the car park inside the garage and saw Jess rush out of it and run toward her.
“Ariel, are you okay?” Jess hugged Ariel tightly, and then she stepped back and quickly scanned her body, going around her to scan her back too.
“Oh, thank god, I was worried that something happened to you, how are you feeling inside?
Okay?” Jess fussed all over Ariel.
Ariel smiled, feeling her heart warm by Jess’ concern.
She gently took her hand in hers, “Don’t worry, Jess, I’m fine.
It’s your brother you should check on, he took more of the impact,” Ariel assured.
Jess sighed in relief, “Wheew!
Glad you’re okay, and don’t worry about Aiden, I know he’s fine; Ken sent me a picture,” She smiled.
Ariel smiled, too, she was glad she met Jess.
She was actually the only person she could call a friend, and she had a feeling that she would still keep contact with her even after her contract marriage with Aiden ended.
“Are you okay?
You look sad,” Jess gently led Ariel to another side of the compound where Ariel had never been.
Ariel blinked, wearing a smile.
“It’s nothing, but hey, where are you taking me?” Ariel questioned as Jess took her toward a single black gate.
“Don’t worry, you’ll like it.
My cousin is such a chameleon, he got himself the best Architect to design his home like a regular mansion, and if you didn’t know better, you’d never know he had an estate to himself,” Jess said mischievously.
Jess pushed open the gate and dragged Ariel through it.
“What the…” Ariel marveled at the beautiful view in front of her.
Who would have thought that a beautiful garden and orchid existed in Aiden’s new-tech home?
“Amazing, right?” Jess asked.
Ariel nodded, “Yes…” She followed Jess along as she took her through a thin path; beautiful flowers lined each side of the path.
“Is that a swing?” Ariel asked like an excited kid.
Jess chuckled, “Yep, wanna try?” She drew her toward the swing that was hanging on the strong branches of two tall trees.
“This is really awesome,” Ariel laughed as she sat down carefully on the swing seat.
“You’ve seen nothing; if you walk deeper, you’d find a relaxing golf field, too.
Hold on tight, I’m about to swing your worries away!” Jess warned and immediately pushed Ariel into the air.
Ariel laughed loudly, holding onto the chain as she went high up in the air.
She came back down, and Jess pushed her again, both laughing loudly and freely, their laughter mixing with the soft tweeting of the birds in the garden.
At that moment, they were just two kids in the bodies of grown women, one was reliving her childhood, and the other was living her childhood.
Ariel was happy for the first time; she was really happy, she had never played this way as a child, and the only time she would go to a park was when her stepmother made her carry stuff for Eva whenever they went for picnics.
She was never allowed to play with other kids and was never given gifts or anything that made a child happy.
But right then, she felt so free as the cool wind blew around her hair, face, and body, it was just like Jess had said, she was swinging away her worries, and the only thing in her mind was the way the swing was taking her up and down, her happiness level increasing with each push of the swing.
“That was fun!” Ariel laughed and held onto Jess as she got down from the swing; she was feeling weightless and fighting the pull of gravity that was threatening to pull her to the floor.
Jess gently guided her and lowered both of them onto the soft grass.
“That was really, fun.
You know, I never knew you had this kind of energy in you,” Jess chuckled.
Ariel shook her head, “Me neither…” She paused and looked at Jess, her eyes suddenly turning misty.
“Hey, come on now, no tears here, baby girl.
We’re here to destress,” Jess narrowed her eyes at her.
Ariel laughed, nodding her head.
She slowly moved closer to Jess, who was sitting up and hugged her.
A warm, friendly, and comforting hug.
“Thank you, Jess, you don’t know what you’ve just done for me,” She whispered.
Jess smiled, gently patting Ariel’s back, “And I want to do more; from now on, it’s all good vibes, no more sulking, okay?” Jess questioned mischievously.
Ariel nodded and slowly withdrew from Jess, staring at her face, “Only good vibes.” Her cheeks still flushed from the swinging she had done and her eyes were the brightest they’ve ever been.
So, she could be happy?
“Awesome, that’s the spirit.
Next, we’re going clubbing, fuck Aiden, fuck Ken too,” Jess announced, smiling mischievously.
Ariel’s eyes widened, she thought for a second before she vigorously nodded, “Yes, fuck them,” She burst out laughing.
